1. Enter the search details
- Open the Cleartrip Flights section on the website or in the app.
- Select One way or Round trip.
- Enter the origin and destination, select the departure and return dates when applicable, add all passengers, and choose a cabin.
- Submit the search and wait for the available itineraries to load.
Search nearby dates if your schedule allows. Cleartrip’s booking guidance suggests using roughly three to six weeks ahead for domestic travel and six to ten weeks ahead for international travel as a planning heuristic. It is not a guaranteed low-price window: compare the live prices for your exact route, dates and passenger count.

2. Filter for a workable itinerary
Do not select the first low number. Use filters for stops, departure time, duration or airline only after you understand what each filter removes. A nonstop flight can cost more but save a connection, while a very early departure may require an expensive overnight stay or ground transfer.
For a round trip, inspect the outbound and return legs separately. A low outbound fare paired with an expensive return can make the total higher than a different combination. Confirm that the airports are the same on both legs when a city has multiple airports.

4. Check special fares before paying
Cleartrip lists possible student, senior-citizen, armed-forces and business fares. The available discount, route, inventory and documents vary, so select a category only when the traveller qualifies and can show the required identification.
- Student fares: may include an additional baggage allowance or discount, subject to the airline’s eligibility and document requirements.
- Senior-citizen fares: Cleartrip describes savings of up to ₹600 in applicable cases.
- Armed-forces fares: Cleartrip describes savings of up to ₹600 in applicable cases, with eligibility and identification conditions.
- Business fares: may show additional savings and selected inclusions on eligible flights.
“Up to” is a maximum, not a promised reduction on every route. Open the fare details and confirm the final price and document requirement before continuing. If a traveller cannot prove eligibility at check-in, the airline may require a fare difference or refuse the special condition.
5. Open the fare rules and baggage details
Use the fare-rule link or details panel for the exact itinerary. Look for:

- Whether a checked bag is included, and the weight or piece limit.
- Cabin-bag dimensions and weight, where displayed.
- Seat-selection, meal and other service charges.
- Whether changes are permitted, the deadline for requesting one and the penalty or fare difference.
- Whether cancellation is permitted, the refund method and the deductions that apply.
- Any no-show rule, which can be stricter than a cancellation made before departure.
Save or screenshot these rules if your trip is important. Rules can differ between legs of a single booking, particularly when different airlines or fare families are combined.

6. Treat add-ons as separate purchases
Cleartrip may offer seats, meals, extra baggage, insurance and flexibility products during checkout. Review each one independently. An add-on is not part of the base fare merely because it appears on the same screen, and some optional services may be non-refundable.
Add a checked bag when you know you need it, then compare the resulting total with a fare that includes baggage. Select a seat only if the location matters to you; otherwise, accepting the airline’s standard assignment may cost less. Consider insurance by reading its covered events, exclusions and claim process rather than assuming it covers any cancellation.
7. Apply a promotion and recalculate
Enter a coupon only after you know the pre-discount total and the fare rules. A promotion can make one itinerary cheaper than another, but a lower percentage discount on a lower base price may produce the better final amount.
Cleartrip’s Offers page lists these 2026 examples:

These are conditional listings, not universal discounts. Check the offer’s eligible cards, transaction type, travel dates, excluded fares, passenger limits and validity at checkout. Confirm that the coupon actually reduced the payable total before you submit payment.
8. Enter passenger and contact details exactly
Type each passenger’s name as it appears on the document used for travel. Check the order of given name and surname, initials, date of birth, gender where requested, passport details for international travel, mobile number and email address. Use an address you can access during the trip because the confirmation and schedule notices will be sent there.
Review the itinerary one more time: origin, destination, airports, dates, local departure and arrival times, passenger count, cabin, baggage and selected extras.

Complete payment through the available method. Cleartrip says that successful payment triggers an email and SMS confirmation, and that the booking can be viewed in the app. Do not assume a payment has created a ticket until you receive a booking reference or e-ticket.

Save the e-ticket offline and record the Cleartrip Trip ID. Compare the confirmation with what you intended to buy, including:
- Every passenger name and document detail.
- Flight numbers, dates, airports and sectors.
- Fare family, cabin and baggage allowance.
- Seat, meal, insurance or other add-ons that were charged.
- Total paid, coupon deduction and any listed fees.
How to choose the best Cleartrip fare
Use three decision axes: total trip cost, schedule quality, and flexibility or coverage. Give each axis the weight that matches your trip instead of ranking every option by base price.
Total trip cost
Calculate the amount you will actually spend to take the trip. Include the displayed ticket total, a needed checked bag, seat or meal purchases, transport created by an inconvenient airport or time, and the expected cost of changing plans. A fare that is ₹700 cheaper but excludes a bag costing ₹1,200 is not the cheaper choice for a passenger who must check luggage.

