The last battle takes place on a giant elevator, and the winning priority is clear: destroy the healing pylons around the arena before committing to damage on Vashtorr. Those pylons let him recover while his thralls pressure you. Enter with full ammunition for both light and heavy weapons, keep moving around the elevator, and treat every attack-timing claim as provisional because launch documentation did not establish fixed cooldowns, health values, or frame-perfect phases.
What is confirmed about the final fight
The campaign’s documented boss progression is Lord of Skulls, Keeper of Secrets, an initial Vashtorr encounter, Lord of Change, Vashtorr’s Gauntlet, and the concluding Vashtorr fight. The final confrontation is the second major Vashtorr encounter and occurs on a large elevator arena rather than in a conventional enclosed room.

| Question | Reliable answer |
|---|---|
| Who is the final boss? | Vashtorr the Arkifane. |
| Where does the last battle happen? | On a giant elevator. |
| What objective comes first? | Destroy the healing pylons positioned around the arena. |
| Why do pylons matter? | They allow Vashtorr to recover while his thralls attack. |
| How much ammunition should you bring? | As close to full light- and heavy-weapon ammunition as the game allows. |
| Are exact attack cooldowns published? | No trustworthy launch-era source establishes Vashtorr’s health, damage, phase duration, or cooldown numbers. |
The pylon objective is the documented mechanic. Movement around the elevator, when to spend heavy ammunition, and how many thralls to clear before returning to Vashtorr are practical tactics rather than a published, guaranteed script.
Prepare before the elevator ride
Fill both light and heavy ammunition
Do not enter while carrying a reserve for a later mission. This is the final encounter, and the launch guide specifically describes the arena as one that punishes players who run out of options. Top up every available light and heavy weapon before triggering the fight. You need enough ammunition to remove pylons quickly, create space when thralls accumulate, and exploit safe moments against Vashtorr.

Think of your inventory as two separate resources. Light ammunition gives you repeatable pressure while you circle the arena; heavy ammunition is the emergency tool for a pylon that must disappear immediately or a damage opening that may not last. A full reserve lets you switch roles instead of forcing one weapon to solve every problem.
Choose the hero whose strengths match your habits
| Hero and loadout | Useful strengths in this arena | Trade-off to manage |
|---|---|---|
| Caedo: chainsword and shotgun | Close-range aggression, reliable damage while conserving heavy ammunition, and a direct way to punish enemies that reach you. | You must stay nearer to Vashtorr and the thralls, so movement discipline matters more when the elevator becomes crowded. |
| Nyra: crossbow and flamer | Precise shots for selected targets, area denial, and chokepoint control when enemies cluster around a pylon or approach lane. | Ranged positioning gives you space, but missed precision shots and poorly placed area effects can waste the time needed to remove a pylon. |
These are planning advantages, not a guaranteed Vashtorr damage chart. The available launch material presents the loadouts as general playstyle guidance; it does not assign a verified multiplier or a required hero for the boss.
Use a short pre-fight checklist
- Reload every weapon before the encounter begins.
- Confirm that both light and heavy ammunition are near maximum.
- Identify the elevator’s perimeter and the routes you will use to circle it.
- Locate the healing pylons before concentrating on Vashtorr.
- Decide which weapon handles isolated thralls and which one you will reserve for urgent pylon damage.
- Accept that ammunition spent here is not wasted; there is no later campaign fight to save it for.
How the campaign leads into the finale
The sequence of major encounters explains why the last Vashtorr fight can feel familiar without being a repeat of the earlier one. You first deal with Lord of Skulls, Keeper of Secrets, and an initial Vashtorr appearance. Lord of Change and Vashtorr’s Gauntlet follow, then the game returns to Vashtorr for the concluding battle on the elevator.

