Open Pokémon GO during a shower, especially from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. local time, when shooting stars appear in the game sky and Minior encounters are more likely. Catch Minior across the rotating showers, then check each Pokémon’s registered core color to build a collection of all seven: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.
The shell does not reveal the core color in the overworld. Minior is encountered with its shell intact; the advertised shell-breaking change is a battle mechanic that occurs when its health falls below 50% in battles against Team GO Rocket, team leaders or in GO Battle League.

When and where Minior spawns
Minior is a wild encounter tied to Minior Shower events. During each published window it appears in Meteor Form, rather than as an exposed core. The event schedule uses your local time, so the start and end moments depend on the time zone set by the game’s event schedule, not on a single worldwide clock.
The Pokémon GO announcement describes a daily encounter boost from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. local time. During those four hours, the in-game sky is lit by shooting stars and your chance of finding Minior is increased. The boost is not a guarantee: you still need to open the map, move through areas with active wild spawns and tap individual encounters.

Published Minior Shower windows
The following are the recurring windows published for the current event cycle. Each start is at 5:00 p.m. local time; each listed end is 11:59 p.m. local time. Future announcements can adjust dates, times or featured colors, so treat this table as a planning calendar rather than a permanent guarantee.
| Shower | Published window (local time) | Best daily hunting period |
|---|---|---|
| Orionids | October 19 at 5:00 p.m. through October 24 at 11:59 p.m. | 5:00–9:00 p.m. each day |
| Leonids | November 14 at 5:00 p.m. through November 19 at 11:59 p.m. | 5:00–9:00 p.m. each day |
| Geminids | December 11 at 5:00 p.m. through December 16 at 11:59 p.m. | 5:00–9:00 p.m. each day |
| Eta Aquariids | May 3 at 5:00 p.m. through May 8 at 11:59 p.m. | 5:00–9:00 p.m. each day |
| Southern Delta Aquariids | July 28 at 5:00 p.m. through August 2 at 11:59 p.m. | 5:00–9:00 p.m. each day |
| Perseids | August 10 at 5:00 p.m. through August 15 at 11:59 p.m. | 5:00–9:00 p.m. each day |
Because the windows cross calendar dates at different local times, check the in-game event notice before planning a late-night session. A player who starts at 4:55 p.m. will not yet be in the advertised shooting-star period; a player who starts at 9:00 p.m. has reached the end of the daily increased-chance block even though the shower itself continues until the event’s final date.
Each shower gives several possible evenings rather than one raid-style appointment. If you miss the first day, the same 5:00–9:00 p.m. boost returns on the following days of that window. The final day still ends at 11:59 p.m., so do not confuse the four-hour daily effect with the end of the overall event. A calendar reminder is useful, but the event panel in Pokémon GO should settle any difference between a reminder and the live schedule.

