What’s actually slowing this PC down?

For a one-off portfolio image, open the page in Firefox, choose its screenshot action, then select Save full page. For more control over the target, timing, resolution, or filename, use Firefox DevTools. If you need repeatable captures across pages, use Playwright. Whichever route you take, inspect the saved image before adding it to your portfolio.
What a full-page screenshot captures
A full-page screenshot includes content beyond the portion of the website currently visible in the browser window. It is useful when a portfolio needs to show an entire page, but the resulting image can be very tall. If your goal is to emphasize a page section or hero rather than document the whole layout, an element capture may work better.

Quickest method: Firefox’s screenshot action
- Open the website in Firefox and wait for the content and visual state you want to show.
- Open Firefox’s screenshot action and select Save full page.
- Download the image, or copy it to the clipboard and paste it into your portfolio editor.
Firefox saves a downloaded screenshot in the browser’s default download location. The filename includes the capture date and time and the page title, according to Mozilla Support’s instructions for taking screenshots in Firefox.

Firefox DevTools provides a :screenshot helper in the Web Console. Its options let you capture the full page, target an element, wait before capture, choose device pixel ratio, and set a PNG filename. See Firefox Source Docs: Taking screenshots for the documented syntax and options.
#1 Best Overall
--fullpageincludes parts of the webpage outside the current window bounds.--selectorcaptures a selected element and its descendants. Use the selector for a hero, card, or other specific section instead of a long page.--delaywaits before the capture. This can help when you want to capture a particular intended state, such as an open menu.--dprsets the device pixel ratio.--filenamesets the PNG filename.
For example, enter :screenshot --fullpage --filename=portfolio-home.png in the Web Console to request a full-page capture with that filename. Check the helper’s documentation for the exact option syntax supported by your Firefox version. Reusing a filename overwrites the previous image, so use a distinct, descriptive name for each portfolio version.
Repeatable captures: Playwright
Playwright can take a full-page screenshot from a script. Its API describes this as capturing the full scrollable page as if it were displayed on a screen tall enough to fit it all. The documented API call is:
Rank #2
await page.screenshot({ path: 'screenshot.png', fullPage: true });
This call assumes you already have a Playwright page open on the URL you want to capture. For a complete setup, install Playwright for your chosen language and browser, navigate to the target page, then run the screenshot call. See Playwright’s Screenshots guide.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesPlaywright’s CLI also documents viewport, element, and full-page screenshots, custom filenames, PNG, JPEG and WebP output, and a high-resolution mode that captures device pixels. Consult Playwright: Screenshots & PDF for the current command options and syntax.

Choose the method for the portfolio job
| Method | Best fit | Useful controls |
|---|---|---|
| Firefox screenshot action | A one-off capture with minimal setup | Save the full page, download the image, or copy it to the clipboard |
| Firefox DevTools | A manual capture needing a particular target or timing | Full page or selector, delay, device pixel ratio, filename |
| Playwright | Repeated captures or consistent variants across multiple pages | Scripted full-page capture; CLI options include output formats and high-resolution mode |
Before capturing, decide whether the portfolio needs the whole page or just one feature, and choose a viewport and resolution that make the design legible. For repeated work, use a consistent naming convention so that page, viewport, and version are easy to distinguish. After capture, open the image and check that delayed content, long-page sections, and the intended visual state appear as expected. These are practical workflow checks, not a guarantee that every site will render identically.
Troubleshooting common capture problems
- The image only shows the visible window: use Firefox’s Save full page option or the DevTools
--fullpageoption; in Playwright, setfullPage: true. - The wrong page area is captured: check the element selector if you used one, or remove it if you intended to capture the whole page.
- A menu or other state is missing: make that state appear before capture; in DevTools,
--delaycan wait for a brief moment before the screenshot. - An earlier image disappears: the DevTools helper overwrites an image when you reuse its filename. Choose a new filename for each version.
- The result looks too small or too large: review the viewport and device-pixel-ratio settings available in your chosen method, then capture again and inspect the output at the size it will appear in your portfolio.
- The page looks incomplete or unusual: dynamic and delayed pages may need another capture after the intended content has loaded. Review the finished image rather than assuming a capture completed as expected.
