How to Capture an Entire Webpage When It Uses Infinite Scrolling

Scroll through the feed range you need before taking a full-page screenshot. Chrome and Firefox can capture beyond the viewport, but endless or virtualized feeds still need verification.

For an infinite-scroll page, first scroll through the content you need so the site has a chance to load it, then use a full-page screenshot and check the result. Chrome DevTools and Firefox both document full-page capture, but neither promises to fetch every item in an unbounded or virtualized feed. If one image misses content, capture overlapping sections or make a document/text record instead.

Why a full-page screenshot may miss an infinite-scroll feed

A regular screenshot records the visible viewport. A full-page command is intended to include content beyond it, but an infinite-scroll site may not have loaded that content yet: it often adds items only as you approach the bottom. Some pages also use virtualization, keeping only part of the feed rendered at a time. So a very tall image is not proof that every item was captured.

Decide what “entire” means for your task: the currently loaded page, a defined range of feed items, or every item the site might ever load. The first two can be captured and checked; an unbounded feed has no final bottom to include.

Chrome: capture the full page after loading the desired range

  1. Open the page and scroll gradually through the range you want. Pause when necessary for new items to load; stop at the last item you need.

  2. Open Chrome DevTools and turn on Device Mode if needed.

  3. In Device Mode, open More options and choose Capture a full size screenshot. Chrome documents this option as capturing the whole page, including content outside the viewport: Chrome DevTools Device Mode.

  4. Open the saved image and verify that it includes the first, middle, and last items you intended to capture. Check for gaps, repeated fixed headers, clipped content, or blank areas.

The full-size command captures the page as rendered; it is not documented as a way to make an endless feed load every possible item automatically.

Firefox: use the full-page screenshot button or console command

Enable the screenshot button

  1. Open Developer Tools settings and enable Take a screenshot of the entire page under Available Toolbox Buttons.

  2. Scroll the page through the range you need and allow its items to load.

  3. Use the screenshot button. Mozilla says the image is saved to Downloads.

Use the Web Console

Mozilla also documents this command:

:screenshot <filename.png> --fullpage

The --fullpage option includes portions outside the current window bounds. See Mozilla Firefox’s screenshot documentation for the button and command details. As with Chrome, load the required feed extent first, then inspect the output; the documentation does not promise a universal procedure for every dynamic feed.

If the screenshot still misses items

Or skip the browser setup

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request can return a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. Its full-page capture option loads lazy images, but an infinite-scroll feed can still be site-dependent: capture the range you need and verify the result.

Example using cURL (replace the URL with the page you want):

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for authentication and capture options. Cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for 1,000 free screenshots a month, with no card.