- Confirm the active event. Read the current Pokémon GO news or Today View entry and verify that the date and local-time window match your location. The six windows above are recurring, but event details can change.
- Open the map during the boost. Aim for the 5:00–9:00 p.m. local period, when the sky effect and increased encounter chance are active. You can still look at other times during the shower, but the announcement does not promise the same increased chance outside those hours.
- Walk where spawns and PokéStops are active. The practical routine is to move through populated areas with regular wild encounters and accessible PokéStops. Keep the map open and refresh it as you move so newly generated encounters appear.
- Tap every Minior encounter. Minior is presented in Meteor Form in the wild. Tap the encounter, complete the normal catch sequence and wait for the capture result before moving on. The event notice does not identify a biome, lure, Incense setting or throw technique that selects a particular core color.
- Record the registered form. After the catch, inspect the Pokémon’s form information or Pokédex registration and write down the core color. Do not infer the color from the shell shown before the encounter; the shell is the Meteor Form appearance.
- Repeat across later showers. One session is not a reliable way to obtain all seven colors because the event rotates featured colors and can differ by hemisphere. Keep playing the published windows and update your checklist after every catch.
What the event does not guarantee
- An active shower does not guarantee that a Minior will be on your map at a specific location.
- The four-hour shooting-star period increases encounter chances but does not publish an encounter-rate percentage.
- No official rule says that a specific biome, PokéStop, lure, Incense, throw or route produces a chosen core color.
- The official announcement does not publish shiny odds, color odds or a guaranteed color for each date.
Minior’s Meteor Form and exposed-core form
Minior’s signature change is tied to battle health. The official wording says: “Minior will battle in its Meteor Form until its health is reduced to below 50%, when it will change its form and expose its core.” In other words, the shell break is triggered during combat, not by catching the Pokémon in the wild.
The two battle states trade offensive and defensive strength:
| Form | When you see it | Stat emphasis |
|---|---|---|
| Meteor Form | Wild encounters and the opening part of the advertised battles | Higher Defense and lower Attack |
| Exposed-core form | After Minior’s health falls below 50% in the supported battles | Higher Attack and lower Defense |
The event announcement initially limits this form-change behavior to battles against Team GO Rocket, team leaders or in GO Battle League. Catching Minior gives you the Pokémon; it does not make the shell visibly crack during the catch screen. If you want to observe the mechanic, use one of those battle contexts and watch the health threshold rather than trying to trigger it with a wild catch.
The species description explains the fiction behind the behavior: Minior eats dust in the upper atmosphere, and the dust’s composition determines its core color. When its health drops to half or less, its shell breaks and the Pokémon becomes aggressive. That Pokédex explanation is background flavor; the event rules above determine how the mechanic operates in Pokémon GO.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Notice the distinction between a caught Pokémon’s registered color and its temporary battle state. The color belongs to the Minior you collect, while Meteor Form and exposed-core form describe what happens as its battle health changes. Seeing a shell break in a battle does not create a new color, reroll the Pokémon or reveal a second individual; it displays the same Minior in its battle form.
All seven Minior core colors
The complete set contains seven registered core colors:
- Red Core
- Orange Core
- Yellow Core
- Green Core
- Blue Core
- Indigo Core
- Violet Core
The announcement says that a different core color makes its Pokémon GO debut during each meteor shower. It also warns that the Geminids, Southern Delta Aquariids and related events can feature different debut colors in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. That means a player in one hemisphere should not assume that a friend elsewhere will see the same color during the same named shower.

- Spin PokéStops or throw Poké Balls automatically in Pokémon GO for hands-free gameplay (and Great Balls and Ultra Balls can be thrown too!)
Because the published notice names the seven colors but does not provide a complete color-to-shower table, there is no reliable basis for promising “the red one is on this date” or assigning a color to a particular event in advance. Later official event notices may identify the featured color for a specific region; until then, use the event windows as opportunities and verify every catch in your own collection.
A practical seven-color tracking method
- Create seven entries labeled Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet.
- After each catch, open the Pokémon’s details or Pokédex form view and mark the exact registered core color.
- Keep duplicate catches listed separately if you want specimens for trading, battle testing or different appraisal outcomes, but count a color as collected only after its form is registered.
- At the end of each shower, identify the colors still missing and plan the next session around the next published window.
- If an official notice later specifies a hemisphere-specific debut, compare that notice with your location before traveling or scheduling a focused hunt.
This method avoids a common mistake: treating the shell model as proof of the core inside. The wild encounter shows Meteor Form, while the color is a property you confirm on the caught Pokémon’s registered form.
How hemisphere rotations affect your checklist
A named shower is not necessarily a worldwide color event. The Pokémon GO announcement explains that different core colors debut in different showers and that some events, including the Geminids and Southern Delta Aquariids, can have Northern and Southern Hemisphere differences. Your location therefore matters when you compare your checklist with another player’s results.
Do not travel or trade on the assumption that a friend’s report identifies the color currently available to you. First check a later official event notice for the region and hemisphere concerned. If no notice gives a color, the only dependable record is the form registered on your own catches. This is also why a missing color after one evening is not evidence that the color is unavailable; it may be scheduled for another shower or another hemisphere.
Planning sessions around local time
Each shower lasts several calendar days, which gives you multiple daily chances instead of a single raid-style appointment. A simple plan is to choose one or more evenings inside the window, begin shortly before 5:00 p.m., and remain active through the four-hour boost. If work, school or daylight prevents that schedule, play at another time during the same shower and use the 5:00–9:00 period on a different day.

