To save a whole Safari webpage as a page-length document, press Command-P, then choose PDF or Save as PDF in the print dialog. That creates a PDF, not one tall screenshot image. For an archive that keeps webpage resources, use Safari’s Web Archive option; for a single full-page image, Apple’s Mac screenshot instructions do not document a built-in Safari capture control that scrolls the page from top to bottom.
Choose the right format for the job

Save the whole webpage as a PDF
- Open the webpage in Safari and allow the content you need to appear.
- Press Command-P, or choose File > Print.
- Review the print preview. If content is missing or laid out differently from the page, the PDF may not be a faithful visual copy.
- Choose the PDF button or PDF menu in the print dialog, then choose Save as PDF.
- Give the file a name, choose where to save it, and save.

Save a Web Archive or page source
Keep webpage resources
- In Safari, choose File > Save As.
- Choose Web Archive from the Format menu.
- Name the file and save it.
Apple describes Web Archive as saving webpage graphics and links. A saved link still depends on its destination webpage being available. Some websites may prevent saving items displayed on the page. Apple’s Safari instructions explain the available save formats.
Save HTML source for development
Choose File > Save As, then select Page Source if that format is offered. This stores HTML source, not the rendered page as an image and not a complete visual archive.

Capture only what is currently visible
- Shift-Command-3: capture the screen.
- Shift-Command-4: select an area to capture.
- Shift-Command-5: open macOS Screenshot controls.
These are screen-capture options, not commands that scroll Safari through a long page. Apple’s Mac screenshot guide describes screen, window, and selected-area capture rather than a full-page Safari screenshot: Take a screenshot on your Mac.
When a single full-page image is essential
If the required output is one tall PNG, JPEG, or WebP rather than a PDF or Web Archive, the built-in Mac steps above do not document a Safari full-page screenshot button. Use a capture tool or workflow that explicitly supports full-page webpage capture, and verify that the output includes the content you need.

Check the result and handle common problems
- The PDF is missing content or looks different: inspect the print preview and saved PDF. Safari’s print output is not promised to reproduce every onscreen detail or dynamic element exactly.
- A Web Archive is incomplete: a website may prevent saving some displayed items. Apple does not establish a universal fix for restricted or dynamically loaded content.
- A link in the archive no longer works: its destination page may no longer be available; the archive does not guarantee that linked sites remain accessible.
- You got HTML instead of a visual capture: Page Source contains source code. Choose PDF or Web Archive depending on whether you need a document or webpage resources.
- Your screenshot shows only part of the page: Shift-Command-3, Shift-Command-4, and Shift-Command-5 capture the screen, window, or selected area; they do not automatically scroll a webpage from top to bottom.
