To customize Rocket Raccoon, open the Hero Gallery or Store, choose a Rocket costume that has the color-wheel icon, and select Customize above the normal Acquire or Equip button. Choose a palette, buy it with Unstable Molecules, and equip it. Rocket’s customizable Sunshine Raccoon costume currently has the Radiant Reef and Bluebell Breeze palettes listed by PC Gamer. Palette changes affect Rocket’s model, MVP animations, and emotes, but customization is available only on a small number of costumes.
What you need before changing Rocket’s appearance
Rocket customization is a cosmetic feature attached to individual costumes, not a universal color editor. You need access to a Rocket Raccoon costume that supports palettes, the base costume itself, and enough Unstable Molecules for any additional palette you want to purchase.

- A compatible costume: Look for the color-wheel icon beside the costume entry. Its presence is the clearest in-game indication that palettes are available.
- The base costume: Additional palettes are purchased separately, so you must acquire the underlying costume first.
- Unstable Molecules: This is the currency used for the extra palettes. The available sources do not establish a current universal price.
- Access to the relevant menu: You can begin from either the Hero Gallery or the Store, depending on where the costume is currently listed.
Because store inventory, prices, and eligible items can change, treat the color-wheel icon and the purchase screen as the final authority for your account at the time you buy.

- Open the Hero Gallery or Store. Navigate to Rocket Raccoon’s cosmetics rather than the general hero selection screen.
- Select a Rocket costume. Inspect the costume card or detail page for the color-wheel icon. If the icon is absent, that costume does not currently expose the palette customization control.
- Open Customize. On an eligible item, the Customize control appears above the usual Acquire or Equip button.
- Choose a palette. The menu shows the color variants available for that costume. For Sunshine Raccoon, the documented palette names are Radiant Reef and Bluebell Breeze.
- Purchase the palette. Confirm the purchase using Unstable Molecules. The palette is an additional cosmetic purchase rather than an automatic inclusion with the base costume.
- Equip the result. Apply the selected palette from the same customization screen. Rocket’s appearance and linked presentation elements should use the selected variant.
You can return to this menu later to switch between palettes you already own. You do not need to acquire the base costume again when changing among owned variants.

Rocket’s documented customizable costume
Sunshine Raccoon
PC Gamer identifies Sunshine Raccoon as Rocket Raccoon’s customizable costume and names two available palettes: Radiant Reef and Bluebell Breeze. The palettes are alternate color treatments of the Sunshine Raccoon design rather than separate heroes or new gameplay loadouts.
A current cosmetics database, whose Rocket page was last updated October 15, 2026, also lists Sunshine Raccoon and those two palette names alongside Rocket-related emotes, nameplates, sprays, and a Groot Plush accessory. That database confirms the broader set of Rocket cosmetics, but it does not establish that every listed item has a palette editor.
What the palette names mean in practice
The palette names identify selectable variants in the Customize menu. They do not imply that you can edit individual body parts, choose arbitrary RGB values, recolor accessories independently, or combine colors from different costumes. The documented workflow is selection from the palettes presented for the eligible costume.
How to acquire Sunshine Raccoon and its palettes
The base costume comes first
You must own the Sunshine Raccoon base costume before purchasing an additional palette. In the menu, the base item may show Acquire if you do not own it or Equip if it is already in your collection. The palette controls sit above that normal action when the item is eligible.
Store and bundle context
The official Marvel Rivals Version 20250508 patch notes, dated May 8, 2025, placed the Rocket Raccoon – Sunshine Raccoon Bundle under New In Store. That confirms a store bundle route at that point in the game’s live-service history. It does not guarantee that the bundle remains in the store on October 19, 2026, or that its contents and price are unchanged.

What is and is not known about price
Current authoritative pricing for Sunshine Raccoon, its palettes, and the bundle is not established here. Store prices and rotations are volatile, so do not rely on an old screenshot, a forum post, or a previous rotation when deciding how many Unstable Molecules to reserve. Read the amount displayed in the live purchase confirmation before accepting it.
What customization changes in a match
Changing a palette changes Rocket’s in-game character model. The effect is not limited to a gallery thumbnail: the selected color treatment is intended to be the version you see when playing Rocket.

The change also carries into Rocket’s MVP animations and emotes. This makes the palette a broader presentation variant than a static menu recolor. If you use Rocket in situations that display an MVP animation or trigger an emote, those elements are part of what the customization can alter.
Palette selection does not change Rocket’s abilities, statistics, role, controls, or other gameplay parameters. The available evidence describes an appearance and animation change, not a balance or loadout modification.
Why Customize may be missing
Marvel Rivals does not provide palette customization for every Rocket costume. The guide describing the feature characterizes the supported set as only a handful of skins. Consequently, owning a different Rocket costume does not by itself create a recolor option.