Check the local clock shown by your device and the event’s in-game end time. The table’s final moments are 11:59 p.m. local time, so a session that crosses midnight can move from the last day into a non-event day. The game’s announcement is the authority when an in-app timer differs from a calendar reminder.
Starting a few minutes before 5:00 p.m. lets you be on the map when the visual effect begins, but it does not activate the boost early. Likewise, remaining on the map after 9:00 p.m. can still produce ordinary encounters during the shower, yet the announcement only promises the increased chance during the four-hour block. Plan several shorter evenings if one four-hour walk is impractical.
Using Pokémon GO Plus + during a long hunt
Pokémon GO Plus + is an optional Bluetooth accessory for players who plan to walk for several hours. Official support information for the Plus +, Poké Ball Plus and Pokémon GO Plus describes alerts for nearby Pokémon, attempts to catch Pokémon and PokéStop spinning. Nintendo’s support information also says the Plus + can catch Pokémon and spin PokéStops and charges from a compatible USB power source.
The accessory can reduce the need to keep the phone screen active while you walk, but it does not create Minior encounters, increase the shower’s spawn rate, select a core color or guarantee a successful catch. It also cannot replace the app when you need to inspect a newly caught Pokémon and register its color manually. Check current regional compatibility, battery needs and account-pairing requirements before relying on it for an event session.

Use the device as a convenience rather than as a color-hunting strategy. It may attempt catches while you move between PokéStops, but every automatic result still needs a later check in the Pokémon list. A missed catch or an unregistered color cannot be corrected by the accessory itself, and the official product descriptions do not promise a special Minior interaction.

Common problems and fixes
No Minior appears
First verify that the current date falls inside one of the published shower windows and that you are using local time. If the shower is active but you are outside 5:00–9:00 p.m., you are outside the announced increased-chance period. Move through an area with active wild spawns and PokéStops, refresh the map and continue checking individual encounters.
The sky has no shooting stars
The visual effect is tied to the daily 5:00–9:00 p.m. local-time period. Check your device clock, the event’s local-time wording and the in-game event panel. A missing effect outside that period does not indicate that the whole shower has ended.
A caught Minior does not show a core
That is expected for an encounter obtained in Meteor Form. The shell-break animation is associated with supported battles after the health threshold is crossed. Open the caught Pokémon’s form or Pokédex entry to identify its registered color instead of waiting for the catch screen to expose it.
You are missing one or more colors
Do not assume that a missing color is tied to a specific date unless a later official notice confirms it. Continue through every published shower, track the form after each catch and account for Northern and Southern Hemisphere differences. The official material does not publish color odds, so a short session cannot establish that a color is unavailable.
The accessory catches other Pokémon but not Minior
Pokémon GO Plus + only attempts catches and spins when the game presents eligible nearby interactions. It does not force a Minior spawn or choose which species appears. Keep the app open during the active event, use the accessory as a convenience and manually inspect catches afterward for their core colors.
Seven-color collection checklist
- Confirm the active Minior Shower and its local start and end times.
- Schedule at least one session during the 5:00–9:00 p.m. shooting-star period.
- Walk through areas with active wild spawns and PokéStops.
- Tap every Minior and catch it in Meteor Form.
- Check the caught Pokémon’s registered core color.
- Mark red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo or violet on your personal list.
- Repeat during later showers and consult new official notices for hemisphere-specific color information.
Frequently asked questions
When does Minior spawn in Pokémon GO?
Minior appears in the wild during the published Minior Shower windows. The listed recurring windows are Orionids, October 19–24; Leonids, November 14–19; Geminids, December 11–16; Eta Aquariids, May 3–8; Southern Delta Aquariids, July 28–August 2; and Perseids, August 10–15. Each date uses local time, and later announcements can change the schedule.
What is the best time of day to look?
From 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. local time every day during an active shower, the game sky shows shooting stars and Minior encounter chances are increased. This is the strongest published hunting period, not a guarantee that a Minior will appear at a particular stop.
Can I catch Minior outside the four-hour boost?
The shower window covers more than those four hours, so you can still check the map at other times during the event. However, the announcement specifically promises the increased encounter chance and shooting-star sky from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. local time.
How do I get all seven Minior cores?
Play across the rotating showers, catch every Minior you encounter and inspect each Pokémon’s registered form. Mark Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet on a checklist. Since some debut colors can differ between hemispheres and no complete color-to-shower table is published, use later event notices to refine your plan.
Does Minior change form when I catch it?
No. Wild Minior is encountered in Meteor Form with its shell intact. The advertised change occurs in supported battles when its health is reduced to below 50 percent. Inspect the caught Pokémon’s details or Pokédex registration to identify its core color.

