To capture a mobile webpage with its on-screen keyboard visible, focus the page’s text field, leave the keyboard open, and take a normal screenshot of the phone screen. On an iPhone with Face ID, quickly press and release the Side and Volume Up buttons together; on an iPhone with a Home button, quickly press and release the Side and Home buttons together. Android screenshot controls vary by phone, so use the method documented for your device.
Capture the visible screen with the keyboard open
- Open the webpage in your phone’s browser.
- Tap the text field or other editable area you want to show. Wait for the on-screen keyboard to appear and for the page to settle.
- Keep the keyboard open and take an ordinary screenshot using your phone’s screenshot controls.
- Check the image. It should show the webpage and keyboard in the intended state. If the keyboard closed or the page shifted before capture, repeat the steps.
iPhone
Apple documents these button combinations for a normal screenshot: on iPhone models with Face ID, quickly press and release the Side button and Volume Up button together; on models with a Home button, quickly press and release the Side button and Home button together. Android
Open the page, focus the field, and use the screenshot control for your particular phone while leaving the keyboard visible. There is no universal button combination established here for Android devices; consult the instructions from your phone’s manufacturer for its model.

A normal screenshot records the visible screen state, which is what you need when the keyboard itself must appear in the image. Safari’s Full Page option is for webpage content extending beyond the iPhone screen and can save that content as an image or PDF. Apple’s instructions do not establish that the open software keyboard is included in a Full Page webpage capture, so use the ordinary screenshot method for this task. Why the page may move when the keyboard opens
Browsers can handle the on-screen keyboard in different ways: they may resize the visual viewport, resize both the visual and layout viewports, or place the keyboard over the page without resizing either. Which behavior occurs depends on the browser and operating-system combination, so the webpage can shift or resize as you focus a field. Chrome for Developers describes these viewport resize behaviors.
For development previews, Safari Responsive Design Mode presets approximate devices rather than reproducing every exact device behavior. Apple notes that the address bar, on-screen keyboard, and device-specific form-field behavior can influence layout, and recommends Simulator for a more accurate preview. When the goal is a true user-facing image, capture directly on the target phone; when debugging, verify the page on the target device or use Apple’s inspection tools as appropriate. Troubleshooting
- The screenshot has no keyboard: Focus the text field again, wait for the keyboard to appear, and take a normal screen screenshot without switching to a full-page capture.
- The page shifted or the field is hidden: The browser may resize or overlay the keyboard. Reposition the page after the keyboard appears, then capture the visible state you need.
- The Android button combination does not work: Screenshot controls are device-specific. Check the instructions for your phone’s manufacturer and model rather than relying on a shortcut intended for another device.
- An emulated preview does not match the phone: Responsive Design Mode is an approximation. Verify the layout on the target device; use Simulator or device inspection for development work.
