Update the game, then open its graphics or display options and look for a QSSR setting. Sony says the feature is offered as an additional graphics option in the first supported PS5 games, but it has not published one universal menu path or said whether QSSR is enabled by default.
What QSSR is
QSSR stands for Quick Spectral Super Resolution. Sony describes it as an AI-upscaling option for PS5, developed from Project Amethyst, its graphics-AI collaboration with AMD. Sony says the streamlined neural-network architecture and hand-tuned implementation are designed to maximize performance on PS5. The company says QSSR can improve image detail and stability, but does not give a per-game resolution or frame-rate guarantee. Sony’s announcement describes QSSR as distinct from PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), which Sony identifies with PS5 Pro.

How to check for QSSR in a PS5 game
- Update the game. Install the latest available update; QSSR must be included in the game version you are running.
- Open the game’s graphics or display options. Look for a QSSR choice or setting. Sony describes QSSR as an additional graphics option, but does not specify the exact menu labels or route for every game.
- Check the game’s official patch notes or support information if you do not see it. The setting may depend on a newer patch, or the game may present its graphics options differently. An absent menu item by itself does not establish why QSSR is missing.
Which games has Sony confirmed?
In its October 1, 2026 announcement, Sony named Marvel’s Wolverine and Ghost of Yōtei as the first games to use QSSR. Sony said both were being patched that day to offer it as an additional graphics option on PS5. These are confirmed launch examples, not a complete or permanently current support list. Sony says the QSSR library will be offered broadly to PlayStation developers, so check individual game announcements and patch notes for later additions.
What the setting does—and what it does not tell you
Sony says QSSR is intended to improve image detail and image stability. Those platform-level claims do not establish that every player will notice an improvement in every game, or specify a particular resolution or frame rate. Finding the option in a game’s graphics menu confirms that the game offers it; it does not, on its own, tell you whether the game has selected it by default.
