Finish Egghead before starting Elbaf. In the manga, Egghead runs through chapter 1126 and Elbaf begins with chapter 1127. In the anime, complete episode 1155, then start Elbaph with episode 1156. This order matters because Egghead establishes the Gear 5, Warrior of Liberation and Sun God Nika terminology that Elbaf develops.
The fastest path is the manga; the anime takes longer but adds voice acting, music, motion and expanded scene presentation. The routes below use the official chapter and episode mapping available as of October 19, 2026.

For print readers, Volume 111 is titled Elbaf Adventure and collects chapters 1122–1133. Because those chapters straddle the end of Egghead and the opening of Elbaf, the volume is a transition volume rather than a clean substitute for starting at chapter 1127.

Why Egghead comes before Elbaf
Egghead supplies the terminology and story context that later Sun God discussions assume. The official synopsis for anime episode 1100 identifies Luffy’s Gear 5 as the “Warrior of Liberation” and the “Sun God Nika.” Those labels are not optional background if your goal is to understand why Elbaf’s early chapters and episodes treat the Sun God as a major subject.
The official page for episode 1158 is titled “The Secret of the Sun God” and maps the Elbaf story to manga chapter 1127 onward. Starting Elbaf without completing Egghead can therefore make the identity, symbolism and stakes around Nika feel as if they appeared without explanation.
This order also prevents a common mistake: treating the end of Egghead as the end of the relevant lore. Egghead introduces the transformation and its historical language; Elbaf is where the story moves that discussion into a new setting and arc.
Manga catch-up: the controlled, fastest route
1. Read Egghead through chapter 1126
Use chapters 1058–1126 as the Egghead block. Beginning at 1058 keeps the official arc mapping intact rather than jumping into a later chapter because a synopsis looks familiar. Continue consecutively to chapter 1126 so the arc’s final developments are in place before you move to Elbaf.
If you have already read earlier material, you do not need to restart the entire series for this route. The relevant checkpoint is chapter 1058, not the beginning of the manga. Keep a note of the last chapter you completed, because chapter numbering is the most reliable way to resume across digital apps and collected editions.

2. Handle Volume 111 as an overlap
Volume 111, Elbaf Adventure, contains chapters 1122–1133. That range includes the final five chapters of the Egghead mapping and the opening chapters of Elbaf. If you read by volume, finish Volume 111 rather than stopping at its title or assuming every page belongs to the new arc.
If you read digitally by chapter, the cleaner boundary is chapter 1127. The volume and chapter routes are telling you the same story, but they divide it differently: the volume is a collected-book unit, while chapter 1127 is the practical arc handoff.

Start Elbaf at chapter 1127. Continue forward in order; do not skip to a chapter that mentions the Sun God because the surrounding chapters establish the setting, character reactions and information needed to interpret those references.
VIZ maintains an official English chapter archive covering the relevant range, including chapters from 1056 onward and the Elbaph-era chapters. Archive availability and access conditions can change, so check the current listing when you begin. The archive is useful when you want exact chapter control or need to verify whether a chapter was already read.
Anime catch-up: the complete audiovisual route
1. Finish Egghead at episode 1155
The official episode mapping places Egghead in episodes 1089–1155. Watch through episode 1155 before moving on; stopping earlier leaves the arc incomplete even if you recognize the Gear 5 material from clips or summaries.

Episode 1156 is the anime entry point for Elbaph after Egghead. Toei announced that the Elbaph Arc began airing in Japan on April 5, 2026, following the conclusion of Egghead Arc Part 2. The anime’s official spelling in these schedule materials is “Elbaph,” while the manga and volume title commonly use “Elbaf.” They refer to the same arc; the spelling difference is a label convention, not a separate storyline.
The official episode index listed Elbaph broadcasts through episode 1180 on September 27, 2026. That means the anime is already materially into the arc as of October 19, 2026, rather than waiting for a future premiere. If your service shows a different last available episode, the discrepancy is likely regional scheduling or catalog timing.
3. Use the anime when presentation matters
The anime adds performances, music, timing and visual staging that a chapter cannot reproduce. It is the better route if you want to experience reveals as directed scenes rather than as a rapid reading sequence. The cost is time: you must watch 67 Egghead episodes before reaching the Elbaph starting point, and new episodes may arrive later than their manga counterparts.
How the Sun God material connects across the two arcs
Egghead establishes the identity language
Episode 1100’s official synopsis gives the clearest checkpoint for the terminology: Vegapunk calls Luffy the “Warrior of Liberation” and the “Sun God Nika” while discussing Gear 5. That wording connects the visible transformation to a larger historical and mythic identity. Treat it as a foundation for later dialogue, not as a complete explanation of every mystery.

