Do not rely on social-media dates or unofficial price information; verify every value in the final Jio Platforms, SEBI, NSE, BSE or lead-manager issue documents before submitting a bid.
Can you apply for the Jio Platforms IPO yet?
The proposed issue is a fresh issue of equity shares, subject to statutory and regulatory requirements. Reliance Industries disclosed on June 19, 2026 that the proposal could involve up to 27,00,00,000 equity shares with a face value of ₹10 each, with the final issue price to be discovered through book building and subject to approvals. That filing is not a final application form: the number of shares, price band, lot size, investor-category limits and timetable must be taken from the final issue documents.

Jio Platforms filed its RHP on October 14, 2026 after the draft-red-herring-prospectus process and SEBI’s observation letter. The RHP extract available for this guide still shows placeholders for the anchor date, bid or issue opening date, bid or issue closing date and UPI-mandate end date. Consequently, there is no safe date, price or minimum application amount to copy into an application today. Wait for the finalized issue advertisement or prospectus and confirm that your broker, bank or other intermediary has opened the issue in its official IPO section.

An eligible IPO intermediary
SEBI’s UPI process permits submission through an eligible syndicate member, registered stock broker, registrar and transfer agent, or depository participant. The intermediary must actually support IPO applications and UPI mandates for this issue; having a trading app alone does not prove that it can accept the application.
Your own PAN-linked bank account and UPI ID
The UPI ID must be connected to a bank account owned by the applicant and linked to the PAN used in the IPO form. SEBI states that a third-party UPI ID or a third-party bank account will not be considered for allocation. Do not enter a spouse’s, parent’s, friend’s or company’s UPI credentials for an individual application.
Funds and a working UPI app
Keep enough cleared balance in the linked bank account for the entire bid amount. The UPI mandate blocks the application amount; it is not merely a notification. Your UPI app must be able to receive and approve the mandate, and you need the correct UPI PIN. Make sure notifications are enabled and that the app remains available until the mandate is authorised.

Before entering any bid, obtain the final price band, lot size, bid dates, investor-category rules, demat details and UPI mandate deadline from an official issue page or your intermediary’s IPO screen. The retrieved RHP extract does not establish those values, so a website or message quoting them without a final official document is not a reliable source.
How to apply through UPI: exact workflow
1. Open the official IPO application screen
Sign in to the IPO section of your eligible broker, bank, syndicate member, registrar or depository participant. Select Jio Platforms only when the issue is listed there as an active public issue. Compare the displayed issuer name and issue dates with the final official issue advertisement. Avoid links sent in unsolicited messages; open the intermediary’s app or website yourself.

2. Choose the correct investor category
Select the category that matches your status, such as a retail individual investor where applicable. Category rules affect the amount you may bid and the allocation process. Do not select a category simply because it appears to permit a larger application. If your circumstances do not clearly fit a category, ask the intermediary how it defines that category before submitting.
3. Enter applicant and demat details
Enter the applicant’s name, PAN, demat account number and other requested identity details exactly as they appear in the account and issue records. A spelling difference, an incorrect PAN or a demat account belonging to another person can prevent valid credit or invalidate the application. Recheck the beneficiary-owner or client identification details before proceeding.
4. Select UPI as the payment method
Choose UPI in the payment-method field and type the UPI ID linked to the applicant’s own bank account. Do not substitute a bank-account number, mobile number or another person’s handle. Some intermediaries verify the handle format immediately; that check does not replace the later mandate authorisation.
5. Enter quantity and bid price
Enter a quantity in whole lots using the final lot size. Enter a price within the final price band, or choose the cut-off option if the issue form offers it to your category. The quantity, price and cut-off choice must come from the finalized documents; the October 14 RHP extract does not provide a publishable number. Review the calculated application amount, category and account details on the confirmation page.
6. Submit the bid
Submit the form through the intermediary. The submission creates an application request but does not by itself complete the payment step. Save the application number, timestamp and confirmation screen. These records help the intermediary trace a missing or failed mandate.

