- Add the server. Enter the server IP address and port in the server-address field. A common format is
123.45.67.89:7777. The server label should change from offline to unclaimed when the connection succeeds. - Select the unclaimed server. Choose that entry to open the claim screen.
- Set a server name. Enter the name you want the server to display in Server Manager.
- Create the Admin Password. Enter a strong password and record it in a password manager. Setting this password is the act that claims the server.
- Confirm the claim. Submit the form and wait for the server to become available. Reopen the server entry if the manager does not refresh immediately.
After a successful claim, the server is no longer unclaimed. The password you created is now required for administrative tabs and operations. Do not confuse this step with setting a player join password: those are separate settings, and the join password is reportedly disabled by default.
If the server remains offline
- Verify the IP address and the port, including punctuation in the
address:portformat. - Check that the server process is running and that a firewall or router is not blocking the game port.
- For a self-hosted server, confirm that port forwarding points to the machine running the server.
- If only one of the required network ports is exposed, claiming may fail even though the process appears to be running. See the port section below before changing configuration files.
Log in when someone else has already claimed the server
A claimed server cannot be claimed again. You must obtain the current Admin Password from the existing owner or administrator.

- Select the claimed server entry.
- Open an administrative tab such as Server Settings, Create Game or Manage Saves.
- When prompted, enter the server’s Admin Password.
- Complete the requested operation after authentication succeeds.
Anyone who knows that password can perform the same administrative actions. The system therefore behaves more like a shared server credential than an account-based permission system. Share it only with people who should be able to load saves, alter options or create games.
Changing the password
Changing the Admin Password changes the credential for every administrator. Existing administrators must authenticate again with the new password; knowing the old password does not preserve access. Coordinate a password change with your other operators so they do not mistake a failed login for a server outage.
Can you log in from the pause menu?
One third-party guide describes a Log In with Admin Password button in the in-game pause menu while connected to the server. According to that description, entering the password there gives access to Server Manager without returning to the main menu.
This route is not corroborated by a second source in the available material. Interface labels can vary by game build, platform or server type, so use the main-menu Server Manager path when the pause-menu button is absent. Do not assume that a missing button means the password is wrong.

Ports required for a successful claim
Port information is inconsistent in third-party material, so configure conservatively and verify the requirements for the exact Satisfactory build you are running.

For a self-hosted server, port forwarding must send the required traffic to the correct host machine, and the operating-system firewall must allow it. For an internet-hosted server, the provider may perform this forwarding for you. If a server is reachable but cannot be claimed, test both the game port and any reliable-messaging port required by your version before editing credentials.
Self-hosted server versus a hosting panel
The underlying password model is the same, but the setup experience can differ.

Available guidance says Satisfactory does not provide in-game chat commands such as /kick or /ban for routine server administration. Use the Server Manager interface instead. Depending on the operation and server type, additional administration may be exposed through:
- the Server Manager’s administrative tabs;
- the server console;
- INI configuration files; or
- an HTTPS API.
These interfaces are not interchangeable. A console or API may expose controls that are not visible in the game UI, while an INI edit can affect startup behavior and carries a higher risk of syntax or backup mistakes. Do not paste arbitrary chat-command tutorials into a Satisfactory server: a command documented for another game or hosting product will not create administrator access here.

A second guide says to stop the server, connect over SFTP, open FactoryGame/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/Game.ini, remove or reset the AdminPassword entry, restart the server and claim it again. This path is specifically described for a Linux server and may not match Windows installations or a provider’s directory layout.
Because the two procedures conflict and neither is confirmed here against official documentation, treat them as leads rather than guaranteed instructions. If you proceed after obtaining authoritative confirmation for your build, preserve the original file, record the exact change, restart only after the backup is complete and test that the server returns to the expected unclaimed state.
Security practices for the Admin Password
- Use a long, unique password that is not reused for your game account, hosting panel or operating-system login.
- Store it in a password manager and provide it only to people who need administrative control.
- Change it immediately when an administrator leaves the project or the password may have been exposed.
- After changing it, verify that each authorized operator can authenticate with the new value.
- Keep a dated backup of configuration files before any password-recovery or INI-edit operation.

The server is listed as offline
Check that the process is running, the address and port are correct, and the firewall and router rules point to the right machine. A hosted instance may need to be started from its panel before Server Manager can see it.
The server is reachable but not shown as unclaimed
It may already be claimed. Select it and try an administrative tab with the existing password. If another person set the password, only that person or someone they authorize can provide it; you cannot overwrite it by submitting a new claim.

The claim screen appears, but confirmation fails
Recheck network reachability and the ports required by your game build. In particular, the secondary 8888 requirement has been reported for Patch 1.1.0.0 but is not independently verified here. A hosting panel may also require its own setup step.
The password is rejected
Confirm capitalization, spaces and the server entry you selected. Make sure you are using the Admin Password rather than a player join password. If the password was recently changed, use the new value.
An administrative tab is missing
Return to Server Manager from the main menu, select the server again and check the available tabs. The pause-menu login route is not consistently documented, and hosted panels may expose a different interface.
