Build for a squad role, not an alleged Chaos Siege “meta”: the official Patch 15 notes do not name a best class, publish Chaos Siege loadouts, or compare class performance. First check which classes and gear the mode actually lets you select, then choose perks and weapons that support the job you want to do. The guidance below uses the October 1, 2026 Patch 15 changes; it is practical advice, not a tested build ranking.
What Chaos Siege asks your build to do
Focus Entertainment’s October 1, 2026 Anniversary Update II announcement describes PvE fights across two new Siege sectors on Avarax against Tyranids, Cadians, and Loyalist Space Marines. The detailed Patch 15 notes describe the new Hive map: Heretic Astartes defend key locations and attempt rituals, supported by Cultists and a Helbrute while facing Hive Fleet forces and Loyalists. These descriptions give the encounter context, but do not establish which classes are selectable in Chaos Siege or prescribe a class build.

Use the class and equipment selection screens in-game as the authority for what you can bring. Once you know what is available, decide whether your squad needs you to focus on sustained ranged damage, close combat, personal armour resilience, or support for teammates. Treat these as build-planning roles, not official class rankings.

1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesChoose a build by role and trade-off
| Build direction | What to prioritize | Trade-off to check |
|---|---|---|
| Ranged pressure | Weapons and perks that fit the range at which you expect to fight; for Tactical, reassess the Patch 15 bolter changes. | Patch 15 made Melta Rifle and Heavy Melta Rifle damage fall off more aggressively and reduced their base ammunition capacity. |
| Close-combat focus | Choose melee equipment only if you intend to make close combat the centre of the build. | For Tactical, equipping a Power Sword, Power Axe, or One-Handed Thunder Hammer prevents equipping a primary weapon. |
| Armour resilience | For Tactical, consider Armour Reinforcement if its condition suits how you play. | It restores one armour segment on non-finisher Gun Strikes; it is a specific perk effect, not a general armour bonus. |
| Squad support | For Tactical, weigh the available Auspex and squad-melee perk options against your own damage or durability priorities. | Patch 15 offers choices affecting Auspex damage, charges, radius, and duration, as well as squad melee damage; select based on the effect you want rather than assuming one is universally best. |
Rebuild Tactical around Patch 15
Older Tactical loadouts need a fresh look because Patch 15 changed its perks. The starting perk now gives bolt weapons one additional penetration and Bolter weapons 20% more non-headshot damage. Kraken Penetrator Rounds moved into that starting perk. The former perk slot now offers Armour Reinforcement, which restores one armour segment on non-finisher Gun Strikes.

Other new Tactical perk choices affect Auspex damage, charges, radius, and duration; squad melee damage; or replacing the secondary weapon with a primary Bolt Rifle. Pick among them to solve a concrete problem in your squad or playstyle. For example, favour an Auspex-related effect if that utility is central to your plan, or consider Armour Reinforcement if you regularly make non-finisher Gun Strikes. These are reasoned ways to use the stated effects, not evidence that either choice performs best in Chaos Siege.
Account for Tactical’s melee-weapon cost
Patch 15 lets Tactical equip a Power Sword, Power Axe, or One-Handed Thunder Hammer, but equipping one means giving up a primary weapon. That is a role-defining exchange: choose it when you deliberately want a close-combat approach, not as a free addition to a ranged build. Focus’s update announcement also lists the One-Handed Thunder Hammer for Tactical, Assault, Bulwark, and Techmarine; check the in-game mode selection before planning around any particular class or weapon.

Recheck weapon assumptions before committing
Patch 15 raised base damage for several PvE primary weapons, but the listed balance changes alone do not show which weapon is best for Chaos Siege. The developer’s figures for two Meltas illustrate why damage should not be considered in isolation:
| Weapon | Patch 15 PvE base-damage change | Base ammunition capacity change | Other stated change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Melta Rifle | Increased by 65% | Reduced from 15 to 10 rounds | Damage falloff made more aggressive |
| Heavy Melta Rifle | Increased by 60% | Reduced from 20 to 16 rounds | Damage falloff made more aggressive |
These are Focus Entertainment’s Patch 15 balance figures, not independent performance measurements or recommendations for this mode. When selecting a weapon, consider its range and ammunition alongside its damage; do not assume that the larger damage increase makes a Melta the right choice for every encounter.

Use a short in-game build check
- Confirm mode availability: open Chaos Siege’s class and loadout selection and note which classes, weapons, and perks are actually selectable.
- Set your job: decide whether your build is meant to emphasize ranged pressure, close combat, armour utility, or squad support.
- Check the cost of the choice: for Tactical, verify whether a melee weapon removes the primary weapon you intended to use, and compare weapon range and ammunition as well as damage.
- Read perk conditions literally: for example, Armour Reinforcement applies to non-finisher Gun Strikes, not every Gun Strike or every source of armour loss.
- Revisit Siege-specific choices: do not treat Blessings or Atonements as settled recommendations. Focus said it would review Siege Blessings and Atonements in Patch 16, so choices based on them may need to change.
What is known—and what is not
As of the October 1, 2026 Patch 15 notes and Anniversary Update II announcement, official materials establish the mode’s setting, some encounter details, and relevant balance changes. They do not establish a best Chaos Siege class, provide class win rates, compare builds, or confirm a recommended class-specific loadout. Accordingly, use the available in-game options and your squad’s needs to make the final choice, and treat Patch 16 or later balance notes as a reason to review Siege-specific recommendations.