7. Wait for the UPI block request
NPCI describes the sequence as the subscriber submitting the form with a UPI ID, receiving a block-mandate request in the UPI app, entering the UPI PIN and having the application amount blocked in the account. Open the UPI app associated with the handle you entered, find the public-issue mandate and check the issuer, amount, application reference and validity before approving.
8. Authorise before the official deadline
Approve the mandate with your UPI PIN before the deadline printed in the final issue documents. The retrieved RHP extract identifies the mandate end time as 5:00 p.m. IST on the bid or issue closing date, but the date itself remains a placeholder. Treat the final advertisement or prospectus as controlling if the displayed deadline changes. A bid with no authorised mandate by the deadline may not be considered complete.
9. Keep the blocked balance untouched
After approval, the application amount remains blocked in the linked bank account while allotment is processed. Do not close the account, change the UPI handle, revoke the mandate or spend the blocked balance. Keep the UPI app and bank account operational until the allotment and release or debit entries appear.
10. Check allotment and the final debit
If shares are allotted, the amount required for those shares is debited and the shares are credited to the demat account specified in the application. In a partial allotment, the amount for the allotted shares is debited and the unused portion is unblocked. If there is no allotment, the blocked amount is released through the mandate’s end or expiry process. Check both the registrar or intermediary’s allotment status and your bank statement; a UPI notification alone is not a substitute for those records.
UPI limits, identity checks and deadlines
- Retail transaction ceiling: SEBI’s current investor guidance states that the UPI application limit is ₹5 lakh per transaction for retail individual investors. This is a transaction limit, not a promise that every retail applicant can bid for any issue amount; the final issue documents and category rules still apply.
- Approved UPI channels: Use only a mobile application and UPI handle appearing on SEBI’s public-issue list. If your handle or app is not supported, select another eligible payment arrangement offered by an approved intermediary rather than entering an unverified handle.
- Name and account matching: The applicant name, PAN, demat account, bank account and UPI identity must describe the same applicant. Third-party UPI IDs and third-party bank accounts are not considered for allocation.
- Closing-time discipline: A submitted bid still requires an authorised mandate. Keep the UPI app available and act before the official mandate end time. For the retrieved RHP, the stated time is 5:00 p.m. IST on the closing date, while the actual date remains unfilled.
What happens after you approve the mandate?
The money is blocked, not immediately transferred
Approval places a lien or block for the application amount in the bank account. You generally cannot use that blocked portion for another payment, but it remains in your account until the allotment debit or release event. The block protects the application process without requiring an upfront transfer to the issuer.

