To change the Wi-Fi network on a compatible Samsung washer, clear its saved network details using the reset sequence for your model, then reconnect it through SmartThings. On many Samsung US models, hold Smart Control until AP appears, then hold Temp until OK appears. Controls and reset steps vary by model and region, and not every Samsung washer supports Wi-Fi or SmartThings.
Before you change the washer’s Wi-Fi
- Confirm the washer supports SmartThings. Check its model number and the specifications or manual for the market where you bought it. Wi-Fi controls and available features vary by product and country; Samsung Australia explicitly notes that functions and steps can also depend on software version, service provider, and network environment (Samsung Australia).
- Find the local manual if the panel differs. Samsung publishes different button sequences for different control-panel designs and regions. Do not combine steps from separate manuals.
- Have SmartThings and your Samsung account ready. Samsung Gulf’s setup guidance also calls for a compatible washer, a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, and adequate signal near the appliance. These are the requirements stated for that guide; check your local product instructions for your model (Samsung Gulf).
How to reset Wi-Fi on a Samsung washer with Smart Control buttons
Samsung US documents this network-reset procedure for Wi-Fi-capable washers covered by its support article. It clears network information for the next connection attempt; it is not a general factory reset.

- With the washer on, press and hold Smart Control for about three seconds, until AP appears.
- Press and hold Temp for about seven seconds, until OK appears. The display returns to AP.
- Turn the washer off. The next connection attempt refreshes its Wi-Fi and network information.
These timings and buttons are from Samsung US’s instructions. If your washer does not show the expected display, stop and check its model-specific manual rather than trying another region’s sequence (Samsung US: How to reset your Samsung washing machine).
Reconnect the washer in SmartThings
For a panel with Smart Control
- Open the SmartThings app, choose to add a device, select Washer, and start pairing.
- When prompted, put the washer into AP mode by pressing and holding Smart Control. Follow the app’s prompts.
- Choose the Wi-Fi network in the app and enter its credentials to complete setup.
AP means the washer is ready for setup; it does not mean the washer has joined your home network. Samsung Gulf describes this SmartThings flow in its connection guide (Samsung Gulf).

For an LCD touchscreen
Some LCD touchscreen models offer Settings > Easy Connection. Use that option to begin setup if it appears on your washer, then follow the on-screen and SmartThings instructions. The exact menus depend on model.
Other control panels use different Wi-Fi settings
Some newer or regional panels expose Wi-Fi directly in a settings menu. For example, Samsung France documents a method for some models: hold Additional Functions for three seconds, choose Wi-Fi with the navigation dial, then press OK to switch Wi-Fi on or off. That page was updated 8 July 2026; it is an example of regional variation, not a universal Samsung sequence (Samsung France).

- Allows wireless internet connectivity for Dish Network Models 722, 722k, 622, 222, 222k and 922 Sling Loaded receivers to the Internet without having to run any cables
- place wifi adapter in USB port of your receiver and follow prompts on the screen.
The same France guide gives a different reset procedure for the models it covers: with the machine on, hold Smart Control for five seconds until AP appears, then hold Rinse for seven seconds until a confirmation beep. Turn the machine off and on, then restart pairing in SmartThings. Use this only if it matches your washer’s local instructions; it is not an alternative step to append to the Samsung US reset sequence.
Wi-Fi reset, power cycle, and factory reset are not the same
- Wi-Fi network reset: clears stored network information so you can reconnect. Use only the sequence documented for your model.
- Power cycle: Samsung US describes disconnecting power or switching off the breaker, waiting one to five minutes, then restoring power. This restarts the washer but does not perform the Wi-Fi network reset.
- Factory reset: the network-reset instructions above are not described as a general factory reset. Do not assume they erase or restore every washer setting.
Samsung says there is no general washer reset button. It also warns that a reset can erase error-code history without fixing the underlying error. If an error returns, avoid repeated resets: the saved history may help a technician diagnose it (Samsung US).

If the washer will not connect to SmartThings
- Check compatibility. Confirm the exact model supports Wi-Fi and SmartThings in the market where it was sold.
- Check app and account setup. Sign in to SmartThings with a Samsung account and select the Washer device type during setup.
- Check the Wi-Fi band and signal. Samsung Gulf’s cited setup guidance specifies 2.4 GHz and recommends adequate signal near the appliance. Follow the local manual for your model’s requirements.
- Start pairing again using the correct panel route. Use Smart Control/AP, Easy Connection, or a Wi-Fi settings menu only if that is the method documented for your washer.
- Use the model’s manual if pairing still fails. The cited Samsung pages do not establish a universal router-security change or accessory fix, so avoid changing router settings or buying equipment without model-specific guidance.
