Short answer: Update Beast of Reincarnation, load your normal platform account, make an in-game save, exit completely, relaunch, and verify the version shown at the lower-right of the title screen. Steam players should also wait for Steam Cloud to finish synchronizing; Xbox players should remain signed in to the same Microsoft account. Do not assume a Steam save can move to Xbox or PS5: no publisher-confirmed cross-platform transfer or game-specific export procedure has been published.
What “support ends” means for Beast of Reincarnation
Game Freak/Fictions announced on 16 October 2026 that the current phase of frequent major post-launch updates will end with the next patch. The notice says that patch is currently planned for 19 October 2026, but the final date is still subject to change. This is the end of that update cycle; the announcement does not say that existing saves will be deleted or that the game will stop launching.

The same notice gives the operational advice that matters for your save: “If you are currently playing, please save your progress, exit the game, and relaunch it.” It also says that, for both physical and digital editions, updates download automatically when the game is launched. In practice, your safest checkpoint is therefore a post-update save followed by a complete exit and a fresh launch.

Identify your platform and account before you begin
Fictions lists the game for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam. Save protection is tied to the platform ecosystem, not simply to your copy of the game. Write down which platform currently contains your progress and make sure you can sign in to the account that owns it.
- Steam: the store listing includes Steam Cloud for the Steam build.
- Xbox Series X|S and Xbox PC ecosystem: the Xbox listing carries Xbox Play Anywhere and Xbox cloud-save capabilities in the available platform information.
- PlayStation 5: the game is supported, but the reviewed PlayStation capability information did not show a cross-save badge.
If you play on more than one device, start with the device that has the newest progress. Do not launch an older installation on another platform and create a new save until the current platform has completed its cloud synchronization.
The seven-step backup workflow
Use this sequence on the platform where your current save exists. It is designed to leave the game and its platform service in a clean, recently verified state.
- Connect to the relevant platform account. Launch while signed in to the Steam account, Microsoft account or PS5 user profile that normally holds your progress. Avoid guest or temporary profiles.
- Allow the latest update to install. The 16 October notice lists PS5 version 01.012.000, Xbox version 1.1.1.0 and Steam version 1.1.1.0 as the current versions at the time of the announcement. Your console or PC may display a different number if a later build is released or the planned date changes. For physical and digital editions, the notice says updates download automatically when launching.
- Load the game and make an in-game save. Use the title’s normal save command or save point and wait until the game confirms completion. Do not rely only on a pause menu or an autosave icon that has not finished.
- Exit the game completely. Return to the console dashboard or close the PC game rather than leaving it suspended. A full exit gives the platform service an opportunity to upload the newest save state.
- Relaunch the game. Start it again from the same account. This is the relaunch step specifically requested in the publisher’s notice.
- Check the installed version. Look at the lower-right corner of the title screen. Record the number you see so you can tell whether the update actually installed before you continue playing.
- Confirm the platform sync. On Steam, wait for Steam Cloud to report that synchronization has completed. On Xbox, remain on the same Microsoft account and allow the Xbox cloud-save state to settle. On PS5, keep the same user profile and retain the console’s local save; no game-specific export or transfer workflow has been published.
After step seven, make a note of the date, platform and displayed version. That record will help support staff distinguish an old local save from a newly synchronized one if you later need assistance.

Steam: make sure Cloud has the newest copy
Steam Cloud is a synchronization service for the Steam version, not a universal save vault. The most important check is timing: save first, exit the game, and then wait for Steam to finish its cloud operation before opening the game on another computer.
Before switching Steam devices
- Stay online until the Steam client has completed synchronization.
- Do not start the game on a second PC while the first client is still uploading.
- If Steam displays a synchronization conflict, stop and inspect the dates or times shown rather than selecting a copy at random. Keep the copy that contains your latest confirmed in-game save.
- After downloading the cloud state on the second PC, relaunch and check that your expected progress is present before making another save.
The Steam system-requirements listing specifies 45 GB of required storage. That figure is a game installation requirement, not a measurement of save-file size, but insufficient free space can prevent an update from completing. Keep enough room for the update process instead of treating the listed number as an optional recommendation.
Xbox: keep the save inside the Xbox ecosystem
The available Xbox listing identifies Play Anywhere and Xbox cloud-save capabilities. Those features are useful when moving between supported Xbox devices or the Xbox PC ecosystem under the same Microsoft account. They do not establish a bridge to a Steam account or a PS5 profile.

Account discipline matters
Use the Microsoft account that originally created the save. A different account can look like a missing-save problem even when the cloud data is intact under the original login. If you have multiple profiles on one console, verify the active profile before launching.

When moving between Xbox devices
Complete the seven-step workflow on the device with the newest progress, then quit normally. On the destination device, sign in to the same Microsoft account and allow the cloud state to download before creating any new save. If the destination opens an apparently empty game, do not overwrite it immediately; return to the account and synchronization checks first.
PS5: protect the local save without assuming cross-save
Fictions confirms a PS5 version, but the reviewed PlayStation capability information did not display a cross-save badge. That means you should treat the PS5 save as belonging to the PS5 ecosystem unless Fictions later announces a specific migration feature.
Follow the update, in-game save, full exit and relaunch sequence on the same PS5 user profile. Keep the console connected while the update installs, and verify the version at the title screen after relaunching. Do not delete the existing save to troubleshoot a missing progress screen; first check that you are using the profile that created it.

Will a Steam save carry to Xbox or PS5?
There is no published evidence of a Steam-to-Xbox or Steam-to-PS5 transfer for Beast of Reincarnation. Steam Cloud protects Steam installations. Xbox cloud saves and Play Anywhere operate within the Xbox ecosystem. PS5 support is confirmed, but the reviewed PlayStation capability information did not show cross-save support.
Buying the game on another platform, using the same email address, or signing into a general publisher account does not by itself create a transferable save. Until Fictions publishes a named cross-progression feature with instructions, plan on separate saves for Steam, Xbox and PS5.
What is—and is not—known about local backup files
No researched source provides a verified local save path for the PC version, a PS5 or Xbox export command, or an official restore workflow for this game. Do not publish or follow a guessed folder path as if it were supported. Save locations can vary by platform, installation, account and permissions, and copying an unrelated file may produce a false sense of security.

Troubleshooting after the final update
The game still shows an older version
Return to the platform’s update screen and let the download finish. Launch again only after the platform reports completion, then check the lower-right title-screen number. The notice’s listed versions—PS5 01.012.000, Xbox 1.1.1.0 and Steam 1.1.1.0—describe the state on 16 October, not a permanent version guarantee, so a later number may be legitimate.
The update will not download
Confirm that the device is online, that you are signed in to the owning account and that there is enough free storage. Steam lists 45 GB required for the game installation. Because the publisher says updates download automatically when launching physical and digital editions, close and relaunch after the platform has recovered its connection rather than repeatedly interrupting the same download.
Steam reports a cloud conflict
Do not create a new save while the conflict is unresolved. Compare the timestamps or progress descriptions presented by Steam, identify the copy that follows your last confirmed in-game save, and allow synchronization to complete. If the choices do not clearly identify the newer copy, stop and contact support instead of guessing.
Xbox opens without the expected progress
Check the Microsoft account and profile first. The Xbox cloud-save capability applies within that ecosystem, so an account mismatch is a more immediate explanation than a cross-platform failure. Quit the game on the original device, keep it online long enough for the cloud state to settle, then sign in on the destination device with the same account.
PS5 appears to have no cross-platform progress
This is expected if the original save is on Steam or Xbox: no game-specific cross-save feature has been published. Return to the platform that contains the original save. On PS5 itself, verify the active user profile and avoid deleting local data while investigating.
The game crashes before you can save
Do not claim a backup exists if an in-game save never completed. Restart the platform, install any pending update, and try loading the most recent usable state. If the failure continues, record the platform, account type, displayed version and the point at which the crash occurs, then give those details to Fictions support. Avoid experimenting with unverified file replacement instructions.
After the update cycle ends
Keep the platform account used for the save active and avoid uninstalling the game until you have confirmed that the expected progress loads after a fresh launch. Retain your version note and any support case number. The announcement ends a phase of major updates; it does not document a future transfer service, a manual export tool or deletion of existing saves.

If Fictions later publishes a cross-save or export feature, follow that announcement’s platform-specific instructions rather than retrofitting generic Steam, Xbox or PS5 procedures. Until then, the safest model is simple: one protected save per platform ecosystem, synchronized after the final available update.
Bottom line
Update first, save in-game, exit, relaunch and verify the title-screen version. Let Steam Cloud or Xbox cloud saves settle inside their own ecosystems, keep the same PS5 profile for a PS5 save, and treat all three platforms as separate until Fictions officially documents cross-platform migration. There is currently no verified local-file or USB backup method for this title.
