How to Check GHO Borrow Rates, Pool Liquidity, and Utilization on Aave

Check the exact Aave network and market for current GHO rates and utilization, then inspect facilitator headroom separately from ordinary pool liquidity.

To check GHO borrowing conditions on Aave, first select the exact network and market instance, then read its current borrow-rate and utilization data and check the relevant facilitator’s remaining capacity. Ordinary pool liquidity is not the same as GHO minting capacity: GHO is minted through a facilitator, with facilitator limits and borrower collateral determining how much can be created.

What the metrics mean for GHO

Borrow rate

The borrow rate is specific to a network and market instance, such as Ethereum Core or Ethereum Prime. Check the field’s label: a base rate or governance-proposed parameter is not necessarily the effective variable rate shown for a borrower. Rates may also be displayed as APR or APY, which are not interchangeable.

Utilization

Utilization is meaningful only alongside the rate model and parameters for that same market. Interest-rate models use utilization to determine borrowing rates, but the curve and its optimal utilization can differ across deployments. A utilization figure from Monad, for example, cannot stand in for Ethereum Core.

Pool liquidity and facilitator headroom

Aave’s GHO documentation describes GHO as minted through a facilitator rather than borrowed from ordinary supplied reserve liquidity. The documented available facilitator capacity is the bucket maximum minus the current bucket level. That headroom is distinct from conventional pool liquidity, and it does not guarantee a particular borrower can mint that amount: collateral eligibility and account-level borrowing limits also apply. Aave’s GHO documentation explains the distinction at Aave’s GHO FAQ.

GHO supply and capacity can involve more than one mechanism, including the Aave V3 market and the Stability Module. When checking a capacity figure, identify which facilitator or mechanism it describes; do not treat all GHO-related capacity as one pool. See Aave’s GHO documentation and its facilitator documentation.

How to check GHO borrow rates, pool liquidity, and utilization

  1. Select the market instance. Record the network and market, such as Ethereum Core or Ethereum Prime. Do not assume that a GHO deployment on another network uses the same risk parameters.
  2. Read the current borrow rate for that instance. Use the market’s current reserve or borrow display, or current protocol data. Record whether the value is a variable APR/APY, a base rate, or a governance parameter, and whether it is proposed or active.
  3. Read utilization from the same market. Compare it with that instance’s rate curve and optimal-utilization parameter. Do not combine a rate from one market with utilization from another.
  4. Check facilitator capacity separately from pool liquidity. Identify the relevant facilitator’s bucket maximum and current bucket level; their difference is the remaining headroom described in Aave’s documentation. Then consider collateral eligibility and the borrower’s account-level limits.
  5. Record when and where you checked. Note the network, market, metric, units, interface or data source, and observation time in UTC. If citing a governance post, include its publication date and whether the proposed change has been executed.

How to interpret a governance rate update

Governance posts can describe a proposed parameter change rather than the rate currently in force. TokenLogic’s October 2, 2026 post proposed increasing the Ethereum Core GHO borrow rate from 4.25% to 4.50% APR and the Ethereum Prime GHO base rate from 2.75% to 3.00% APR. Those are dated proposal figures, not independently verified live rates or confirmation of execution. Check the current market readout or contract state before describing either as active. The proposal is documented in TokenLogic’s October 2026 GHO Stewards update.

Why network and market labels matter

Core, Prime, Horizon, and deployments on other networks may have different rates, utilization, and risk settings. A historical report illustrates the problem: LlamaRisk reported GHO utilization of 79.1% for Aave V3 Monad at the time of its report, with a 60.6% average and a 40.0%–94.9% range over the stated 30-day period. These are historical Monad figures, not current utilization and not Ethereum data. The report’s market-specific rate analysis is available in LlamaRisk’s Monad GHO interest-rate analysis.

A useful way to report a reading

For a clear comparison, list each market separately and capture the same fields for each: network and instance, borrow-rate value and label, utilization and relevant rate-model context, facilitator bucket maximum and level, remaining headroom, collateral constraints, observation time, and governance execution status where relevant. If any figure comes from a proposal or historical report, label it as such rather than presenting it as a live value.
