In Chrome for Android, tap More (⋮) → Settings → Search engine, then choose an option. This changes the engine used for searches you enter in Chrome’s address bar; it does not change the Android home-screen search widget.
Change Chrome’s search engine
- Open the Chrome app on your Android device.
- Tap More (⋮), then Settings.
- Under Basics, tap Search engine.
- Choose the search engine you want to use from the options shown.
Google Chrome Help says searches entered in Chrome will then use the selected engine: Google’s instructions for changing the search engine in Chrome.

Which search engines can you choose?
The options shown are not necessarily identical for every person. Google says Chrome uses Google Search by default in some countries, while users in others may be asked to choose a default. Chrome may also add recently visited search engines to the available options. Choose from the list displayed in your app rather than expecting a fixed catalog.

If the setting is missing or looks different
Android manufacturers can make small changes to the device’s software, so menu steps may vary slightly. Check that you are in the Chrome app’s settings and look for the current Search engine option; a difference in menus alone does not establish a single cause. Android Help notes that steps may vary by device.