Schedule quality
Compare total elapsed time, the number of stops, connection length and arrival time. A long connection may be worthwhile when it cuts the price substantially and you have no time constraint. It is poor value when it requires a hotel, a terminal transfer or a missed workday. For international itineraries, verify whether a connection requires transit permission or a change of airport; the booking screen may show the connection but not all immigration consequences.
Flexibility and coverage
Read the change and cancellation rule before choosing a non-refundable fare. A flexible product can cost more up front but reduce the loss if your plans are uncertain. Compare the premium with the likely penalty and the probability that you will need to alter the trip. Do not pay for flexibility that duplicates coverage you already have through a card or insurance policy unless its terms provide a real benefit.
When to book and how to use nearby dates
Cleartrip’s own guidance suggests domestic bookings around three to six weeks before departure and international bookings around six to ten weeks before departure. Treat those ranges as a planning aid rather than a prediction: prices depend on route, season, inventory, airline and demand.

Freedom Fare and Price Lock: different kinds of protection
Freedom Fare
Cleartrip presents Freedom Fare for international flights. Its stated benefit is a full airfare refund when the booking is cancelled at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure. The airline’s and Cleartrip’s fees, and the Freedom Fare premium, remain governed by the product terms, so “full airfare refund” does not mean that every rupee paid at checkout is returned.
Before selecting it, open the terms and check the exact cancellation channel, cutoff time, excluded services and refund timeline. Compare the premium with the standard fare’s cancellation deductions. Missing the 24-hour cutoff can remove the advertised benefit.
Price Lock
Price Lock is a paid hold option rather than a ticket. Cleartrip says the fee and expiry period vary by flight, booking, travel dates and passenger count. It can make sense when you need time to confirm leave, documents or companions and the hold cost is lower than the risk of a fare increase.
Check the precise expiry timestamp and whether the hold fee is credited toward the ticket. If you cannot complete payment before expiry, the held price may disappear and the fee may not be recoverable. Do not use Price Lock when you are already ready to book and the hold adds cost without reducing a meaningful risk.

Cancellation deductions normally combine the airline’s penalty, Cleartrip’s fee, any fare restriction and the timing of your request. Cleartrip’s flight FAQ states that, in addition to the airline’s cancellation charges, it charges a non-refundable cancellation fee of ₹400 per passenger per sector for domestic bookings and ₹1,000 per passenger per sector for international bookings. These amounts are stated by Cleartrip for 2026 and are separate from airline penalties, which vary by fare class, route and cancellation time.
Use the booking-page refund preview before confirming a cancellation. It should show the expected refund and deductions for that specific booking. A two-sector itinerary for two passengers can incur four passenger-sector calculations; do not multiply a single fee only by the number of travellers and forget the sectors.
For a change, check the airline change penalty, any fare difference for the new flight, Cleartrip’s service or convenience charge and the deadline. A “free change” label can still require a higher fare if the replacement flight costs more. If you are close to departure, contact support through the channel shown in your booking and keep the Trip ID ready.
Pre-payment checklist
- Origin and destination airports are correct for every sector.
- Departure and arrival dates and local times fit your plans.
- Layovers are long enough and do not require an unplanned airport change.
- Cabin and fare family match what you intended to buy.
- Baggage allowance is recorded for each passenger and sector.
- Special-fare eligibility and identification requirements are understood.
- Change and cancellation deadlines, airline penalties and Cleartrip fees are visible.
- Convenience fees and every selected add-on are included in the total.
- The coupon meets its minimum spend, eligible bank and payment conditions.
- Passenger names and travel-document details are exact.
- The final payable amount is the amount you expect to see on your payment statement.
After payment: protect the booking
Keep the e-ticket, confirmation email, SMS and Trip ID in two places, such as your phone and a secure cloud folder. Check the itinerary again after payment rather than relying on memory. If the confirmation does not arrive, look in spam, check the app’s bookings area and verify whether the payment was reversed or remains pending before attempting another transaction.

Monitor schedule notifications and recheck baggage and check-in requirements before departure. Choosing the lowest tile

Applying a coupon without checking its threshold
Fix it by reading the offer conditions first. A coupon with a minimum booking value can fail or provide no benefit when the eligible subtotal is too low, and a card restriction can invalidate an otherwise correct code.
Ignoring the cancellation cutoff
Fix it by writing the exact local deadline in your calendar. Waiting until after departure or the stated cutoff can turn a refundable booking into a heavily reduced or zero refund.
Entering a nickname or shortened name
Fix it by copying the travel document. Contact support promptly if an error is discovered; do not wait until airport check-in.
Buying a flexibility product without reading its scope

The practical decision rule
Choose the itinerary with the lowest total value-adjusted cost: ticket price plus necessary bags and services, the cost of its schedule, and the financial risk of changing plans. If two options are close, prefer the one with the shorter journey, better arrival time or clearer refund terms. If your plans are uncertain, price the flexibility product and the standard fare side by side. If your plans are firm and you travel light, a restricted fare can be sensible—provided the baggage and cancellation rules genuinely fit.
That approach turns Cleartrip’s search results into a decision rather than a race to the smallest number. Verify the live fare rules and promotion terms at checkout, pay only after the final review, and keep the confirmation and Trip ID for any later change or cancellation.
