Connect the PS4’s HDMI OUT port to an available HDMI input on the LG TV, then select that same HDMI input on the TV. The connection is wired; internet setup is not required just to display the console’s picture.
Connect the PS4 to the LG TV with HDMI
- Turn off the PS4 and the TV before arranging the cable.
- Plug one end of an HDMI cable into the PS4 port marked HDMI OUT. Connect the other end to an available HDMI input on the LG TV. PlayStation’s PS4 setup guide identifies the console’s HDMI OUT port; LG’s connection guide describes using the TV’s available input ports.
- Connect the PS4 power cable to the console and a suitable power outlet.
- Turn on the TV and PS4. Using the LG remote’s input or external-input control, choose the HDMI port where you connected the console. The selected source must match the physical port.
- If the TV lets you label inputs, you can name that HDMI input “PS4” to find it more easily later. The label feature and menu steps vary by model.
A working HDMI cable is sufficient for ordinary video. If you already have a suitable cable, you do not need another one just to connect the console.

Set up HDR only if you want to use it
A basic HDMI connection does not automatically enable HDR. To configure HDR, the TV and its chosen HDMI port must support it. PlayStation’s instructions call for connecting the PS4 directly to the TV using a Premium HDMI cable, enabling the TV’s HDR-related HDMI setting for the relevant port, and setting the console’s HDR and Deep Color options to Automatic. An intervening receiver or switch box does not meet PlayStation’s stated direct-connection requirement for HDR.
- Check which HDMI port on your LG TV supports HDR and enable that port’s HDR-related setting. LG menu labels can include HDMI Deep Color; labels and supported ports vary by TV.
- Connect the PS4 directly to that TV port with a Premium HDMI cable.
- On the PS4, open Settings > Sound and Screen > Video Output Settings, then set HDR and Deep Color to Automatic.
See PlayStation’s HDR setup instructions and consult your LG model’s manual if the HDMI setting is not available.

Game Optimizer or Game Mode
Once the PS4 picture is working, you can enable a gaming picture mode if your LG TV supports one. LG documents model- and webOS-dependent menus. One example for webOS 6.0 is All Settings > General > Game Optimizer; other versions may use different paths. Game Optimizer is optional, not a requirement for displaying the PS4. Check LG’s guidance for entering game mode and turning on Game Optimizer for model-specific details.
