In desktop Chrome, use DevTools’ Responsive mode and set the viewport to 411 × 814 CSS pixels for one measured Galaxy Z Fold7 portrait configuration with browser controls expanded. For the same measurement’s larger viewport height, use 411 × 870 CSS pixels. Set device pixel ratio (DPR) separately if needed, then choose a viewport or full-page screenshot. These are Fold7 measurements reported for Android 16 and Chrome 134.0.6998.135—not universal dimensions for every Galaxy Z Fold model or browser state.
Capture the Fold7 cover-screen layout in Chrome
- Open the website in Chrome on your desktop.
- Open DevTools and turn on the device toolbar. In the toolbar, keep the device setting on Responsive unless you have created a custom profile.
- Enter a width of 411 and a height of 814. Those CSS-pixel dimensions correspond to the measured Fold7 portrait viewport with browser controls expanded. To emulate the dataset’s larger viewport height, enter 411 × 870 instead. The measurements are from Effective Viewport’s Fold7 folded-device page.
- Set the device type to Mobile. If you need to test pixel-density-dependent rendering, set DPR separately to 2.625, the value reported in that same Fold7 measurement context.
- Choose More options > Capture screenshot for the visible viewport. Choose More options > Capture a full size screenshot to include the page below the fold. If a device frame is available for the selected device configuration and you want it in the image, enable Show device frame first.
- Check the screenshot at the intended orientation and browser-UI state. To verify behavior that depends on the real handset or browser, compare with a capture from the actual device.
Chrome’s Device Mode is an approximation: it helps emulate viewport and device conditions, but it does not run the page on a phone. See Google’s Device Mode documentation.

Choose the right viewport dimensions
For responsive layout testing, the width and height to enter are the browser’s CSS viewport dimensions—not necessarily the physical display resolution or a device’s advertised display size. Browser controls, orientation, operating-system scaling, and device posture can affect the space available to the page. DPR describes the relationship between physical screen pixels and CSS pixels; it is a separate setting from viewport width and height.

| Fold reference | Portrait CSS viewport | DPR | Measurement context |
|---|---|---|---|
| Galaxy Z Fold7, browser controls expanded (smaller viewport height) | 411 × 814 | 2.625 | Android 16 and Chrome 134.0.6998.135, as reported by Effective Viewport. |
| Galaxy Z Fold7, larger viewport height | 411 × 870 | 2.625 | Same reported device and browser context; the dataset distinguishes the smaller and larger viewport heights. |
| Original Galaxy Fold, historical example | 320 × 519 | Not stated in the 2020 guidance | Samsung Developer’s described worst-case front-screen configuration; not a current Fold7 specification. |
The Fold7 page also lists a device-size field of 412 × 960 CSS pixels. That field is not the same as its measured folded portrait browser viewport, which is 411 pixels wide and either 814 or 870 pixels tall. Choose the value that matches the browser state you are testing, and label the model and state when sharing results.

Do not reuse one Fold size for every model
“Galaxy Z Fold cover screen” can mean different devices and browser conditions. The 411 × 814 and 411 × 870 figures above are for a measured Fold7 configuration, not a Samsung display specification and not a confirmed setting for Fold6, Fold5, or the original Fold. Samsung Developer’s 2020 guidance for the original Galaxy Fold describes a 320 × 519 front-screen viewport in its stated worst-case configuration. It also notes that browser, orientation, multitasking, tabs, navigation controls, and screen zoom can change the available area, and that height may differ in other browsers.
For a repeatable comparison, record the exact Fold generation, portrait or landscape orientation, browser, browser-controls state, viewport width and height, DPR, and whether the screenshot is viewport-only or full-page. Use landscape measurements from the specific target configuration rather than extrapolating from the portrait values.

When to use a real phone instead of emulation
DevTools is useful for checking responsive layout at a chosen CSS viewport. It is not a substitute for the physical device when the result depends on device-specific behavior. Validate on the actual Fold if you need to confirm how the page behaves with that phone’s browser, controls, posture, or other hardware-dependent conditions. A handset is optional for following this tutorial; it is only needed for that real-device verification.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. Its API can return a screenshot in PNG, JPEG, or WebP, or a PDF. Set the viewport to the Fold7 dimensions you want to check; this call uses the 411 × 814 CSS-pixel reference. The API key is required. See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for request options.
Quick Recap
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
For this call, replace the target URL with the page you want to capture and supply the Fold7 viewport parameters supported by the API, such as width and height. ScreenshotNeo removes cookie/consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for AI agents using Claude, Cursor, or another MCP client. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for 1,000 free screenshots a month, with no card required.
Troubleshooting the capture
- The page layout does not match the Fold cover screen. Confirm the exact model and viewport state, enter CSS viewport dimensions rather than device-size figures, and check that Device Type is set to Mobile.
- The screenshot is the wrong size or looks too dense. Keep viewport width and height separate from DPR. For the cited Fold7 context, DPR is 2.625; changing DPR does not replace setting the CSS viewport.
- The screenshot cuts off content below the visible area. Use Capture a full size screenshot rather than Capture screenshot, which captures only the visible viewport.
- The page differs from the phone despite matching dimensions. Device Mode only approximates mobile behavior. Compare on the actual device when browser or hardware behavior matters.
- The measured height differs from your result. Browser controls and other browser-state factors can change available page height. Test the expanded-controls and larger-height conditions separately instead of treating one height as universal.