Elbaf turns the terminology into an arc question
The title of episode 1158, “The Secret of the Sun God,” signals that the Elbaf material examines the subject directly. The episode page maps that story to chapter 1127 onward, which is why reading or watching the earlier arc first is so important. The available official material identifies the subject and its narrative position; it does not provide a named-person quote revealing the ultimate answer, so no definitive final revelation should be assumed from a catch-up guide.
What this means for spoiler control
If you want to avoid Elbaf information, stop after your chosen Egghead endpoint and begin the new arc only when ready. Search results, thumbnails and episode titles can expose Sun God terminology before you reach the relevant scene. Use chapter or episode numbers rather than broad searches for “Nika reveal” when checking your progress.

A hybrid approach works best when you treat the manga as the continuity guide and the anime as an additional presentation. Finish the mapped Egghead material in one format before sampling the other; switching halfway through the same sequence makes it easy to miss a chapter or watch an episode twice.

Digital manga
The official English chapter archive maintained by VIZ includes the relevant post-1056 chapters and Elbaph-era chapters. Check the current archive for the chapters available in your region and for any access rules attached to the service.
Print manga
The official catalog lists Volume 111 as Elbaf Adventure and identifies its contents as chapters 1122–1133. Readers buying books should use the chapter list inside the volume to confirm where they stopped. Because the collection overlaps the arc boundary, purchasing Volume 111 does not mean you can skip chapters 1122–1126 or jump blindly to its final pages.

Streaming anime
Toei Animation and Crunchyroll’s March 2026 announcement named the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, Southeast Asia and Latin America among the streaming territories for the final Egghead English-dub batch and the Elbaph simulcast. Availability can vary by country and date, so an episode number shown in one territory may not be available in another on the same day.
The April 5, 2026 Elbaph start date is the Japanese broadcast announcement. Your local service may use a different release time, subtitle schedule or dub schedule. Confirm the catalog entry for episode 1156 rather than relying only on a calendar headline.
A practical catch-up checklist
- Choose manga, anime or a hybrid plan before starting.
- Use the route table to identify your Egghead endpoint.
- Record the last chapter or episode you complete in a note or bookmark.
- Finish Egghead completely before opening Elbaf or Elbaph search results.
- If reading print, check the chapter list in Volume 111 because it spans the transition.
- Move to the first Elbaf chapter or Elbaph episode shown for your chosen medium.
- When you reach Sun God references, remember that the identity language was introduced during Egghead and is being developed in the new arc.
- Check your local catalog for territory-specific release timing, especially for dubbed episodes.

Starting Elbaf at the wrong chapter
Some readers start at chapter 1122 because it appears in the title and contents of Volume 111. That chapter is still inside the official Egghead range. Use chapter 1127 as the manga handoff.

Starting the anime at a trailer or special
Promotional videos and recap material may use “Elbaph” before the arc’s first numbered episode. The numbered anime starting point is episode 1156. Finish episode 1155 first.
Assuming the manga and anime use identical spelling
“Elbaf” appears in the manga and the Volume 111 title, while official anime schedule material uses “Elbaph.” Search both spellings when checking catalogs, but do not treat them as separate arcs.
Expecting a final Sun God answer from the catch-up point
Official episode material establishes the Nika terminology and labels an Elbaph episode around the Sun God’s secret. It does not establish a complete ultimate reveal or a definitive named-person quotation. Keep those distinctions clear when reading summaries.
Ignoring release volatility
Episode indexes and streaming catalogs change by date and territory. The schedule facts here are current to October 19, 2026; future arc boundaries, episode availability and distribution can change. Recheck the official catalog when you resume after a long break.
