You’ll need access to the new inbox to verify the change, and PlayStation will sign the account out on all devices.
Before you change your PlayStation email
- Make sure you can open the new email account. PlayStation sends a verification message there, and the new address is not confirmed until you select Verify Now.
- Be ready to sign in again on your devices after the change. PlayStation signs the account out everywhere.
- PlayStation also sends a confirmation notice to the old email address.
PlayStation calls the email address used to sign in your account’s sign-in ID. Its official instructions are for changing that sign-in ID, not for creating a new PlayStation account. PlayStation’s sign-in ID instructions

Change your sign-in email in a web browser
- Sign in to Account Management.
- Select Security.
- Select Edit beside Sign-In ID (Email Address).
- Enter the new email address and save the change.
- Open the verification email sent to the new address and select Verify Now.
Change your email on PS5
- Open Settings > Users and Accounts > Account > Sign-in ID (Email address).
- Enter the new email address and confirm.
- Open the verification message in the new inbox and complete verification.
Change your email on PS4
- Open Settings > Account Management > Account Information > Sign-In ID (Email Address).
- Sign in if prompted, then enter the new email address and confirm.
- Open the verification message in the new inbox and complete verification.
Menu wording can vary slightly by locale. The confirmation and verification steps still apply whichever route you use.

If you can’t access the old email or didn’t request a change
If you’ve lost access to the email linked to your account, don’t remember which email it is, or the address changed without your permission, the ordinary sign-in ID change flow may not work. Use PlayStation’s account recovery guidance or Online Assistant for sign-in issues to get help. You can’t use the normal change process to bypass account access or the new-address verification.

If you receive a notice about an email change you did not make, change the password for the affected email account and follow PlayStation’s recovery guidance. If you cannot change the sign-in method or regain access, contact PlayStation Support as soon as possible.
