Close Rip It! Card Collector before copying anything. On Windows, back up the complete SavedGame folder, including its .bin files, to a dated folder and an independent USB flash drive or portable SSD. To restore progress, preserve the current folder, put the backed-up files back in the same location, and then start the game.
The procedure below is a careful file-management workflow based on the documented Windows save location and file pattern. It is not a developer-provided recovery utility, so keep an untouched rollback copy until your collection and progress are confirmed.

Where Rip It! Card Collector stores saves on Windows
The documented Windows save folder is:
%USERPROFILE%/AppData/LocalLow/CyberneticWalrus/Rip It! Card Collector/Data/SavedGame
The reported save pattern is *.bin. The %USERPROFILE% variable points to the Windows account currently in use, so two Windows accounts on the same computer can have different save folders. The AppData directory is normally hidden in File Explorer, but you do not need to make hidden files visible if you paste the complete path into the address bar.

Back up the folder rather than selecting one apparently recent file. The available record identifies the folder and the .bin pattern, but it does not document a single “main” save, a safe way to edit the binary data, or a supported export format.
Make a manual backup before reinstalling or changing PCs
Use this process before uninstalling the game, replacing a drive, changing Windows accounts, or allowing another copy of the game to write over the existing progress.
- Exit the game completely. Close the game window and wait until it is no longer running. Do not copy while a save is being written.
- Open the save folder. In File Explorer, click the address bar, paste
%USERPROFILE%/AppData/LocalLow/CyberneticWalrus/Rip It! Card Collector/Data/SavedGame, and press Enter. This avoids having to browse manually through a hiddenAppDatadirectory. - Copy the entire folder. Select
SavedGameand copy it, retaining every.binfile and the folder structure. Copying only one file can omit part of the collection if the game keeps more than one binary save. - Create a dated backup folder. Use a name that identifies both the game and the date, such as
RipIt-Card-Collector-SavedGame-2026-10-19. A date makes it possible to distinguish a known-good snapshot from a later copy that may contain unwanted changes. - Keep a second copy outside the game drive. Paste the dated folder to a USB flash drive or portable SSD. The second copy should not be inside the game’s installation directory or the original
SavedGamefolder. - Verify the destination. Open the dated folder and confirm that the copied
SavedGamefolder is present and that its.binfiles are visible. If the destination is removable storage, use the operating system’s safe-eject command after copying finishes. - Leave the original untouched. Do not rename, open in an editor, or delete the original save until the backup has been checked and you are ready to test it.
A backup is useful only if it can be found later. Keep the date in the folder name, record which Windows account produced it, and avoid replacing an older known-good snapshot until the newer copy has been tested.

Choosing a place to keep the backup
The important distinction is independence from the game’s working files. A removable copy can protect you from an accidental overwrite, a failed synchronization, or a reinstall that removes local data. The best destination depends on whether you need a small, portable snapshot or room for many snapshots and other PC backups.
| Backup destination | Portability | Capacity and durability guidance | Why use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| USB flash drive | Easiest to carry | Choose enough space for multiple dated snapshots; use a device suited to how often it will be moved | Simple independent copy for a small save folder |
| Portable SSD | Portable, with more room for broader backups | Better choice when retaining many snapshots or backing up other PC data | Independent storage with capacity for a larger backup set |
Neither destination changes the save format. The files remain the game’s .bin files; the removable device is simply a separate place to retain them. If you use both a local dated folder and removable storage, keep the two copies separate until restoration has succeeded.
Restore a backed-up .bin save
Restoration should be reversible. The safest sequence is to preserve the current state first, then copy the known backup into the documented folder.

- Exit Rip It! Card Collector. A running game can rewrite the files you are trying to replace.
- Open the documented save location. Use the same File Explorer address-bar method and the same Windows account that owns the save you intend to restore.
- Make a rollback copy of the current folder. Rename the existing
SavedGamefolder to a temporary name such asSavedGame-before-restore-2026-10-19, or copy it to a separate dated location. This preserves the current progress if the older backup is not the one you wanted. - Recreate the expected folder if necessary. The game expects a folder named
SavedGameunder itsDatadirectory. If renaming the existing folder left no folder with that name, create a newSavedGamefolder in the documented location. - Copy the backed-up files into place. From your dated backup, copy the backed-up
.binfiles into the newSavedGamefolder. Keep the files directly in that folder; do not create an extra layer such asSavedGameRipIt-Card-Collector-SavedGame-2026-10-19*.bin. - Start the game and check the result. Confirm that the expected collection, unlocks, and other progress appear. Check before deleting the rollback folder or reusing the removable drive for another backup.
- Keep the rollback until you are satisfied. If the restored state is wrong, exit the game, remove or rename the test folder, and put the preserved rollback folder back under the expected name.
Only the .bin pattern is documented for this title. Do not assume that a file with a different extension is safe to discard; preserve the whole original folder in your rollback copy.

