You can automate screenshots of property-listing URLs with a browser script: open each URL, wait for the page content you need, and save a viewport, listing element, or full-page image. Before doing so, check the specific portal’s current terms and get permission where required. Check portal permission before automating
A script can capture what a browser renders, but technical access is not permission to automate, extract, reuse, or redistribute a listing or its images. The way a screenshot is captured and used may matter; this is not a legal conclusion that every screenshot is equivalent to data extraction.

Choose what each screenshot should contain
Playwright supports three useful capture scopes: the visible viewport, one selected element, or the full scrollable page. Choose before writing the loop: a viewport image is compact but can omit listing details below the fold, while a full-page capture is longer and may include unrelated page content.
- Viewport: Capture what is visible in the browser window.
- Listing element: Capture a particular element, such as the listing content, using a CSS selector.
- Full page: Capture the page’s scrollable content in one image.
Pick an image format, filename convention, and pixel scale that match the job. Playwright documents PNG, JPEG, and WebP output, filenames, and CSS-pixel or device-pixel scale. For repeatable comparisons, keep these settings fixed alongside the viewport size.
Automate a URL list with Playwright
The example below uses Node.js and Playwright. It reads one URL per line from urls.txt, opens each page, waits for the document to load, and writes one full-page PNG per URL. This is a starting point, not a portal-specific recipe: the right readiness check depends on when the content you need actually appears.

Install and prepare the URL list
- Install Node.js, then create a project and install Playwright:

}Run it with node capture.mjs. The numeric filenames preserve the order of the input file; if you need to trace a screenshot back to its source URL, keep a separate manifest or generate sanitized filenames and record the mapping. Avoid putting sensitive URL parameters into filenames.
Wait for the content you intend to capture
domcontentloaded means the initial HTML has been parsed; it does not guarantee that a listing’s images, client-rendered details, or lazy-loaded sections are ready. The example’s one-second delay is illustrative, not a universal wait duration. For a known listing selector, wait for that element instead:

If you need content farther down the page, verify that it has loaded before taking a full-page screenshot. A page can finish navigating while its meaningful content is still absent.

Use a locator’s screenshot method when only a specific listing region is needed. The locator must resolve to the intended element:

Set the file type explicitly when needed. JPEG supports a quality setting; Playwright’s screenshot API also supports WebP. Use a device-pixel scale when you want output pixels to account for the device scale factor, or CSS scale for dimensions tied to CSS pixels.

Matching the script alone does not guarantee identical screenshots across machines. Playwright notes that visual output can vary with host operating system, browser version, settings, hardware, power supply, headless mode, and other factors. For comparisons, keep the browser version, operating environment, viewport, device scale factor, and capture settings consistent. Dynamic banners, popups, or other changing page content can also alter what appears in the image.

Process URLs with controlled concurrency. A single page reused sequentially, as in the script, is simple to reason about and avoids opening an uncontrolled number of browser pages. For larger lists, add bounded parallelism only after accounting for your machine’s capacity and each portal’s terms. Record failures and retry selectively rather than rerunning every URL blindly.
Common failures and fixes
- Navigation timeout: The page did not reach the selected load milestone in time. Check whether the URL is valid and reachable, choose a suitable navigation milestone, and wait separately for the specific content you need. Do not treat a timeout as permission to bypass a restriction.
- Screenshot is blank or missing listing details: Navigation may have completed before client-rendered content appeared, or the selector may be wrong. Wait for a verified visible element and inspect the page state when authorized.
- Images or lower-page content are absent: Some content loads only after scrolling or other interaction. Verify that it has loaded before capture; full-page mode does not itself prove every lazy image was fetched.
- Unexpected HTTP response: The script logs non-success main-document responses and skips those captures. Check the URL and response status; do not try to evade access controls or bot protections.
- Images differ between runs: Fix the runtime and capture parameters, and account for dynamic overlays or page content. Unrelated environments should not be expected to produce pixel-identical results.
- Element capture fails: Confirm that the selector matches an element on that page and that it is visible before calling the locator screenshot method.
