To hide Safari’s toolbar on an iPhone, open the page’s Page Menu and choose Hide Toolbar. Then take a screenshot as usual. For a webpage that extends beyond the screen, select Full Page in the screenshot preview; Apple lets you save that capture as an image in Photos or as a PDF in Files. Apple documents these as separate controls and does not guarantee that every Full Page capture omits the toolbar.
Hide Safari’s toolbar before taking a screenshot
- Open the website in Safari on your iPhone.
- Tap the Page Menu button beside the search field, then tap Hide Toolbar. Depending on the Safari layout, the option may be under the menu’s More control; look for the same label on your device. Apple’s Safari guide describes hiding the search field with this option: Customize your Safari settings on iPhone.
- Take the screenshot. On an iPhone with Face ID, quickly press and release the side button and volume-up button together. On an iPhone with a Home button, quickly press and release the side button and Home button together. See Apple’s Take a screenshot on iPhone guide.
To bring the toolbar back while browsing, tap the bottom edge of the screen.

Capture a full webpage instead of only what is visible
An ordinary screenshot records the visible screen. To capture content that extends beyond it, take a screenshot, tap its preview, and select Full Page. Apple gives an entire webpage in Safari as an example of content that can exceed the screen length.
- After taking the screenshot, tap the preview if it appears.
- Choose Full Page in the preview controls.
- Drag through the preview to inspect the longer capture, and crop it if needed.
- Save the result as an image in Photos, or choose Save PDF to Files.
Important: Hiding the toolbar changes Safari’s browsing view. Apple documents Full Page capture separately and does not say that every saved full-page result will exclude Safari’s toolbar. Check the preview and saved file before relying on a particular composition.

Choose the capture that fits your goal

If the Safari controls need to remain available while you browse, hide them only when you are ready to capture. For a full-page result, inspect the preview rather than assuming the toolbar will be absent.
Other ways to take an iPhone screenshot
Apple also lists Siri, AssistiveTouch, and Back Tap as alternatives to the hardware-button gesture. The cited guide identifies these options but does not provide their setup steps. The screenshot preview’s Full Page option is the part to use when you need content beyond the visible screen.

Optional screenshot format settings
Apple documents screenshot format options for SDR and HDR in Change the screen capture settings on iPhone. SDR screenshots use PNG, while HDR screenshots use HEIF. These settings are optional and are not required to hide Safari’s toolbar.
