A full-page setting captures the page’s current scrollable extent, but it does not necessarily trigger lazy-loaded images or fetch content that an infinite-scroll page has not loaded yet.
Why images are missing from a full-page screenshot
Some pages defer loading offscreen images until they approach or enter the viewport. If you capture the page before scrolling, those image requests may never have started. A full-page screenshot changes how much of the page is captured, not necessarily which scroll-triggered content the site has loaded.

The trigger and delay depend on the site’s scripts and behavior, the browser, and the connection. Infinite-scroll pages add another condition: scrolling may be what prompts the page to fetch additional items. A screenshot can include only the content the page has actually made available at capture time.

- Open the page and let its initial content load.
- Scroll down in manageable increments. Pause when images are still loading, and check that the actual image content appears rather than relying only on a timer.
- Continue through the portion you want to preserve. On an infinite-scroll page, keep scrolling until the page has fetched all the content you intend to capture.
- Use the browser’s full-page screenshot feature or a scrolling screenshot utility.
- Inspect the resulting image. If an area is blank, return to that part of the page, wait for it to render, and capture again.
This approach can trigger ordinary scroll-dependent loading, but it does not guarantee that a site’s custom scripts, authentication requirements, or anti-automation checks will behave as expected.

Automate the capture with Playwright
Playwright supports full-page screenshots and screenshots of individual elements. Its documentation defines fullPage: true as capturing the full scrollable page instead of only the visible viewport. For lazy-loaded content, scroll through the relevant area first, then wait for a page-specific signal that the target images or content are ready.

A useful readiness check might wait for a target image to be visible or for an application-specific loaded state. If you only need one region, use a locator screenshot rather than capturing the entire page.

Do not treat networkidle as proof that the image is ready. Playwright marks that load state as discouraged for readiness checks: a page can keep making background requests, or become quiet before the desired image has rendered. Prefer a web assertion tied to the content you need.

- Open Chrome DevTools and select the Network panel.
- In the Network panel settings, enable screenshot capture.
- Reload the page while the Network panel is focused so DevTools records frames during loading.
- Hover over a screenshot thumbnail to locate its time in the overview. Select a thumbnail to filter requests that happened after that frame.
- Check whether the image request began only after scrolling or whether the image had not appeared at the selected point.
To approximate a first-time visit, disable the cache before reloading; otherwise, cached resources can make repeat visits behave differently.

Choose the capture method that fits the job

Troubleshooting blank or missing images
- The image is blank in the initial capture: Scroll until it approaches or enters the viewport, wait for the image itself to appear, and recapture.
- The bottom of an infinite-scroll page is missing: Scroll farther to prompt the page to fetch more items; confirm the intended content is present before capturing.
- The automation finishes but an image is still absent: Replace a generic timing assumption with a page-specific condition that checks the target image or application state.
networkidleoccurs but the page is not ready: Use a web assertion or another signal tied to the content you need; network quiet alone does not establish that it rendered.- The image appears on repeat visits but not a fresh load: Disable the browser cache in DevTools while diagnosing, then inspect when the request begins.
- Scrolling does not load the image: The site may use custom script behavior or require authentication, or its request may have failed. Check the relevant Network requests and page state; scrolling alone cannot guarantee that every site will load successfully.