Move your save to another PC
A manual transfer uses the same folder-to-folder process as a restoration. It does not require the two computers to have identical drive letters because the path is based on the destination Windows user profile.
- On the old PC, close the game and create a dated backup. Copy the entire
SavedGamefolder to removable storage, not just an individual.binfile. - Install the game on the new PC. Use the Windows account in which you want the progress to appear.
- Locate the destination folder. Paste the documented path into File Explorer. The destination is under the new account’s
%USERPROFILE%, not the old computer’s profile name. - Preserve any destination files. If the new PC already has a
SavedGamefolder, rename it as a rollback copy before replacing anything. - Copy the backup into the destination. Put the backed-up
.binfiles directly in the destinationSavedGamefolder, then launch the game and verify the collection.
If the destination folder is missing, recreate the expected folder under Data before copying the files. Keep the removable backup until the new PC has loaded the intended progress.

What Steam Cloud does—and what it does not establish
SteamDB’s user-file-system record labels Rip It! Card Collector as Steam Cloud-enabled and lists the Windows folder and *.bin pattern. That is useful evidence that synchronization is available in the platform metadata, but it does not document the behavior you will see in every recovery situation.
| Question | What is established | Practical implication |
|---|---|---|
| Is Steam Cloud listed for the game? | Yes, the SteamDB metadata marks the title as Steam Cloud-enabled | Cloud synchronization may help when using another PC, but keep a local copy as an independent fallback |
| When does synchronization occur? | The available record does not specify timing | Do not assume that the newest local change has already uploaded |
| How are conflicts handled? | The available record does not specify conflict prompts or selection rules | Preserve a dated local copy before replacing files or reinstalling |
| How long are versions retained? | The available record does not specify retention | Do not treat the cloud as a versioned archive of every previous save |
| Is there a manual download action for this title? | The available record does not specify one | Use the local folder and removable backup for a deliberate restore |
Cloud synchronization and a manual backup serve different purposes. Cloud data can follow an account between computers, while a dated offline copy gives you a point-in-time file set that you control. Before an uninstall, reinstall, machine replacement, or manual overwrite, close the game and make the local copy first.

The backup folder is empty or has no .bin files
Close the game before inspecting it and check the original documented location rather than a similarly named installation folder. The reported save pattern is *.bin, so look for those files inside SavedGame. Do not rename an empty folder over a folder that contains the existing progress.
The game starts but shows older or new-game progress
Exit immediately so it does not overwrite the files you are testing. Check that the restored files are directly inside the destination SavedGame folder and that you used the intended Windows profile. If the game still shows the wrong state, restore the rollback copy and test a different dated backup. A nested folder is a common copying mistake: the game should not have to search through the backup’s outer date-named folder.
The restored copy does not solve the problem
Keep the rollback folder and the original removable backup intact. Confirm that the backup was made while the game was closed, then repeat the restore using the complete set of backed-up .bin files. If several dated copies exist, test the one whose progress you can identify rather than deleting all alternatives.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesSteam Cloud appears to replace the files
Because synchronization timing and conflict behavior are not documented for this title, do not rely on an assumed cloud order. Exit the game, preserve the current folder under a rollback name, and keep the independent dated copy. If Steam presents a synchronization choice, read it before selecting a version; the local backup remains your controlled recovery point.
You copied files while the game was running
Make a fresh backup after fully exiting the game. A copy made during a write may not represent a consistent save set, so treat it as untrusted until a closed-game copy has been completed.
Pre-reinstall and pre-transfer checklist
- Game closed: the process is no longer running before copying or replacing files.
- Correct folder: the copy comes from the documented
SavedGamelocation under the intended Windows profile. - Complete set: the entire folder and all reported
.binfiles are included. - Dated name: the backup identifies when it was made, such as
RipIt-Card-Collector-SavedGame-2026-10-19. - Independent copy: a second copy is stored on a USB flash drive or portable SSD.
- Rollback preserved: the current destination folder is renamed or copied before restoration.
- Correct placement: restored files sit directly inside the expected
SavedGamefolder. - Verification complete: the game displays the expected collection and progress before old copies are deleted.
Following this checklist gives you two recovery options: the current folder preserved before a restore and a dated copy made before the computer or installation was changed.
