To change Gemini’s spoken voice on Android, open the Gemini app and go to Settings > Gemini’s Voice. Choose a voice to preview it, then tap Confirm. Voice choices vary by language, and the selected voice applies to Gemini’s verbal responses, including Gemini Live and Listen.
Change Gemini’s spoken voice
- Open the Gemini app on your Android device.
- Open the menu or tap your profile picture or initial.
- Tap Settings, then Gemini’s Voice.
- Tap a voice name to preview it.
- Tap Confirm to select it.
Google says this voice setting applies to Gemini Apps features where Gemini responds aloud, including Gemini Live and Listen. The voice-selection control is not available in every language, and the number of choices depends on the language. See Google’s instructions for changing Gemini’s voice.

Change Gemini’s language separately
To change the language used for Gemini’s menus and other text, open the app menu or profile, then tap Settings > Languages and choose a language. Google says this setting also affects languages used with Hey Google or the prompt microphone. It is separate from the spoken-voice selection.
Google also says Gemini can understand and reply in supported languages when you type or speak in Gemini Live regardless of the app’s language setting. See Google’s Android language-setting guidance.

Adjust Gemini Live interruptions and captions
Choose whether speech can interrupt Gemini
In Gemini Live, the Interrupt Live responses setting determines whether you can speak to interrupt Gemini while it is responding. If speech interruption is off, you can still interrupt by tapping the screen.
Turn on and adjust captions
Captions can be enabled during a Gemini Live session. To adjust their size or style, open Gemini settings and go to Caption preferences. Google’s Gemini Live guidance for Android covers these controls.
