ApiFlash captures the first matching element. For a GET request, URL-encode the selector; if the element appears only after lazy loading, add wait_for with a selector for that element. Do not combine this with full_page=true, because full-page mode ignores element.
Make an element screenshot request
ApiFlash’s documented endpoint is https://api.apiflash.com/v1/urltoimage. Supply your access key, the page URL, and a CSS selector in element. For example, #main-content selects the element whose ID is main-content:

Encode selector characters as part of the query parameter; otherwise characters such as # can be interpreted as URL syntax instead of selector text. Replace the access-key placeholder with your ApiFlash key and the example URL with the page you want to capture.
ApiFlash accepts GET query parameters or POST form data. It returns image bytes by default; set response_type=json if you need a JSON response instead. See the ApiFlash documentation for current parameter behavior and limits.

Choose and verify the selector
Capture the first match
The element value is a CSS selector, and ApiFlash captures the first DOM element matching it. Prefer a selector specific enough to identify the intended content. If a selector matches several cards, for example, the result is the first match rather than a screenshot of every match.
Wait for content inserted later
When scripts or lazy loading add the target after the page begins loading, use wait_for with a selector that identifies the element. ApiFlash documents a 15-second failure timeout when nothing matches the wait_for selector. Check that the wait selector describes an element that actually appears on the page and is not merely a styling selector typo.

ApiFlash says it waits for network idle by default, but that does not ensure every dynamically rendered target is present. Prefer a selector or page-state wait such as wait_for or wait_until when appropriate rather than starting with an arbitrary fixed delay. Consult its documentation for the available wait conditions.

Pick the right capture mode
- One DOM element: Use
elementwith a CSS selector. It captures the first match. - A rectangular region: Use
cropwith left, top, width, and height values when the target is defined by coordinates rather than a DOM element. - The whole page: Use
full_page=true. In this mode, ApiFlash ignoreselement. - Overlapping content: Consider
element_overlapif the capture should include elements overlapping the selected element.

Troubleshoot missing or incorrect captures
- The screenshot shows the wrong content: The selector may match more than one element. Narrow it so the intended target is the first match.
- No element appears or the wait fails: Verify the selector against the rendered page and use it in
wait_forwhen content is inserted late. ApiFlash documents failure after 15 seconds if the wait selector does not match. - The entire page is captured instead: Check whether
full_page=trueis enabled. It takes precedence in practice because element capture is ignored in full-page mode. - The request behaves as if the selector is missing: URL-encode the selector in a GET request, especially characters such as
#. - The page is blocked: Sites using Cloudflare or similar bot protection may prevent capture. ApiFlash says a proxy may help depending on the protection, but it is not a guaranteed bypass.
