Save a full-page screenshot as a PNG
- Open the page in Firefox. Right-click an empty area and choose Take Screenshot. Alternatively, use Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+S on macOS.
- Select Save full page in the screenshot controls. This captures content beyond the visible viewport. Save visible captures only what is currently on screen; the controls also let you select a region or an automatically highlighted page element.
- Choose Download to save a PNG in Firefox’s default download folder. Mozilla says the filename includes the capture date and time and the page title. Choose Copy instead to put the image on the clipboard for pasting into another application.
- Open the saved PNG and inspect the top, bottom, text, and images you need. Confirm that the material is legible and present before adding it to your report; a capture can require review rather than being assumed complete.
If you want a toolbar control, Mozilla says you can add a Screenshot button using Menu > More Tools > Customize Toolbar. Mozilla’s Firefox screenshot instructions cover the screenshot controls and save options.

Choose the right format for the report

The PNG-versus-PDF fit is practical guidance based on the documented output types, not a Mozilla recommendation. Mozilla’s printing instructions describe PDF output and print settings.

Save a report-friendly PDF from print preview
- Open Firefox’s Print… command to display print preview.
- Set the destination to Save to PDF.
- Review the available settings: page range, orientation, color mode, paper size, scale, pages per sheet, margins, format, headers and footers, and backgrounds. Simplified format may be available; it disables printing backgrounds.
- Inspect the preview for missing or rearranged elements, then save the PDF and check the resulting file.
Webpages can be designed to appear differently on paper than they do on screen, so do not assume a PDF is a pixel-for-pixel record of the browser view.

When you need an offline webpage copy
Use Firefox’s Save Page As when you need page files for offline reference, not a single long image or print-layout document. Mozilla documents these choices:
- Web page, complete: saves the page with pictures and creates a directory for supporting files; it may not preserve the original HTML link structure.
- Web page, HTML only: keeps the original HTML link structure but omits pictures.
- Text files: saves a text version without the original HTML link structure.
- All files: another available save format.

Firefox for iOS: save a full-page capture as PDF
The iOS workflow is separate from desktop Firefox’s Take Screenshot controls. Use the device’s screenshot buttons, open the screenshot preview, choose Full Page, tap Done, then choose Save as PDF. Follow Mozilla’s Firefox for iOS PDF instructions for that route.

Troubleshooting and quality checks
- Take Screenshot does not appear: confirm you are using Firefox desktop and try the keyboard shortcut for your operating system. You can also add the Screenshot button from Menu > More Tools > Customize Toolbar.
- The image stops at the viewport: choose Save full page, not Save visible.
- The PDF differs from the browser page: check the print preview, orientation, scale, margins, and format. Web content can be set up to print differently than it appears on screen.
- The saved capture is incomplete or hard to read: open the output and inspect the sections, text, and images your report relies on. The Mozilla instructions describe the controls but do not guarantee every site element will render in every capture.
- You need to preserve files for offline reference: use Web page, complete rather than treating a screenshot as a copy of the page files. Remember that this option creates supporting files and may not preserve the original HTML link structure.
