Open Paramount+ on the device you use and check its app or profile settings for data-use controls. The available options depend on your device and app version; a manual picture-quality selector is not confirmed for every platform. To avoid cellular streaming, turn on a Wi-Fi-only option if your app offers one, or stream over Wi-Fi instead.
Find the data-use controls in your Paramount+ app
Open the app on the device where you watch, then inspect its settings or profile area for data-use or streaming options. There is no verified universal menu path: labels and availability may differ by device and app version.

A 2025 third-party accessibility audit documented Wi-Fi-only controls and separate Wi-Fi and cellular data-use choices in an app settings screen. It described options labelled Automatic, Moderate and Save Data. Treat these as examples, not a guarantee that your version of Paramount+ has the same controls.
Choose a setting based on picture quality and data use
If your app offers quality or data-use choices, select the lower-use option when conserving data matters more than picture quality. The following descriptions and consumption figures are observations reported by the Neil Squire Society’s 2025 audit, not official Paramount+ specifications or guaranteed rates:

These figures may not match current playback on your device. Actual consumption can vary with the content, connection, device and settings; Paramount+ does not publish a streaming data rate in the cited terms passage.
Prevent streaming over cellular data
If a Wi-Fi-only setting is available, enable it to prevent the app from streaming over a cellular connection. The tradeoff is that playback away from Wi-Fi may stop unless the title has been downloaded for offline viewing. If you cannot find this control, use Wi-Fi to stream rather than assuming a cellular block is enabled.

Download titles over Wi-Fi for offline viewing
Paramount+ offers downloads on eligible devices, but support depends on the device and app. Its help information also notes that wireless-plan data limits or charges may apply, and that an older app version can be one reason a download option is missing. Connect to Wi-Fi before downloading when you want to avoid using mobile data.
Troubleshoot blurry video or slow playback
Paramount+ says picture and sound quality and startup time may be affected by the content format, your location, internet speed and bandwidth, mobile data service, and device configuration. A quality setting cannot address every cause, and the available information does not establish a single guaranteed resolution selector or fix.

- Check whether the connection is stable and whether other activity is using bandwidth.
- If streaming on mobile data, check signal and service; try Wi-Fi to see whether playback improves.
- Check the device and app configuration, and update the app if a feature such as downloads is missing.
- Consider that the content being played and your location can also affect playback quality and startup time.
Paramount+ warns that streaming and downloads can use significant data.