Can the shell show which core color I caught?
No official rule says that the Meteor Form shell displayed in the overworld identifies the core. Treat the shell as the encounter form and verify the color after capture through the Pokémon’s registered form information.
Do lures, Incense, biomes or throws select a color?
The event notice does not identify any biome, PokéStop, lure, Incense setting, throw technique or route that selects a core color. Those claims should not replace the published strategy of hunting during the event and checking each catch.
Are Minior color odds or shiny odds published?
No percentage for encounter rates, core-color odds or shiny odds is given in the announcement described here. The 5:00–9:00 p.m. period is an increased-chance window, but it is not a stated rate and cannot be used to calculate how many catches guarantee a color.
Does Pokémon GO Plus + increase my chance of finding a color?
No. Plus + can alert you to nearby Pokémon, attempt catches and spin PokéStops, making a long walk easier. It does not create encounters, raise the shower’s spawn rate, select a core color or replace manual form checking.
Bottom line
Catch Minior during an active Minior Shower, with priority given to 5:00–9:00 p.m. local time when shooting stars and increased encounter chances are active. Every wild encounter is in Meteor Form, so use the caught Pokémon’s registered form to identify Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo or Violet. Complete the set by returning for later showers, watching for hemisphere-specific announcements and avoiding unsupported promises about colors, odds or special catching methods.

Frequently Asked Questions
When does Minior spawn in Pokémon GO?
Minior appears in the wild during published Minior Shower windows. The recurring windows are Orionids (October 19–24), Leonids (November 14–19), Geminids (December 11–16), Eta Aquariids (May 3–8), Southern Delta Aquariids (July 28–August 2) and Perseids (August 10–15), using local time.
What time is best for finding Minior?
From 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. local time each day during a shower, shooting stars appear in the sky and Minior encounter chances increase. This is an increased chance, not a guaranteed spawn.
How can I collect all seven Minior colors?
Catch Minior across multiple showers, inspect each Pokémon’s registered form and mark Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet on a checklist. Some debut colors can differ by hemisphere, so follow later official event notices.
Does Minior reveal its core when caught?
No. Wild Minior is caught in Meteor Form with its shell intact. The shell breaks in supported battles after health falls below 50%; check the caught Pokémon’s form or Pokédex registration for its color.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsDo lures or Incense determine Minior’s color?
No such mechanic is published. The event does not identify a biome, PokéStop, lure, Incense, throw or route that selects a specific core color.
Does Pokémon GO Plus + improve Minior odds?
No. Plus + can alert you to nearby Pokémon, attempt catches and spin PokéStops, but it does not create Minior encounters, increase spawn rates or choose a color.
The Bottom Line
Hunt Minior during the published showers, prioritize 5:00–9:00 p.m. local time, and verify every caught Pokémon’s registered core color. Return for later windows to complete all seven colors, especially when hemisphere-specific event notices change which core debuts.
