Most Samsung Galaxy tablets do not offer a setting to change the built-in screen’s resolution. Check Settings > Display or search Settings for “Screen resolution.” If that control is missing, the tablet generally uses the resolution specified for its model. To make on-screen content look larger or smaller, adjust Screen zoom or Font size and style instead; those settings change scale or typography, not the panel’s pixel resolution.
Check whether your tablet has a Screen resolution setting
- Open Settings.
- Tap Display, or use Settings search to look for Screen resolution.
- If the control appears, choose from the options shown on your device. If it does not, check the manual for your exact tablet model and software version rather than following a phone’s menu instructions.
Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S9 support and manuals are an example of a model-specific resource; menus can differ between models and software versions. To identify your device, open Settings > About tablet.

Why the phone instructions may not work
Samsung’s Galaxy S9+ phone manual gives the path Settings > Display > Screen resolution for that phone. That phone-specific instruction is not a general Galaxy tablet path. A Samsung Community discussion about the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra also reflects users looking for a resolution control that is absent from that tablet’s Display settings.

So if you cannot find “Screen resolution” under Display, it may simply not be an option on your tablet. The available examples support that practical answer, but do not establish that every Galaxy Tab model and software version has identical settings.

Choose the setting that matches what you want to change

When the picture still looks wrong
Text or icons are too small
Try Screen zoom or Font size and style under Settings > Display, if your tablet offers those controls. They affect how content is drawn on screen, not the panel’s native pixel count.
A video looks blurry
Check the video app’s playback-quality menu. A stream’s selected quality is separate from the tablet’s built-in display resolution.

An external screen looks wrong
Check the configuration for the attached display or DeX session. Those settings concern external output; they do not change the tablet’s internal panel.