The reliable order of operations
Use this sequence as your baseline attempt. The first two steps are tied to the documented mechanic; the remaining movement and damage choices are practical guidance for keeping the arena manageable.
- Enter fully supplied. Start with loaded weapons and full light and heavy ammunition. The arena is designed to punish a single-ammo approach.
- Find the healing pylons immediately. Before chasing damage on Vashtorr, scan the elevator and identify every pylon that is sustaining him.
- Destroy pylons before settling into a damage rotation. Move from one pylon to the next, using the weapon that removes each target fastest without leaving yourself trapped against the arena edge.
- Keep circling while you shoot. A moving route around the elevator gives you room to react to Vashtorr and his thralls. Avoid standing still to trade damage when a clear lane is available.
- Reassess after each pylon falls. Check your ammunition, the number of active thralls, and your position before committing to Vashtorr. Spend heavy ammunition when a safe opening is visible rather than firing it reflexively.
- Clear only the space you need. If thralls repopulate or block your route, remove enough of them to restore movement, then return to Vashtorr. Chasing every minor enemy can give him time to recover or force you into a corner.
- Finish with controlled pressure. Once the pylons are no longer restoring him, keep the elevator circuit intact and alternate light fire, heavy bursts, and close-range attacks according to your hero’s strengths.
The final three steps are tactical recommendations, not a claim that Vashtorr follows a fixed, published sequence.
Understanding “phases” without inventing a script
Players often ask for a list of exact phases, cooldowns, or damage thresholds. No trustworthy launch source supplies those numbers for Vashtorr. You can still divide the encounter into useful operational phases, but these are decision points created by the arena and your actions rather than officially numbered boss phases.

Your first job is orientation. The elevator gives you a broad surface, but the initial seconds are dangerous if you tunnel on Vashtorr and overlook the pylons. Use the opening to establish a clockwise or counter-clockwise route, note where the thralls are entering from, and line up the nearest pylon. Do not spend heavy ammunition simply because the boss is visible; spend it when it shortens the time that a healing pylon remains active.

Operational phase 2: Pylon suppression
With a pylon selected, prioritize uninterrupted damage on that structure. Area denial is particularly useful if thralls are contesting the approach, while a precise shot or heavy burst may be preferable when the route is clear. Keep an escape lane behind you. If Vashtorr closes the distance, shift around the elevator rather than allowing the pylon attack to pin you against an edge.
Operational phase 3: Space under thrall pressure
Thralls are a movement problem as much as a health problem. When several occupy your intended circuit, remove the enemies that block your next turn or surround the active pylon. You do not need to stand and clear the entire elevator before moving; a narrow but usable lane is enough to continue the fight.
Operational phase 4: Post-pylon damage windows
After a pylon is destroyed, briefly check whether Vashtorr is exposed and whether your position is safe. This is the appropriate time to use a heavy weapon for burst damage, provided the shot will not leave you empty when another pylon or a dense thrall group demands attention. If the boss is not safely reachable, continue circling and use light ammunition until the next opening appears.
Operational phase 5: Endgame control
As the fight progresses, resist the urge to abandon your route for a single large hit. A clean circuit around the elevator is worth more than a stationary exchange that lets thralls surround you. Keep enough ammunition for an emergency pylon or a path-clearing burst, and spend the remainder once you are confident no further healing structure is active.

How to destroy healing pylons efficiently
Make the pylon the target, not the boss
Vashtorr can appear to be taking damage while the pylons restore him. That visual progress is misleading if a healing structure remains active. Aim at the pylon until it is destroyed, then move to the next one. Returning fire to Vashtorr before the arena’s healing infrastructure is disabled extends the encounter and increases the time available for thralls to accumulate.
Approach from an angle that preserves movement
Do not run directly into a pylon if that route ends at a wall, the elevator edge, or a cluster of thralls. Approach on a shallow angle that lets you continue past the target after the final shot. This keeps your movement loop intact and prevents a successful pylon kill from becoming a positional failure.
Match the weapon to the situation
Use precision fire when the structure is exposed and you can maintain a clear sightline. Use area denial to protect the approach when enemies are gathering around it. A heavy burst is justified when the pylon is restoring Vashtorr and delaying the fight, but leave enough reserve to survive the next movement check.

Movement on the giant elevator
The arena’s size encourages circling rather than retreating in a straight line. Pick a direction and keep enough distance to see both Vashtorr and the next section of floor. Short lateral changes are safer than abrupt reversals that run you into thralls. If your route narrows, cut across the open center only long enough to reach a clearer side.

