To save a webpage as a PDF on a Chromebook, open it in Chrome, press Ctrl+P, choose Save as PDF as the destination, and save the file to a location you can find again. You do not need a physical printer or a separate PDF app.
Save a webpage as a PDF in Chrome
- Open the webpage you want to archive in Chrome.
- Press Ctrl+P. You can also open the Chrome menu and choose Print (or use File > Print, if that menu is available). This opens the print interface; it does not mean you must print on paper.
- In the destination selector, choose Save as PDF.
- Check the preview. If needed, adjust available settings such as which pages to save or the layout. The controls depend on the page and browser interface.
- Select Save, give the PDF a recognizable filename, and choose where to store it.
Google documents this Chrome print workflow in its Chrome printing instructions.

Choose a location and find the saved PDF
You can save the file locally or choose Google Drive when that option is available. If you save it on the Chromebook, Downloads is the default location for downloads. Google’s Chromebook file guide explains saving to a chosen location, including Drive.
- Open the Files app from the Chromebook launcher.
- Go to the folder or Drive location you selected in the save dialog.
- Find the PDF by its filename and open it to check that it saved correctly.
Chromebooks can open PDFs from Files; the Gallery app can also view PDFs and supports basic annotation. See Google’s PDF help.

Check the PDF before relying on it
A print-to-PDF file is a document version of the page, not a guarantee that every interactive or dynamically loaded feature will be preserved. Review the print preview and open the saved PDF, especially if particular text, images, or page sections matter. Google’s instructions describe the preview and save process but do not promise that every webpage will reproduce identically.
PDF versus saving a page for offline reading
Choose PDF when you need a document to keep, share, or print later. If your goal is offline webpage reading rather than a PDF document, Google documents a separate option: right-click a page, choose Save as, and save it as an HTML file. That saves a webpage file, not a PDF. See Google’s Chromebook offline instructions.

Where Google Drive fits
Drive is optional. Depending on your print-preview configuration, you may be able to select Drive as the destination; another route is to save the PDF first and then upload it. Local storage works without using Drive.

Troubleshooting
- The dialog asks me to choose a printer. Look for the destination selector and choose Save as PDF instead of a physical printer.
- I cannot find the file. Reopen Files and check the location you chose. If you did not change it, check Downloads; also search for the filename you entered.
- The preview or saved PDF looks incomplete. Check the preview settings and inspect the saved file. Webpage content can be dynamic or load after the initial page view, and the print instructions do not guarantee that every page feature will appear in the PDF.
- I need the PDF to remain available. Confirm its location and consider an appropriate backup. Google notes that ChromeOS may sometimes clear downloaded files to manage limited local storage.
Or skip the browser setup
