How to Capture a Website at iPhone SE Screen Size

Learn how to capture a visible screen or full webpage on an iPhone SE, and preview the 4.7-inch SE layout in Safari on a Mac.

For a screenshot on an iPhone SE, open the site in Safari and press the Side and Home buttons together, then release. To capture a whole scrolling webpage, choose Full Page in the screenshot editor. To preview the 4.7-inch iPhone SE layout on a Mac, use Safari Responsive Design Mode at 375 × 667 points and 2× pixel ratio.

Those are different tasks: a phone screenshot records the page as it appears on the device, while Responsive Design Mode is a desktop preview. The first-generation SE is a smaller 4-inch model, so the dimensions below apply to the 4.7-inch second- and third-generation form factor.

Take a screenshot on the iPhone SE

  1. Open the website in Safari and wait for the content you need to appear.
  2. For a single-screen capture, scroll to the part of the page you want.
  3. Quickly press and release the Side button and Home button at the same time.
  4. Tap the screenshot preview to crop or annotate it, or dismiss the preview to save the screenshot. Screenshots are normally available in Photos.

This is Apple’s method for iPhones with a Home button. The capture shows the currently visible screen, not the entire page. The editor’s appearance can vary by iOS version. Apple’s screenshot instructions explain the controls.

Capture the entire webpage

To save a long Safari page instead of only the visible screen, take a screenshot using the steps above and tap its preview. Choose Full Page, review the page preview, and crop if needed. Save the result as an image or as a PDF in Files. Full Page is intended for a whole webpage; it is not the same as taking a sequence of separate screen captures. The exact editor controls may differ across iOS versions. Apple documents the Full Page option.

Preview the 4.7-inch SE layout on a Mac

  1. Open the page in Safari on your Mac. If the Develop menu is hidden, enable Safari’s developer features in settings.
  2. From the menu, choose Develop > Enter Responsive Design Mode.
  3. Select or set a portrait viewport of 375 × 667 points at 2× pixel ratio.
  4. Check the page at that size, including menus, text wrapping, forms, and other interactions relevant to your site. Switch to landscape dimensions as needed.

Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines list the 4.7-inch iPhone SE layout as 375 × 667 points, or 750 × 1334 pixels at 2×. The third-generation SE’s product specification gives a physical resolution of 1334 × 750 pixels at 326 ppi. In portrait, the latter is 750 × 1334. Physical pixels are not the same as the CSS layout viewport; neither figure tells you exactly how much webpage content is visible after Safari’s controls and system UI.

Responsive Design Mode is useful for a quick width, height, and media-query check, but it does not reproduce every device condition. Apple cautions: “Viewport size presets offer a good approximation, but they don’t represent exact layout, rendering, and behavior as experienced on an actual device.” Browser chrome, the keyboard, form fields, and the page itself can change what you see. For a closer iOS check, open the page in Simulator from Responsive Design Mode or test on an iPhone. See Apple’s Responsive Design Mode documentation and iOS and iPadOS inspection guide.

When to use Simulator or a real iPhone

Use Responsive Design Mode to catch obvious layout problems quickly. If a result depends on iOS rendering, browser behavior, the software keyboard, or a device-specific interaction, validate it in Simulator or on the iPhone itself rather than treating a viewport preset as conclusive.

ScreenshotNeo can capture a URL through one API request. This is useful when you want a repeatable screenshot without manually setting up a browser preview. The request below uses the iPhone SE’s 375 × 667 viewport; for the Retina-sized output, set the API’s device scale factor to 2. The API returns an image or PDF, not a simulation of every iOS-specific browser behavior.

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for viewport and output options.
