Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo change where FireShot saves screenshots, open the extension’s settings and use Save location if that control is available in your edition. FireShot currently lists Downloads as the free version’s default; choosing a different local or cloud folder is presented as a Pro feature. If the issue is an unexpected FireShot subfolder, check both the browser’s Downloads location and FireShot’s subfolder setting.
Change FireShot’s save location
- Open FireShot’s settings or save options in your browser extension.
- Find Save location and select the folder you want, if the installed edition offers that option. FireShot’s current onboarding page shows Downloads and Downloads / FireShot as example destinations. FireShot’s getting-started page says the free version uses Downloads by default and presents custom local or cloud folders as a Pro capability.
- Save the change and capture a test page. Check the resulting file’s location before changing other settings.
FireShot names OneDrive, Google Drive, and network shares as examples of Pro destinations. You do not necessarily need Pro simply to change the browser’s general Downloads folder; that may be enough if you want all downloads, not just FireShot captures, to go somewhere else.

Change the browser’s Downloads folder instead
If FireShot follows the browser’s download destination in your setup, changing that browser setting can move FireShot captures along with other downloaded files. This is a broader change than adjusting FireShot alone. An older FireShot support answer for Chrome said captures went to Chrome’s configured Downloads folder, with a FireShot subfolder; treat that as a diagnostic clue rather than a guarantee for current versions. The 2017 Chrome/Windows support thread describes a case where Downloads was set to Desktop and FireShot appended its own subfolder.

Stop an unexpected FireShot subfolder
- First verify the browser’s configured Downloads directory. If it points to Desktop, FireShot files may appear there rather than in the usual Downloads folder.
- Then inspect FireShot’s save options for a subfolder setting. The historical support case above was resolved by leaving FireShot’s subfolder option blank.
- Capture another test screenshot to confirm the resulting location.
The subfolder fix is based on a 2017 support case, not a current universal procedure; labels and behavior can differ by browser and extension build.

Ask where to save each screenshot
FireShot’s Pro usage guide describes a save-dialog option that can prompt for a destination for each file, as well as a fixed-location mode. It also documents a mode in which the dialog appears only when you press Shift while saving from the editor. Because this guide may not match current extension menus exactly, look for the equivalent save-dialog setting in your installed version. The guide’s label for suppressing the prompt is Do not show ‘Save as’ dialog. See FireShot’s documentation and getting-started information.
Firefox’s built-in screenshot tool is separate
If you mean Firefox’s own screenshot feature rather than the FireShot extension, changing FireShot’s settings will not change that browser feature’s destination. Mozilla Support moderator Nathan Giovannini says that, starting with Firefox 141, built-in screenshots save to Firefox’s default download location. Change that in Firefox under Settings > General > Downloads; Mozilla’s guidance also describes asking where to save downloads. These instructions apply to Firefox built-in screenshots, not FireShot. Does changing the browser Downloads folder affect only FireShot?
No. It changes the destination for the browser’s other downloads as well; use FireShot’s own location control if you need a FireShot-specific destination and your edition provides it.
