For a repeatable full-page screenshot, use Playwright’s fullPage: true option; for a one-off capture, Firefox DevTools has a built-in full-page screenshot control. A full-page image covers the scrollable document rather than only the part visible in the browser window. Interactive content may need to be opened or loaded first, so check the resulting image for missing sections or the wrong state.
What a full-page screenshot captures
A full-page screenshot captures the scrollable page as one tall image, rather than only the current viewport. Playwright describes it as a page displayed on a very tall screen (Playwright Screenshots). That makes it useful for documenting page layout, charts, or visual bugs. It is not a substitute for reading page text or understanding its structure and interactions; for those tasks, pair the image with an accessibility snapshot where available.

Capture a page manually in Firefox
- Open the website in Firefox and open Developer Tools.
- If the screenshot button is missing, open DevTools settings and enable Take a screenshot of the entire page under Available Toolbox Buttons.
- Use the screenshot button to capture the full page, then inspect the saved image for the content and state you intended to capture.
For more control, open the Web Console and use Firefox’s :screenshot helper. Mozilla documents the helper and its options in Taking screenshots.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →:screenshot --fullpagecaptures the full page.:screenshot --delay 2 --fullpagewaits two seconds before capture. Adjust the delay to give yourself time to open a menu or invoke a hover state.--selectortargets an element and its descendants.--clipboardcopies the screenshot to the clipboard.--dprsets the device-pixel ratio.
Use the helper’s filename options if you need to choose an output name. A delay gives you time to trigger a state; it does not itself open the menu or guarantee that a dynamic page has finished loading.

Automate full-page captures with Playwright
Playwright’s Page screenshot API uses fullPage: true to capture the full scrollable page instead of only the viewport. The following example assumes you already have a Playwright page open on the target website:
await page.screenshot({ path: 'screenshot.png', fullPage: true });
For example, in an existing script, navigate to the page, wait for a meaningful page-specific readiness signal, perform any required interaction, then capture:
await page.goto('https://example.com');
await page.locator('main').waitFor();
await page.screenshot({ path: 'screenshot.png', fullPage: true });
Replace the example URL and readiness condition with ones appropriate to your page. A locator appearing may not mean that every image, chart, or asynchronous section is ready. Prefer a specific signal that matches the content you need. Playwright documents load-state waits and screenshot options in its Page API; it labels networkidle as discouraged for testing, so a quiet network by itself is not proof that an interactive page is complete.

Capture an interactive state
Perform the interaction before taking the screenshot, then wait for the expected rendered state. For example, click a menu button, wait for the menu to become visible, and capture after that condition is met. Firefox’s delay option can provide time to trigger a state manually; Playwright scripts should trigger it explicitly. In either case, inspect the image to confirm the menu, tooltip, or other transient content actually appears.
Capture one element instead of the whole page
If only one section is needed, use Firefox’s --selector option or Playwright’s locator-based screenshot options. Firefox documents that its selector capture includes the selected element and descendants. Playwright’s screenshot API also supports targeting an element; consult the Page API for the relevant options.
Choose the output format and scale
Choose output settings based on what the image is for. Playwright documents PNG, JPEG, and WebP formats, along with image sizing and device-scale options (Playwright CLI screenshot; Page API). Firefox’s helper can save a file or copy the capture to the clipboard, and its --dpr option adjusts device-pixel ratio (Mozilla Firefox Source Docs).

- Compatible with Nintendo Switch 2’s new GameChat mode
- HD lighting adjustment and autofocus: The Logitech webcam automatically fine-tunes the lighting, producing bright, razor-sharp images even in low-light settings. This makes it a great webcam for streaming and an ideal web camera for laptop use
- Advanced capture software: Easily create and share video content with this Logitech camera that is suitable for use as a desktop computer camera or a monitor webcam

- Full HD 1080p video calling and recording at 30 fps. You'll make a strong impression with this PC webcam that features crisp, clearly detailed, and vibrantly colored video
- Use a format and size suited to your workflow; higher-resolution captures create more pixels to store or share.
- Remember that high-resolution device-pixel coordinates do not align directly with CSS-pixel mouse coordinates, as the Playwright CLI documentation notes.
- If the goal is to inspect text, semantics, or interaction, do not rely on pixels alone. Playwright’s CLI guide points to accessibility snapshots for text and structure, and screenshots for visual layout, chart or canvas content, and bug documentation.
Handle pages that change as you scroll
Full-page capture controls define the intended capture area, but they do not guarantee that every site will render all content correctly in one image. Content loaded only after scrolling, virtualized lists, nested scroll areas, and other dynamic implementations can behave differently. The documentation does not establish universal handling for these cases.
- Load the page and trigger the states or scroll actions needed to make the target content appear.
- Wait for the specific content you need rather than assuming a fixed delay or quiet network is enough.
- Capture the page or element, then inspect the image for gaps, repeated sections, clipped content, or missing state.
- If a section lives in a nested scrolling area or appears only after interaction, consider capturing that element separately after bringing it into the required state.
Firefox DevTools or Playwright?
| Need | Firefox DevTools | Playwright |
|---|---|---|
| Occasional manual capture | Use the full-page screenshot toolbar button or Web Console helper. | Use the CLI screenshot command if Playwright CLI is installed. |
| Repeatable automation | Console commands with named options can be rerun manually. | The Page API exposes fullPage for scripted capture. |
| Target one element | --selector captures the element and descendants. |
Use screenshot options for a locator or element. |
| Show a menu or hover state | --delay allows time to trigger the state before capture. |
Perform the action, wait for its rendered state, and verify the result. |
| Output and pixel controls | Helper options include clipboard, filename, and device-pixel ratio. | Options include a file path, image formats, and CSS- or device-pixel sizing. |
| Read text or structure | The screenshot is a visual artifact. | Use an accessibility snapshot for text, structure, and interaction information. |
Troubleshooting missing or incorrect content
The result shows only the viewport
In Firefox, use the full-page screenshot control or add --fullpage to the Web Console helper. In Playwright, pass fullPage: true to the screenshot call.
A menu or hover state is absent
Trigger the state before capture. In Firefox, use --delay to leave time for the manual action; in Playwright, perform the action in the script and wait for the expected state.

Ideal for conferencing, gaming, streaming, recording, and online learning.
Images or lower sections are blank
The page may load content as it is scrolled or after asynchronous work. Scroll or otherwise trigger the content, wait for a relevant page-specific signal, capture again, and inspect the output. A full-page option alone does not establish that every lazy-loaded or virtualized item was rendered.
The image is hard to use for pixel-based interaction
Check whether the screenshot uses device-pixel scaling. High-resolution pixel coordinates may not match the page’s CSS-pixel coordinates. Adjust scale as appropriate for the task.
You need text rather than a picture
Use an accessibility snapshot or another structural representation alongside the screenshot. An image alone cannot reliably communicate page semantics or interaction details.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I capture a full-page screenshot from the browser without writing a script?
Yes. Firefox DevTools provides a full-page screenshot control, and its Web Console supports the :screenshot --fullpage helper.
Does a full-page screenshot include content that appears only after scrolling?
Not necessarily. Trigger the content, wait for it to render, and inspect the result; full-page capture alone does not guarantee coverage of lazy-loaded or virtualized content.
