To change the Samsung Keyboard’s appearance or fit, open Settings > General management > Samsung Keyboard settings, then choose the available theme, layout, size, or other option you want. You can also open keyboard settings from the keyboard toolbar if its Settings shortcut is available.
Choose the change that matches what you want

| Change how typing feels | Explore feedback settings, such as the available sound or vibration options. |
| Use a different keyboard app | Install another keyboard and select it as the default; this changes the keyboard software and its available features. |
Samsung lists themes, layout, size, feedback, and custom symbols among the Samsung Keyboard customization categories. What appears on your device depends on its model, software version, and carrier. Samsung’s US support guide describes the general settings route.

Open Samsung Keyboard settings
- Open Settings.
- Tap General management.
- Tap Samsung Keyboard settings.
If you already have the keyboard open, tap its toolbar’s Settings icon when available. The exact labels and placement can differ across Galaxy phones and tablets.

Change the keyboard’s size or position
Resize the keyboard
On devices that show the option, open Style and Layout > Size and transparency. Drag the handles around the keyboard to change its dimensions. Samsung documents these controls in its Galaxy keyboard settings guide; the option may be nested differently or unavailable on some devices.

Choose a keyboard mode
Open Mode and select the arrangement that suits you:
- Standard: the regular keyboard stretched across the main screen.
- One-handed: shifts the keyboard to one side to make keys easier to reach with one hand.
- Floating: displays a smaller keyboard popup that can be positioned separately. Samsung’s guide says transparency controls are available in Floating mode.
Change the theme or other design details
In Samsung Keyboard settings, look for theme or appearance controls and select an available design. You can also explore layout, feedback, and custom-symbol options. Samsung documents these categories, but it does not establish that every Galaxy device has the same choices or theme catalog. Preview your selection by opening an app where you type.

Switch to another keyboard, such as Gboard
Installing a different keyboard is optional. Samsung says you can download a keyboard from the Play Store or Galaxy Store, then choose it as the default:

- Open Settings > General management > Keyboard list and default.
- Tap Default keyboard.
- Select the keyboard app you want to use.
For Gboard, open its keyboard menu, choose a theme, and tap Apply. Google notes that some steps depend on your Android version. See Google’s Gboard theme instructions.

If a setting is missing
- Check that you opened Samsung Keyboard settings, rather than the settings for another keyboard app.
- Look under related sections such as Style and Layout or Mode; Samsung’s guides show that size and arrangement controls may be nested.
- Account for differences in Galaxy model, software version, and carrier. Samsung warns that screens and settings vary.
Changing the built-in keyboard’s software settings does not require a physical keyboard or accessory. Samsung also lists Samsung Keyboard in the Galaxy Store.