Check the icon before spending
The color-wheel icon is the practical eligibility check. If it is not shown beside the costume, do not assume that a palette can be added later or that another Rocket skin’s palettes will transfer. Open the item details and verify the icon before making the base-costume purchase.
Do not confuse a cosmetic collection with a palette
Rocket’s cosmetics collection can include emotes, nameplates, sprays, and accessories in addition to costumes. Those entries can appear together in the hero’s catalog without sharing the same customization controls. An emote or spray is a separate cosmetic category, not evidence that the associated costume supports recoloring.
How to switch palettes after you have bought one
- Return to Rocket Raccoon in the Hero Gallery or Store.
- Open the same eligible costume that contains the palette you purchased.
- Select Customize rather than the standard costume action.
- Choose another owned palette from the available variants.
- Equip it and leave the menu after the new selection is applied.
The menu is also where you can see which variants remain available for purchase. If a palette is shown but not owned, the game should present its purchase requirement; if it is owned, it can be selected without buying the base costume again.

Troubleshooting Rocket customization
The Customize button does not appear
First inspect the costume for the color-wheel icon. Without that icon, the item is not identified as palette-eligible by the game’s interface. If you are looking at a different Rocket costume, switch to Sunshine Raccoon or another item that explicitly displays the icon.

The color-wheel icon is present, but a palette is unavailable
Check whether you own the base costume. The additional palette purchase is gated by ownership of the underlying costume. If the base item still shows Acquire, complete that acquisition before expecting the palette purchase to proceed.
You cannot complete the palette purchase
Read the confirmation panel for the Unstable Molecules requirement. A palette requires that currency separately from the base costume. If the displayed amount is higher or lower than an older guide’s figure, use the live value shown in your client; prices can change with store updates.
Sunshine Raccoon is not visible in the Store
The May 8, 2025 patch notes document its appearance in the New In Store section at that time, not permanent availability. Store rotation and bundle availability can change. Check the Rocket section of the Hero Gallery as well as the current Store pages, and avoid treating a past listing as a promise of present inventory.
The model changed, but an emote or MVP presentation did not look different
Verify that the new palette is actually equipped rather than merely highlighted in the preview. Then inspect the relevant MVP or emote selection from Rocket’s cosmetics. The documented feature says the palette changes those presentation elements, but individual cosmetic entries remain separate items and may not all display in every context.

You expected to recolor a non-costume item
Palettes apply to an eligible costume. Sprays, nameplates, emotes, and accessories are separate catalog categories. Select the costume entry itself and look for Customize; do not expect the same control on an emote or accessory page.
Quick-equip behavior is separate from palette customization
The Version 20250508 patch notes also introduced a quick-equip feature for other cosmetics. On acquisition, emotes can be automatically slotted into the corresponding hero’s emote wheel. When the spray wheel is set to Apply to All, newly earned sprays can also be equipped instantly.
That convenience affects how newly acquired emotes and sprays are placed. It does not turn a non-customizable costume into a palette-enabled one, and it does not replace the Customize menu used for Rocket’s color variants.
How to decide whether a Rocket palette is worth buying
Choose it for presentation, not gameplay
The documented benefit is visual and presentational: the model, MVP animations, and emotes use the selected color treatment. If you want a different Rocket playstyle, abilities, or competitive advantage, a palette will not provide it.
Confirm the complete cost
Plan for two stages: acquiring the base costume and then buying the desired palette with Unstable Molecules. The live client is the reliable place to verify the amount because published prices and store rotations can change.
Check linked cosmetics before purchase
If MVP animations and emotes matter to you, preview the palette and the associated Rocket cosmetics before confirming. The cosmetics database lists several Rocket items, but it does not establish that every item is bundled with Sunshine Raccoon or every palette.
Use the icon as your final eligibility test
A costume’s name alone is not enough. The color-wheel icon is the clearest check that the current item exposes customization. This prevents buying a costume on the assumption that every Rocket skin can be recolored.
What can change after October 19, 2026
The available evidence does not establish a permanent list of eligible Rocket costumes, fixed prices, guaranteed store rotations, or a universal rule for future palettes. The cosmetics database page was last updated October 15, 2026, while the official store listing cited above dates from May 8, 2025. Live-service updates can add, remove, or reorganize cosmetics after those dates.
