You can capture a publicly viewable web page without logging into a screenshot service: use Firefox’s built-in screenshot control for a one-off image, or automate the capture with Playwright if you need a repeatable file and more output control. Choose a viewport image to show the page as it appears on screen, or a full-page image to include below-the-fold content. Before putting someone else’s page in a proposal, check its terms or ask permission; public visibility alone does not establish permission to reproduce it.
Choose the capture method that fits the proposal

Neither approach requires you to sign into a screenshot service. For a capture intended to show what a visitor sees without an account, use a fresh browser context and do not carry over an authenticated session. This is a workflow precaution, not a guarantee that a site will make every page available to anonymous visitors.

Capture a page manually in Firefox
- Open the page in Firefox without entering account credentials. Confirm that it is the intended public page and that it has finished loading.
- Use Firefox’s screenshot control. Choose the full-page capture option if the proposal needs content below the visible screen; otherwise capture the viewport.
- Save the image from the screenshot interface. Mozilla’s documentation says the screenshot is saved to the browser’s Downloads directory. See Mozilla’s screenshot instructions.
- Open the saved file and inspect the whole image for missing content, overlays, or material outside the useful proposal context.
- If you crop the image, keep the crop consistent with the point the proposal is making. Label the page or source and capture date when a reader might otherwise mistake what the image represents.
Automate a repeatable capture with Playwright
Playwright’s documented flow is to open a browser, create a context and page, navigate to the target URL, and call the page screenshot method. Its full-page option captures the entire scrollable page rather than only the visible viewport. Playwright Page API

Change the capture scope or output
- Viewport: omit
fullPage: trueto capture the currently visible browser viewport, useful when the proposal is discussing the first impression at a particular screen size. - Full page: set
fullPage: trueto include scrollable content below the fold. Playwright describes this as capturing the page “as if you had a very tall screen.” Playwright screenshot guide - Selected region or element: use a clip area or capture a target element when the proposal needs one component rather than the full page. These are alternatives to a full-page capture; choose based on the context the client needs.

Viewport or full page: which should you send?
A viewport screenshot records what fits in the visible browser page at the time of capture. A full-page screenshot includes the page’s scrollable content beyond that area. Use a viewport capture when the proposal is about a screen-sized presentation or first impression; choose full page when the below-the-fold sections are part of the evidence or discussion. A very tall image can make text difficult to read when placed in a proposal. If the client needs to examine details, consider a viewport capture or a focused element capture instead of shrinking an entire long page to fit one slide.

- Verify that it shows the right page and the intended public state.
- Check that text remains legible at the size the client will view it.
- Look for cookie banners, popups, chat widgets, or incomplete sections that obscure the content.
- Make sure unrelated personal information, account details, or browser UI are not included unnecessarily.
- Keep the source and capture date with the proposal when needed to make the image’s context clear.
A screenshot is a record of one captured page state, not proof that the page will look or behave the same later. Inspect the saved artifact rather than assuming the capture is complete.

Troubleshooting common capture problems
The page asks for a login
A screenshot tool cannot turn a private or account-gated page into a public one. Confirm that the proposal only needs content available without signing in, or ask the page owner for access or an approved asset. Do not reuse an authenticated browser session if the goal is to show what an unauthenticated visitor can see.
The screenshot is blank or incomplete
Check that navigation completed and the page has rendered before capture. In a Playwright script, try an appropriate navigation wait condition or wait for a specific page element; a network-idle wait can be unsuitable for pages that maintain ongoing network activity. Then inspect the saved image. A site may also restrict access or fail to load for reasons a screenshot method cannot fix.

Content below the fold is missing
Use Firefox’s full-page option or Playwright’s fullPage: true. If the page loads images or sections only as they approach the viewport, inspect the result; a full-page setting does not establish that every site’s lazy-loaded content has appeared.
The image includes an overlay
Dismiss the banner or popup using the site’s normal visitor controls where appropriate, then capture again. If the overlay is part of the page state the proposal is meant to discuss, leave it visible rather than removing relevant context.
The capture is difficult to read in the proposal
Use a viewport or element capture, or present multiple focused captures rather than forcing a long page into a small space. Review the exported image at its intended display size.
Permission and context matter
A page loading without credentials establishes only that it can be viewed in that context; it does not establish permission to reproduce the page in a client proposal. Check the page owner’s terms or obtain permission where needed. This is a cautious workflow recommendation, not a legal conclusion about any particular page or use.
