First confirm that the Tamil text is visible and legible in your browser. For the portion on screen, press Windows key + Shift + S and select it with Snipping Tool. For a long page that extends below the screen, use Microsoft Edge’s Screenshot feature and choose a full-page capture. A screenshot records what the browser displays; it does not repair missing or malformed Tamil characters.
Choose the right capture method

Capture the visible page with Snipping Tool
- Open the webpage and position the Tamil text you want in view. Check that it appears correctly before capturing.
- Press Windows key + Shift + S to open the Snipping Tool capture overlay.
- Choose a rectangular, window, or full-screen capture mode, then capture the relevant page area.
- Open the resulting snip in Snipping Tool to edit or annotate it if needed, then use Save as to choose a filename and location. Microsoft says captures are also automatically saved to the Screenshots folder.
If you are capturing a transient menu, select a delay of 1 to 5 seconds in Snipping Tool, arrange the screen, and capture after the countdown. If your device has no PrtScn key, Microsoft documents Fn + Windows logo key + Space Bar as an alternate screenshot shortcut. Windows logo key + PrtScn may also work, depending on the hardware; screenshots are saved in Pictures > Screenshots.

Capture a full webpage in Microsoft Edge
- Open the page in Edge and invoke Screenshot from the right-click menu or Edge settings. The shortcut is Ctrl + Shift + S.
- Choose the full-page capture option rather than capturing only the visible area.
- Review the capture in the overlay, add markup if needed, then copy or save the image.
Edge’s feature availability and behavior can vary by device, market, and browser version. If Screenshot or its full-page option is missing, use Snipping Tool for what is visible or check the current Edge interface for your installation.

Type Tamil into a webpage if needed
You do not need a Tamil keyboard layout just to screenshot Tamil text already displayed on a webpage. If you need to enter Tamil, Windows includes Tamil input methods and keyboard layouts; adding one does not require changing the display language. Microsoft’s guidance says, “Using the IME doesn’t require changing your current Windows display language.”

- Choose Add a language, select Tamil, and install it.
- Switch between installed layouts with Windows key + Spacebar. Tamil 99 is installed by default; Tamil Phonetic can be added from Tamil’s language options.
- With Tamil Phonetic, type a transliteration using English keys and choose a suggestion. Microsoft’s example for “தோட்டம்” (garden) is
thottam. With Tamil 99, type using that layout.
Adding an input method helps you type Tamil; it is not a general fix for a webpage that displays boxes, missing glyphs, or malformed text.
Inspect and share the saved screenshot
Open the saved image at normal size and verify that the Tamil characters are legible and the desired page area is included. If the text was already missing or malformed in the browser, the screenshot will preserve that display rather than correct it.

Snipping Tool also documents a legacy browser capture that can save as HTML. For that HTML-only option, its URL line can be omitted by clearing Include URL below snips (HTML only) in Options. This setting does not describe ordinary image screenshots.

Troubleshooting
- The Tamil is already shown as boxes or malformed characters: Capture will not fix the rendering. The Windows input-method instructions concern typing, not a universal repair for a website’s font or browser rendering. Check the page in its normal browser view before taking the screenshot.
- Only the visible part of the page appears: Snipping Tool captures the selected screen area. For content below the viewport, use Edge Screenshot’s full-page option if it is available.
- The Edge Screenshot command is absent: Availability and functionality vary. Use Snipping Tool for visible content or consult the Edge interface on your device.
- The menu vanishes before capture: Set Snipping Tool’s delay from 1 to 5 seconds, then arrange the screen during the countdown.
- You cannot find the saved file: Check Snipping Tool’s Screenshots folder or use Save as to select a known location. Windows’ documented screenshot folder is Pictures > Screenshots.
- Your keyboard has no PrtScn key: Try Fn + Windows logo key + Space Bar, the alternate shortcut Microsoft documents for such devices.
