Cancel Sky TV separately from any broadband switch. Sky’s UK guidance requires at least 31 days’ notice, and the cancellation date cannot be before your minimum term ends. If you are also moving broadband, the new provider normally arranges that switch—but it does not end your Sky TV subscription. Check your dates and exit costs, get Sky’s cancellation date in writing, and keep payments active until the final bill is settled.
Does switching broadband cancel Sky TV?
No. A broadband switch and a TV cancellation are separate actions. Sky says the new provider normally contacts Sky to arrange the broadband and landline switch, but this does not cancel Sky TV or Sky Mobile. Identify every service on your account and contact the relevant provider separately for anything you want to end. Sky’s switching guidance explains what the broadband process covers.

How much notice do you need to give Sky?
For Sky TV in the UK, Sky requires at least 31 days’ notice. The cancellation period cannot end before your minimum term finishes. Ask Sky to confirm the effective end date rather than assuming notice can bring forward the end of your contract. Sky’s cancellation guidance sets out the rule.

That 31-day period is Sky’s UK rule, not a universal notice period for every TV provider. For another service, check your own contract for the notice method, minimum-term end date, cancellation date, early termination charges and any equipment-return requirements.

Plan the change without overlapping unwanted charges
- Check your contract. Find the minimum-term end date and any early-exit charges for each service you may leave. Ofcom notes that pay-TV, phone and broadband contracts commonly run for 12, 18 or 24 months; your agreement determines your dates and charges. See Ofcom’s contract guidance.
- Choose the intended dates. Allow at least 31 days from giving Sky notice, and account for the minimum-term end date. Ask Sky to confirm your TV service’s cancellation date.
- Order replacement broadband if needed. Let the new provider handle the broadband migration. Do not treat that process as notice to cancel Sky TV or Sky Mobile.
- Cancel Sky TV directly. Confirm which subscriptions are ending, especially if your Sky account bundles TV, broadband, landline or mobile services. Keep the notice confirmation and service end date.
- Keep payments active until the final bill is resolved. Sky says billing continues up to the date the new broadband service starts and advises customers not to cancel Direct Debit or other ongoing payments before the final bill. Review the bill and settle any amount due.
- Check Vodafone’s current terms before ordering. Confirm the price, contract length, included subscriptions, switching arrangements and any exit-fee contribution in the offer terms that apply when you buy.
What to check before choosing Vodafone TV
Vodafone’s announcement dated 2 October 2026 describes Vodafone TV as including a 4K Android TV box, Freely and streamed live channels and apps. It says Freely does not need a dish or aerial. Check the current product terms for what equipment is supplied and what your home setup requires. Vodafone’s launch announcement is the source for these product details.
The same announcement advertised Vodafone TV from £10 per month and TV Essential with Netflix and HBO Max for £17 per month. These are dated launch prices, not a guarantee of current pricing or availability; verify the price, inclusions and commitment before signing up. Vodafone also said qualifying customers switching to Vodafone TV and broadband could receive up to £300 toward early leaving fees. Eligibility and claim conditions apply, so check the complete current offer terms rather than assuming the credit covers your charges.

Vodafone says its One Touch Switch process handles the broadband switchover. That is a broadband process only; it does not replace the separate step of cancelling Sky TV.

Compare the full change, not just the headline price
- Exit cost and timing: compare your minimum-term end date, notice period and any early termination charges with the intended switch date.
- Content: check the live channels, apps and on-demand services you actually use, including whether Netflix or HBO Max is included in the Vodafone plan you select.
- Equipment and setup: confirm what the Vodafone TV box includes and whether your home needs any additional equipment or installation.
- Ongoing cost and commitment: check the full recurring price after any introductory offer, the contract length, possible price changes and the cost of optional subscriptions.
- Services to cancel: distinguish broadband migration from TV and mobile cancellations, and get confirmation for each service you intend to end.
