To capture a dynamically loaded table with Selenium, scroll the page or the table’s own scrollable container, wait for a specific sign that the rows you need have loaded, then take a screenshot. A normal WebDriver screenshot shows the current browser window—not every position you scrolled through. Load the intended rows before capture, and choose a window, element, or supported full-document screenshot based on the image you need.
Why rows can be missing after the page loads
A completed navigation does not guarantee that a JavaScript-driven table has finished adding rows. Selenium notes that page readiness covers assets defined by the HTML, while JavaScript can change the page afterward. Wait for the application state you need rather than treating page load as proof that the table is complete. See Selenium’s waiting strategies.

Scrolling and loading are separate actions. Scrolling may trigger a request, but the next rows can arrive later—or not at all if you scrolled the wrong container. A standard screenshot also captures only the current window; it does not stitch together the positions visited while scrolling.

Load the intended rows before capture
- Identify the scroll container. Determine whether the document scrolls or whether the table sits inside a fixed-height, independently scrollable panel. Scroll the panel when it owns the scrollbar.
- Choose a progress signal. Record the current row count, last row’s identifying text, or another stable marker. Decide what will prove that more data arrived—for example, a larger row count, a target row becoming present, or a loading indicator disappearing.
- Scroll in increments. Move the correct container by a measured amount or bring its last loaded row into view. With infinite scrolling, repeat this process; one large scroll is not a reliable substitute.
- Wait for the signal. Use an explicit wait for the chosen condition. Selenium’s documentation says, “Do not mix implicit and explicit waits.” Implicit waits affect element-location calls globally, while explicit waits poll for a particular condition; combining them can make timing unpredictable.
- Re-query rows after updates. If the application redraws the table, locate its rows again after each update instead of relying on old element references. Keep scrolling and waiting until the desired final row appears or the application signals that no more data is available.
- Settle the view, then capture. Put the intended content in view and wait for it to render. Select a screenshot method based on the desired scope below.
There is no universal infinite-scroll condition: the loop and stopping rule depend on the site. A fixed sleep alone is a weak synchronization strategy because it does not establish that the required rows arrived.

Choose the screenshot scope
| What you need | Selenium approach | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| What is currently visible | Standard WebDriver screenshot | Captures the current window, not content outside it. The Python API documents get_screenshot_as_file for saving a PNG of the current window. Python WebDriver API |
| The rendered table element | Element screenshot | Check that the element contains the intended rows and is not clipped or virtualized. Selenium demonstrates element screenshots in its window and tab interaction documentation. |
| The whole document in Firefox with Python | Firefox full-document screenshot method | The Firefox Python API documents save_full_page_screenshot and related full-page methods. This is a Firefox Python API; verify support for your Selenium version, browser, and binding. Firefox WebDriver API |
A full-document screenshot does not fetch rows that have not loaded. Lazy-loaded or virtualized tables may need scrolling to make data appear before capture; a long document image cannot be assumed to include rows the application has not rendered.
Python example: scroll, wait for a new row, and save
This example targets a table in a scrollable panel. Replace the selectors and row-identifying condition with those used by your page. It waits for the row count to increase after each scroll, then saves a screenshot of the current window. It does not claim to be a universal infinite-scroll solution: adapt the stopping condition to the table’s behavior.

from selenium.common.exceptions import TimeoutException
URL = "https://example.com/table"
PANEL = "#table-panel" # The actual scrolling container
ROWS = "#results tbody tr" # Rows currently rendered by the table
MAX_STEPS = 50 # Safety limit; adjust for the page
options = webdriver.ChromeOptions()
driver = webdriver.Chrome(options=options)
wait = WebDriverWait(driver, 10)
try:
driver.get(URL)
wait.until(lambda d: len(d.find_elements(By.CSS_SELECTOR, ROWS)) > 0)
for _ in range(MAX_STEPS):
panel = wait.until(lambda d: d.find_element(By.CSS_SELECTOR, PANEL))

# a slow request or a different progress signal may need handling.
break
# Capture the current browser window after the desired rows are loaded.
driver.save_screenshot("table-window.png")
finally:
driver.quit()
The example deliberately re-finds the panel and rows as it loops. If the application replaces the table during rendering, this avoids continuing with stale row references. If your page uses a document scrollbar, scroll the document instead; if it exposes a known final row or loading indicator, wait for that condition rather than relying only on a row-count increase.
Firefox Python: capture the full document
When the whole document is the desired output and the target stack is Firefox with Selenium’s Python binding, the documented Firefox API provides a full-page method. First ensure the rows have loaded, then save the image:

Check the image and diagnose common failures
- Rows are absent although navigation completed: wait for the table’s application state, such as a row-count change or target row, not just document readiness.
- Scrolling does not load more data: check whether the table panel, rather than the document, is the scroll container. Also check whether the page requires repeated increments.
- The wait times out: the table may be finished, the loading request may be slow or failed, or the condition may not match how the site updates. Verify the signal in the page and adjust the timeout or wait condition; do not treat timeout alone as proof that all rows loaded.
- Rows become stale or disappear from the result: a redraw may have replaced the elements. Re-locate the rows after each update and use a stable condition.
- The image shows only part of the table: a normal WebDriver screenshot covers the current window. Scroll the desired portion into view, capture an element where appropriate, or use a supported full-document method.
- Text is too small, clipped, or obscured: inspect the saved image for scaling, sticky headers, overlays, and panel boundaries. Adjust the viewport or capture scope to suit the output.

ScreenshotNeo can return a website screenshot with one GET request. It accepts cookie or consent banners before capture and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each of those steps can be turned off. Bot checks, CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and the response identifies the page verdict and billing status in headers. Its MCP server provides screenshot tools for AI agents, and 1,000 screenshots a month are free with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.
For a public page, the basic cURL request is:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://example.com/table -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for API parameters, including options relevant to rendering and capture. Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Selenium screenshot include everything I scrolled past?
No. A standard WebDriver screenshot captures the current window; it does not stitch together earlier scroll positions.
Will a full-page screenshot load every row in an infinite table?
No. Load the intended rows first. A capture method does not by itself cause rows that have not been fetched or rendered to appear.
