Choose the right FireShot capture mode
Open the web app in your browser, then open FireShot from its toolbar button, the main menu, or the page’s context menu. According to FireShot’s official instructions, clicking the toolbar button runs the default capture method and action, typically “Capture entire webpage and Edit.” The available command labels or default behavior may differ by installation.

These modes are distinct: a full-page capture follows the document, while a visible-area or selected-area capture records a viewport or chosen region. FireShot’s instructions describe these capture options and their scope.

How do I take a full-page screenshot with a sticky header?
- Open the page and choose Capture entire Page and… from FireShot.
- Save the result in the image or document format suited to your use.
- Open the saved file and inspect where the header sits relative to the page content. Look for content covered by a fixed header, an unexpected repeated header, or a header missing where it provides necessary context.
FireShot’s release notes say it has “Better handling of sticky and fixed elements while page is scrolled.” That describes an improvement, not a guarantee that every sticky-header implementation will render the same way. If the goal is to document a particular part of the page exactly as it appears on screen, use Capture visible Area or define a region with Capture Selected area, then check the result.
How do I screenshot a scrolling panel in a web app?
Many web apps scroll content inside a panel instead of scrolling the whole document. If that panel is the target, try selecting it or the relevant scrolling region rather than capturing the entire page. FireShot release notes describe detecting and capturing a page element whose content exceeds its displayed size in Pro; its Chrome Web Store listing also describes capturing specific scrolling areas as an upgrade feature. These capabilities do not establish that every nested scroller, frame, or dynamic app will be captured completely.
- Identify whether the document or an inner panel is actually scrolling.
- Choose a selection or scrolling-area capture aimed at the panel, if that option is available in your installed edition.
- Inspect the saved capture for missing panel content, clipped edges, or content that changed while the app loaded.
If FireShot does not offer the needed scrolling-area option in your build, check its current listing or vendor distribution for edition and feature availability. Do not assume an upgrade feature is included in every installation.

Choose an output format and check edition availability
FireShot’s instructions list PDF, PNG, GIF, JPEG, and BMP outputs. The Chrome Web Store listing highlights PDF with links, PNG, and JPEG, and describes advanced PDF and editing functions—including direct links and text, single-page or paginated output, editing, blur, annotations, and capture of specific scrolling areas—as upgrade features. Output choices and advanced features can therefore vary by version and edition.

Store-distributed and vendor-distributed versions may not have identical metadata or feature sets. The Firefox Add-ons listing observed here identifies version 1.12.18 and a last update of June 5, 2023, while also saying FireShot v2 is being rolled out through the official site. That store metadata should not be treated as the latest version across all distribution channels. Check the version and feature set for the build you actually installed.

- Header covers page content: Try a visible-area or selected-area capture if you need to preserve the current on-screen appearance. For an entire-page capture, inspect the saved output; FireShot documents improved handling, not a universal sticky-header result.
- Only part of a scrolling panel appears: Confirm that the panel, rather than the document, is the scroll target. Try the scrolling-area or selection feature if your edition provides it, then check for clipping or missing content.
- The expected option is missing: Check the installed version and edition against the browser-store listing or vendor distribution. Some scrolling-area and advanced output features are described as upgrades.
- The saved file is not suitable: Select an available output format that fits the task—image for a screenshot or PDF for document-style output—and verify the file before sharing it.
- Content is incomplete or shifted: Review the capture after the app has loaded and check for dynamic content or nested scrolling. FireShot’s materials do not guarantee uniform handling across every app structure.