- Separate boss and crowd: let Vashtorr follow your circuit while you remove only the thralls that threaten to close it.
- Use brief pauses, not long stands: stop to confirm a pylon target or reload, then resume movement immediately.
- Reposition after a kill: a destroyed pylon or cleared thrall group is a chance to widen your route, not an invitation to remain stationary.
Weapon decisions by combat situation
| Situation | Preferred approach | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| A clear pylon with a safe sightline | Use precise light fire or a controlled burst. | You preserve heavy ammunition while removing the structure. |
| Thralls crowding a pylon approach | Use area denial, then damage the pylon as soon as a lane opens. | The objective is to restore movement and stop healing, not to chase every enemy. |
| Vashtorr briefly exposed after a pylon is gone | Spend heavy ammunition if you can keep an escape route. | This converts a safe opening into burst damage without sacrificing mobility. |
| Close-range pressure on Caedo | Use the chainsword and shotgun while circling. | These tools support aggressive short-range play and help conserve heavy ammunition. |
| Longer sightlines on Nyra | Use the crossbow for selected targets and the flamer to deny approaches. | Precision and area control fit a ranged, space-managing plan. |
| Low ammunition in one category | Switch weapon types instead of forcing a single pattern. | The fight is designed around having both light and heavy options available. |
What to do when thralls overwhelm the arena
When the arena repopulates, identify the enemies that threaten your next movement step first. A thrall directly between you and the next pylon is more urgent than one outside your circuit. Fire while moving, create a temporary exclusion zone with the flamer or another area tool, and pass through as soon as the route opens.
If you stop to eliminate every thrall, Vashtorr remains active and the fight becomes longer than necessary. Conversely, ignoring a group that has closed both sides of your route leaves you pinned. The practical balance is to clear enough space to restore a continuous path, then resume the objective or boss damage immediately.
Common failures and precise corrections
| Failure | Why it happens | Correction |
|---|---|---|
| Vashtorr repeatedly returns to high health | A healing pylon is still active. | Stop treating boss damage as the priority; locate and destroy the remaining pylon before resuming the attack. |
| You run out of heavy ammunition early | Heavy weapons were used on ordinary thralls or fired outside a safe opening. | Use light weapons for routine pressure and reserve heavy bursts for pylons or clear post-pylon opportunities. |
| Thralls surround you while you attack a pylon | The approach was made without an exit lane. | Break off, move around the elevator, clear only the blockers, and re-enter from an angle that preserves a second route. |
| You take damage while reloading | A reload was attempted in the center of an active traffic lane. | Reload during a short movement gap on the elevator perimeter, then continue the circuit. |
| You cannot tell whether a boss attack is coming | Community documentation did not establish a universal attack-timing chart. | Watch the arena, maintain distance, and react to visible positioning rather than relying on an unverified countdown. |
| You spend the entire fight fleeing | Movement became an end in itself and no target was finished. | Use the circuit to reach a pylon, destroy it, then convert the next safe opening into damage. |
What the Lord of Skulls fight teaches—and what it does not
The Lord of Skulls walkthrough demonstrates Boltgun 2’s broader boss language: glowing targets, shockwave jumps, blood spray, missiles, destructible tankers, jump-pad access to a critical point, and a final head weak point. That encounter is useful preparation for a fight that combines hazards, target selection, weak points, and movement checks.
Recommended Free Tools
It is not evidence that Vashtorr uses those same attacks. Do not import Lord of Skulls’ shockwave timing, missile behavior, weak-point location, or tanker interactions into the elevator battle. Use the earlier fight to practice reading visual objectives and moving through hazards, then apply the confirmed Vashtorr rule: remove the healing infrastructure before expecting sustained boss damage.
What is still unknown
The launch-era guide explicitly cautions that Vashtorr’s specific mechanics were still being documented by the community. No trustworthy named statistic is established for his health, damage, phase duration, or attack cooldowns. Accordingly, any online chart that presents exact seconds, fixed damage values, or guaranteed phase thresholds should be treated as a player observation rather than a settled specification unless it cites later, version-specific testing.
This uncertainty does not make the fight unknowable. It changes how you plan: rely on the pylon objective, your ammunition state, visible enemy positioning, and the movement space available on the elevator. Adapt your timing to the version and difficulty you are playing instead of memorizing numbers that were never verified in the launch documentation.
A concise win plan
- Reload and fill every light and heavy ammunition reserve before entering.
- Choose Caedo for chainsword-and-shotgun aggression or Nyra for crossbow precision and flamer area control according to your preferred range.
- At the elevator, identify the healing pylons before committing to Vashtorr.
- Circle the arena, destroy each pylon, and preserve an exit lane after every kill.
- When thralls block the route, clear only enough space to keep moving.
- After the healing structures are gone, spend heavy ammunition during safe openings and maintain pressure with your light weapons.
- Ignore unverified cooldown charts; react to what Vashtorr and the arena visibly do in your run.
That approach turns the finale from a race to out-damage a regenerating boss into a sequence of manageable jobs: remove the healing pylons, keep the elevator usable, control the thrall pressure, and spend your complete arsenal before the encounter ends.
