Yes—but only if the service or encoder sending your stream is updated to use the replacement key and reconnects. A YouTube stream key reset replaces the credential; it does not, by itself, tell every cloud service or encoder to adopt the new key or restart its job. For a third-party service, the exact recovery behavior depends on that provider.
What a YouTube stream key reset changes
YouTube describes stream keys as information that tells an encoder where to send its feed and lets YouTube accept it. When a key is reset, the old credential is replaced. YouTube’s instructions say to copy the new key and update the encoder software. Only a channel owner or manager can reset the key. YouTube Help: Manage live stream settings

The encoder setup also uses YouTube’s Live server URL. Updating the key is necessary, but it does not alone confirm that the encoder is connected or that the viewer-facing broadcast is live again. YouTube Help: Set up your encoder for live streaming

- Check the stream in YouTube Studio. Open Live Control Room and inspect the affected stream’s health or status message so you know whether YouTube is receiving a feed.
- Copy the replacement key. If the key was reset, retrieve the new one from YouTube. A channel owner or manager must perform the reset.
- Update the feed source. Replace the saved key where the outgoing feed actually originates: a local encoder, cloud relay, saved service configuration, or backup encoder. If the provider uses YouTube sign-in or API authorization instead of a manually entered key, use that provider’s authorization recovery process.
- Reconnect or restart the job if needed. Follow the encoder or provider’s instructions. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance says to retrieve the key from Live Control Room, paste it into the encoder, and start the encoder when it will not start. If software signs in to YouTube without using a stream key, YouTube advises contacting the software provider’s support team. YouTube Help: Troubleshoot your live stream
- Confirm the result in two places. Check YouTube’s stream health and open the public watch page to verify viewers can see the live stream. A dashboard that says a job is running does not prove YouTube is receiving it.

Why recovery depends on the service
YouTube documents the encoder-side key update; it does not promise that an unnamed cloud relay will detect a reset, refresh stored credentials without interruption, restart the job, or preserve the same broadcast session. Check the provider’s instructions or contact its support team before assuming a stream will recover automatically.

Some providers offer different connection methods. YouTube lists Gyre as a cloud-based tool for continuous streaming of prerecorded video. Gyre describes both manual key entry and a workflow using channel authorization to create broadcasts. Those differences can affect what credential needs attention, but neither source establishes what another provider will do after a reset. Questions to ask before choosing a 24/7 setup
- Does the service use a manually entered stream key, YouTube channel authorization, or both?
- How do you refresh credentials, and can that be done without stopping the job?
- Does the provider document automatic restart or backup behavior after a credential change?
- What should you do if a job is marked active but YouTube reports no incoming feed?
- How can you verify the stream is live on YouTube, and how can you reach provider support?
These are provider-specific operational details; YouTube’s encoder instructions do not answer them for every cloud service.

Prevent avoidable interruptions and verify failover
YouTube recommends leaving headroom in upload bandwidth because network disruption can break a stream. It also recommends testing the setup and checking that the player switches to a backup encoder during failover testing.
