Use Chrome DevTools’ Capture a full size screenshot command: open DevTools, turn on the Device Toolbar, then choose the command from the toolbar’s More options menu. It captures the whole page, including content outside the visible viewport.
Capture the entire page in Chrome
- Open the page you want to capture in Chrome.
- Open DevTools. On macOS, press Command+Option+I, or use Chrome’s menu: View > Developer > Developer Tools.
- Show the Device Toolbar using the Toggle device toolbar control in DevTools if it is not already visible.
- In the Device Toolbar, open More options and select Capture a full size screenshot.
Chrome captures the page from top to bottom, including content not currently visible in the viewport. The official procedure is documented in Chrome DevTools device mode documentation.

Choose the right kind of capture
| What you need | DevTools command | Where to find it |
|---|---|---|
| The whole page, including below-the-fold content | Capture a full size screenshot | Device Toolbar > More options |
| One selected element, including parts below the viewport | Capture node screenshot | Select the element in the Elements panel, then invoke the command |
| Only what is visible now | Capture screenshot | DevTools screenshot command; this is not the full-page command |
Chrome’s release notes describe Capture node screenshot as capturing the selected node beyond the viewport when needed. See Chrome 89 DevTools release notes. For the whole page rather than a single node, use the Device Toolbar command.

Can the Command Menu do it?
On macOS, Command+Shift+P opens DevTools’ Command Menu. It can surface DevTools actions, but Chrome’s documented full-page workflow is the Device Toolbar’s More options > Capture a full size screenshot command. The shortcut and menu are described in Chrome’s Command Menu documentation; use the Device Toolbar route when you specifically need a full-page capture.

Save location and version differences
The cited Chrome documentation explains how to initiate the capture but does not establish a universal save location or guarantee identical behavior in every Chrome build. Check the download or save prompt on your installed version rather than assuming a particular folder or file-handling behavior.
Troubleshooting
- You only got the visible part of the page: Make sure you selected Capture a full size screenshot, not the viewport-only Capture screenshot.
- You cannot find the command: Confirm the Device Toolbar is open, then open its More options menu. If necessary, enable the toolbar with its Toggle device toolbar control in DevTools.
- You want just one section or component: Select its DOM node in the Elements panel and use Capture node screenshot; that is a different operation from capturing the complete page.
- The result or save behavior differs from these steps: Chrome’s documentation does not promise identical behavior across all builds. Check the labels and prompts in your installed version.
Or skip the browser setup
If you need repeatable captures in a script or AI workflow, ScreenshotNeo offers a screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request returns a screenshot or PDF; for a full-page screenshot, use the full_page option. Its cleanup steps accept cookie and consent banners before capture and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, with the response identifying the page verdict and billing status in headers. The MCP server includes take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. See ScreenshotNeo and its API documentation.
For example, this cURL request saves a WebP capture of Stripe’s page:
