Copy the game’s .sav or .srm file—not a save state—to move Pokémon progress between Android handhelds. PokeDaisy normally stores saves in Android/data/com.pokedaisy.app/files/saves/. Save the game from its own menu, close it, copy the file whose name matches the ROM, place it in the same or an intentionally selected folder on the new handheld, and verify the trainer, party, location and play time before deleting anything from the source.
PokeDaisy searches several locations in a fixed order, so duplicate files can make an apparently successful transfer load stale progress. The procedures below show how to identify the authoritative file, work around Android storage restrictions, share one save with RetroArch, and recover safely with PokeDaisy’s dated backups.

What you actually need to transfer
A Pokémon game has two different kinds of persistent data in PokeDaisy. The portable, normal in-game save is a file ending in .sav or .srm. It contains the progress written when you choose Save in the Pokémon game’s own menu. A save state is a separate emulator snapshot that can capture a game at an arbitrary moment, including during a battle. Save states are useful for experimentation, but they are not the normal artifact for moving a game to another handheld.
PokeDaisy names the in-game save from the ROM filename. For example, Pokemon Emerald.gba normally uses Pokemon Emerald.sav. If the ROM is in a ZIP archive, use the filename of the ROM inside that archive, not the name of the ZIP file. Keep the spelling, spaces, capitalization and extension exactly as PokeDaisy expects. A renamed file may be treated as a different game and appear to have no progress.

(The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
The app’s save-state files are kept separately under Android/data/com.pokedaisy.app/files/states/. Loading an older state can also restore the game’s in-game save to the condition captured in that state. That interaction is why importing a state or loading one after a transfer can make a current .sav appear to “roll back.” For a device move, transfer the .sav or .srm first and leave states out of the process unless you deliberately need one.
Where PokeDaisy looks for a save
The default PokeDaisy save directory is:
Android/data/com.pokedaisy.app/files/saves/
Changing the saves-folder setting does not move existing files. Selecting a new folder only changes where PokeDaisy looks or writes in the future; you must copy the existing saves yourself. This distinction is the most common reason a user changes a folder, opens a game and sees a fresh start.
PokeDaisy checks locations in this order:
- The game’s own folder, including a per-game SAVE FOLDER if one has been configured.
- The main folder selected for saves.
- Folders listed under ALSO LOOK IN.
The first matching save wins. If an old file remains in the main saves folder while a newer file sits in an ALSO LOOK IN folder, the old main-folder copy is the one that opens and receives writes. Treat every matching copy as a potential source of confusion and keep one authoritative copy whenever possible.
Transfer a save from the old handheld to the new one
1. Create a clean source copy
- Open the Pokémon game on the old handheld.
- Use the Pokémon game’s own Save command and wait until it reports that saving is complete. Do not rely on a recent save state as proof that the normal save is current.
- Exit the game normally or close it after the save finishes. Closing prevents an emulator session from writing an older in-memory version over the file while you copy it.
- Open a file manager or PokeDaisy’s folder controls and locate the configured save directory. If you have never changed it, start at
Android/data/com.pokedaisy.app/files/saves/. - Find the
.savor.srmwhose base name matches the ROM. Check the file’s modified time and size against the game you just saved, and look in a per-game folder if one is configured.
Copy that file to a USB-C flash drive, a computer, a microSD-card workflow, or a folder synchronized between devices. A USB-C drive is convenient when both handhelds support the required USB-OTG adapter or connector; verify that compatibility before relying on it. Make a copy rather than moving the original, and leave the source untouched until the new handheld has been tested.

2. Prepare PokeDaisy on the destination
- Install PokeDaisy on the new handheld and complete its initial setup.
- Decide whether the destination should use PokeDaisy’s private saves directory, a user-accessible shared folder, or a per-game SAVE FOLDER. Using a shared folder can simplify future transfers, while the private directory keeps files grouped with PokeDaisy.
- If Android does not allow your file manager to browse
Android/data, open PokeDaisy’s Settings > FOLDERS. Use its folder picker to select a user-accessible USB, SD-card or synchronized folder. The COPY PATH control copies the exact path so you can confirm where the app is pointed. - Copy the source
.savor.srminto the selected folder. Preserve the filename expected by the ROM. If you selected a per-game SAVE FOLDER, put the file there rather than assuming the main saves folder will still be used.
You do not need to copy a save into every location. In fact, multiple copies increase the chance that PokeDaisy will choose an older one. Pick one location, place the file there, and remove or archive competing copies only after you have a separate backup.
3. Launch and verify the destination
- Open the same ROM on the new handheld.
- Check several unmistakable details: trainer name, current map or town, party members, badges, inventory and play time. A title screen alone does not prove that the expected file was loaded.
- Make a small test save in the Pokémon game, such as saving after taking one step or changing a harmless inventory item.
- Exit the game normally, reopen it, and confirm that the test change remains. This verifies both that the file was read and that PokeDaisy is writing to the folder you intended.
- Only after this check should you consider cleaning up the old device or deleting duplicate destination files.
If the wrong progress appears, close the game before trying another copy. Inspect the game folder, main saves folder and every ALSO LOOK IN location. Compare filenames and modified times, then keep the known-good file in the highest-precedence location or remove the stale duplicate. Do not overwrite a potentially recoverable file until you have copied it elsewhere.
Working around Android storage restrictions
Recent Android versions restrict ordinary file managers from entering another app’s Android/data directory. That is a permission limitation, not evidence that the save is missing. PokeDaisy’s own folder picker can grant access to a user-selected directory, and COPY PATH helps confirm the exact location.

For a one-time move, a USB-C drive, computer or removable card avoids private-directory browsing: copy the file out of the old device through a location you can access, then select a user-accessible destination folder in PokeDaisy on the new device. If you choose a shared folder permanently, document its path and use the same folder setting on future handhelds. Do not assume that selecting a new folder migrates files; the original remains where it was until you copy it.

Use PokeDaisy’s backups before and after a move
PokeDaisy creates dated backups beside the save in a folder named pokedaisy-backups. At each game start, when the save has changed, it retains the newest 10 different copies. These are ordinary files that can also be copied off the device. Keeping one or more of them gives you a recovery path if you accidentally import the wrong file or discover corruption after the transfer.
Restore a dated backup
Use PokeDaisy’s RESTORE BACKUP command when you need to return to an earlier version. The app first preserves the current save as another dated copy, then writes the selected backup as the active save. That ordering allows you to reverse the restoration if you choose the wrong date. Close the game before restoring and reopen it afterward so no running session can overwrite the restored file.
Import an external save with LOAD SAVE
- In the PokeDaisy library, long-press the game.
- Choose LOAD SAVE.
- Select the external
.savor.srmfile. - Confirm the import.
Before writing the imported file, PokeDaisy renames the current save to a dated backup and then writes the imported data under the filename the game reads. This is safer than manually deleting the current save, because the pre-import version remains available for rollback.
Share the same save with RetroArch
PokeDaisy can read and write a RetroArch core’s existing save in place. In PokeDaisy, open Settings > FOLDERS > ALSO LOOK IN and add each core’s save directory, such as RetroArch/saves/mGBA or RetroArch/saves/gpSP. When PokeDaisy finds the matching file there, it uses that file directly, so RetroArch sees the latest changes rather than a copied snapshot.

Use one authoritative location. If a matching file also exists in PokeDaisy’s main saves folder, that main-folder file has precedence and can hide the newer RetroArch copy. After configuring the folders, launch the game from one emulator at a time, save normally, exit completely, and then open it in the other emulator. Running both at once creates an avoidable last-writer conflict.
Core compatibility still matters: the ROM, core and save format must be compatible with the file you are sharing. If one emulator uses a different filename or extension, do not rename blindly. First confirm which file each emulator actually writes, then configure PokeDaisy to look in that directory or use an intentional import through LOAD SAVE.
Use a synchronized folder safely
A Syncthing-style synchronized folder can be selected as PokeDaisy’s saves folder. PokeDaisy searches the selected folder itself; nested version-history directories such as .stversions are not treated as active save locations. Keep the active .sav or .srm directly in the selected folder, not inside a history subdirectory.

Save files versus save states
| Item | Purpose | Typical location | Use for a device transfer? |
|---|---|---|---|
.sav or .srm |
Normal Pokémon in-game progress written by the game’s Save command | Android/data/com.pokedaisy.app/files/saves/, a per-game folder, or an allowed ALSO LOOK IN folder |
Yes; this is the portable artifact |
| Save state | Snapshot of emulator memory at a chosen moment, including mid-battle situations | Android/data/com.pokedaisy.app/files/states/ |
No, unless you intentionally need that exact snapshot and understand its rollback effect |
| Backup copy | Dated previous version retained for recovery | pokedaisy-backups beside the active save |
Useful as a safety copy, not the file the game normally reads |
PokeDaisy exposes 10 save-state slots and retains the newest 10 different changed-save backups. Those are app limits, not a guarantee that every state or backup will be appropriate for another emulator. A state made with one core or game build may not be portable in the way a standard in-game save is.
Upgrading from PokeDaisey to PokeDaisy
Version 1.1.0 renamed the app from PokeDaisey to PokeDaisy. Android treats the renamed package as a new application, so the old private directory is different: Android/data/com.pokedaisey.app/ rather than Android/data/com.pokedaisy.app/.
Before uninstalling the old app, copy saves out of the old private folder. After installing PokeDaisy, select the folder containing those files during first-time setup or copy them into the new app’s configured saves directory. Saves that were already kept in a user-selected folder—for example, a RetroArch save directory—do not need to be extracted from the old private package; select that same folder in the new setup. Verify a game on the new app before removing the old installation.

Troubleshoot the common failure modes
The game starts with no progress
- Confirm that the file extension is
.savor.srm, not a save-state extension or a file still inside an archive. - Compare the save’s base filename with the ROM filename inside the ZIP, including spaces and capitalization.
- Check the game’s own folder, main saves folder and ALSO LOOK IN entries in that order.
- Use LOAD SAVE to import the file and let PokeDaisy create a backup of the current state.
The old or wrong progress loads
- Close the game and search every configured location for matching files.
- Remember that the main saves folder outranks ALSO LOOK IN.
- Move stale duplicates to an archive folder outside PokeDaisy’s search paths, retaining a separate copy first.
- Reopen the game and verify the trainer, map and play time.
The file manager cannot open Android/data
- Use Settings > FOLDERS in PokeDaisy and select a user-accessible folder.
- Use COPY PATH to confirm the selected location.
- Transfer through a USB-C drive, computer or microSD card rather than attempting to browse the private directory directly.
Progress reverted after loading a state
Loading an older save state can restore the in-game save captured with that state. Close the game, use RESTORE BACKUP to select a dated copy made after the desired session, and then make a normal in-game save before continuing.
Quick Recap
A synchronized save behaves unpredictably
- Stop using both handhelds until synchronization finishes.
- Preserve conflict and history copies before choosing one.
- Select the version with the intended trainer, location and play time, place it as the sole active save, and make a fresh in-game save.
Pre-transfer checklist
- Save through the Pokémon game’s own menu.
- Exit the game before copying.
- Identify the matching
.savor.srmby ROM filename. - Keep the original source file unchanged.
- Choose one destination folder and avoid duplicate active copies.
- Use PokeDaisy’s folder picker if Android blocks
Android/data. - Launch the same ROM and verify trainer, location, party and play time.
- Make a test save, close, reopen and confirm it persists.
- Keep dated PokeDaisy backups or an external archive before deleting anything.
