Use ScreenshotOne’s wait_until for browser navigation events, but wait for the page’s actual content when JavaScript renders it after navigation. For a known element, wait_for_selector is usually the more direct signal; use a fixed delay only when no dependable event or selector identifies readiness.
Choose a wait that matches what “ready” means
A browser’s load event means navigation resources have reached a lifecycle milestone; it does not prove that a JavaScript application has finished fetching and displaying a report, table, or chart. ScreenshotOne’s wait_until option waits for navigation events before taking a screenshot or rendering HTML or PDF. Its documented default is load. ScreenshotOne’s options documentation lists domcontentloaded, networkidle0, and networkidle2 as alternatives. The network-idle variants are based on the number of open network connections remaining for 500 ms.

Start with a navigation event, then target the content
Try the documented default, load, explicitly first. If the screenshot misses content that appears later, wait for a selector that only exists when that content has been inserted into the DOM. The option is named wait_for_selector; the following cURL request shows the pattern. Replace the URL and selector with the page and content target you control.

Choose a selector that corresponds to the actual content you need rather than a generic page shell. A site-specific ready marker can be useful if you control the page, but do not assume that a marker from another tool or crawler is a ScreenshotOne API parameter.
Selector-list behavior and element capture
For comma-separated selectors, ScreenshotOne’s default at_least_one mode allows the wait to stop when one selector matches. The documented at_least_by_count alternative counts matched elements; it does not ensure every selector in the list matches. If you use selector to capture one element, waiting for that same selector is ineffective because the capture target itself is not a useful separate readiness condition. Use a fixed delay only when needed
When navigation events and selectors cannot reliably identify readiness, add delay. ScreenshotOne documents its default as zero. A delay consumes time from the request’s timeout budget, and a fixed number cannot adapt to page speed. The full-page guide suggests testing 5–10 seconds for difficult pages; treat that as a starting point to tune for your page, not a universal requirement. For example, add --data-urlencode 'delay=3000' to the request to test a 3-second pause. Prefer a content selector when it provides a reliable signal, since a long blanket delay can make every capture slower without making a changing page deterministic.
Account for scripts, full-page loading, and motion
Injected scripts that navigate or reload
If your request injects JavaScript that navigates or reloads the page, configure scripts_wait_until for the needed navigation event or supply a sufficient delay. ScreenshotOne documents the default as an empty list, meaning no wait. The setting is described in Customize websites before screenshotting and the options reference.

Full-page screenshots and lazy-loaded content
Some pages load images or other content only when the browser scrolls near them. ScreenshotOne’s performance guide notes that scrolling during a full-page capture can trigger this lazy loading, so waiting for every resource before scrolling may not be necessary. For difficult pages, tune the delay and scrolling behavior rather than assuming the initial viewport contains everything. See Rendering performance and Full-page screenshots.
Animations and changing content
Motion reduction can make captures more stable, but it is best effort: custom JavaScript animations, canvas rendering, and animated images may still change. A wait setting cannot guarantee pixel-identical screenshots of a dynamic page. ScreenshotOne describes these limits in its options documentation and full-page guide.
Timeouts, credentials, and asynchronous work
ScreenshotOne documents a default timeout of 60 seconds and a maximum of 90 seconds. If a request times out, first remove an unnecessarily long delay and check whether the readiness selector can appear. Then adjust timeout or navigation_timeout within the documented limits. For workflows that do not need the image in the immediate response, asynchronous rendering with webhooks can let work continue and deliver the result later. See Async and Webhooks.
ScreenshotOne accepts GET options or a POST JSON request; its getting-started documentation states a maximum POST body size of 100 MiB. If you use the JavaScript or TypeScript SDK, note its documentation warning that the default generated URL is unsigned and could expose the access key. - Confirm the selector spelling against the rendered page and make sure it is present on the requested URL.
- Check whether the page rendered successfully and whether the element is inserted only after an application request completes.
- Verify that the target is visible and has height if your next step depends on capturing or interacting with it.
- Avoid waiting on the same selector that you use as the element-capture target; choose a separate readiness signal.
- If the selector appears only after scrolling, use an appropriate full-page capture approach and account for lazy loading.

No. It waits for an element to appear in the DOM; visibility is a separate condition.