Allotment determines the debit
The amount debited is tied to the shares actually allotted. A full allotment results in a debit for the allotted quantity. A partial allotment results in a smaller debit and release of the balance. A rejected or unsuccessful application should have its blocked amount released after the mandate’s end or expiry process.
Shares go to the specified demat account
Allotted equity shares are credited electronically to the demat account entered in the application. If the account details are wrong or do not match the applicant, contact the intermediary promptly using the application number; do not submit a second application merely because the credit is not visible immediately.
UPI versus bank ASBA
Both routes use the ASBA protection described by SEBI: the application money remains blocked and is debited only as required for allotment. The practical difference is how you submit the bid and authorise that block.
| Comparison point | UPI application | Bank ASBA application |
|---|---|---|
| Convenience | Submit through an eligible broker, bank, syndicate member, registrar or depository participant, then approve a digital mandate in a UPI app. | Submit through a bank’s ASBA facility offered for the issue; the bank’s available branch or online process governs the experience. |
| Mandate authorisation | Enter your own UPI ID, receive the NPCI block request and authorise it with the UPI PIN. | No UPI mandate approval is required; the bank places the ASBA block under its own process. |
| Cut-off timing | You must submit the bid and approve the mandate by the times in the final issue documents. The retrieved RHP states 5:00 p.m. IST for the mandate end but leaves the date as a placeholder. | Use the bank and issue-specific ASBA submission cut-off. Confirm it with the bank rather than assuming it matches the UPI deadline. |
| Supported intermediary | Only an eligible intermediary and a UPI app or handle appearing on SEBI’s public-issue list should be used. | Only a bank authorised to accept ASBA applications for the issue can process the form. |
| Release of blocked funds | Funds are debited for allotted shares and the unneeded block is released for partial or zero allotment. | The same underlying ASBA protection applies; the bank releases the unneeded amount after the allotment process. |
Choose the route you can monitor reliably. UPI is convenient when your handle, app and notifications work; bank ASBA may be preferable if you do not use UPI or cannot approve a mandate within the issue window.
Broker app versus bank, registrar or depository-participant submission
| Decision point | Broker app | Bank, registrar or depository participant |
|---|---|---|
| Eligibility | Must be a SEBI-registered stock broker that accepts this IPO and supports the selected payment route. | Must be an eligible syndicate member, bank, registrar and transfer agent, or depository participant authorised to accept the application. |
| Bid changes | The app may provide bid-revision controls while the issue is open; availability and cut-off are controlled by the intermediary and final issue rules. | Revision facilities differ by channel. Confirm how a change is recorded and whether a new mandate approval is required. |
| UPI support | Usually presents a UPI field and routes the request to the linked app, but you still must approve the mandate yourself. | May offer UPI, bank ASBA or both. Use only the payment method displayed for that intermediary and issue. |
| Application record | Provides an in-app order or application number that you should save with the mandate confirmation. | Provides a bank, registrar or DP acknowledgement. Keep the stamped or electronic record until funds and shares are settled. |
Common failures and how to recover
No mandate arrives
Check that the UPI ID was typed correctly, the handle belongs to the applicant’s bank account and the UPI app is online. Look in the app’s pending mandates rather than relying only on a push notification. If nothing appears, contact the intermediary with the application number while the issue is still open; submitting another form without guidance can create confusion.
Best Value
The mandate is declined or expires
Confirm that the bank account has sufficient unblocked funds, the UPI PIN works and the mandate details match the application. A declined or expired mandate can leave the bid incomplete. Ask the intermediary whether its issue rules permit a corrected submission before the closing deadline; do not assume a late approval will be accepted.
The wrong UPI ID or account was entered
Do not approve a mandate addressed to another person or account. Contact the intermediary immediately and follow its correction or cancellation process. Because SEBI excludes third-party UPI and bank credentials from allocation, changing the payment identity after the deadline may not rescue the application.
The bank shows a block but the intermediary shows no confirmation
Save screenshots of the mandate, reference number and blocked amount. Ask both the intermediary and bank to trace the UPI transaction using that reference. Do not revoke the block until the intermediary confirms whether the bid is valid, because cancellation can prevent allotment.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
The application amount remains blocked after no allotment
Check the registrar or intermediary’s allotment result and the mandate’s expiry or release status. If the release has not appeared after the stated process, give the bank the application and mandate references and ask it to investigate the lien. Keep written acknowledgement of the complaint.
The allotted shares are not visible in the demat account
Verify that the debit occurred and that the demat details in the application were correct. Contact the intermediary or registrar with the application number and client identification details. A delayed display in one app does not necessarily mean the shares were not credited, so check the depository statement as well.
Safety checklist before pressing Submit
- Confirm that the Jio Platforms issue is listed in your intermediary’s official IPO section and matches the final issue advertisement.
- Read the final price band, lot size, bid dates, category rules and mandate deadline; do not copy placeholders or unofficial figures.
- Use the applicant’s own PAN, demat account, bank account and UPI ID.
- Verify the UPI handle and app against SEBI’s public-issue list.
- Check the quantity, price or cut-off choice and total application amount.
- Save the application acknowledgement and keep the UPI app available for the mandate request.
- Approve only a mandate whose issuer, amount and reference match your application.
- Keep sufficient funds blocked until allotment, debit or release is visible.
Key dates and figures to verify from the final documents
| Item | What is established | What you must verify before applying |
|---|---|---|
| RHP filing | Jio Platforms filed its RHP on October 14, 2026. | Use the final issue advertisement or prospectus for actionable dates. |
| Proposed issue size | An earlier June 19, 2026 filing described a proposed fresh issue of up to 27,00,00,000 equity shares of ₹10 face value. | Confirm the final number of shares and any changes made after regulatory review. |
| Issue price | To be determined through book building. | Final price band, cut-off rules and application amount. |
| Bid opening and closing | Dates are placeholders in the retrieved RHP extract. | Opening date, closing date and category-specific cut-offs. |
| UPI mandate end | The extract states 5:00 p.m. IST on the closing date, but the date is a placeholder. | The completed date and any revised time in the final documents. |
| Retail UPI ceiling | ₹5 lakh per transaction under SEBI’s current investor guidance. | Whether your category and application comply with the final issue terms. |
When a demat account is not optional
For this electronic public-issue route, the demat account is where allotted shares are credited, so an active account in the applicant’s name is a practical prerequisite. Opening an IPO-enabled demat account does not guarantee allotment. Before using a provider, verify that it is SEBI-registered, accepts IPO applications and supports the payment route you intend to use. A referral or account-opening offer should never replace those checks.
What to retain after applying
Keep the application number, bid confirmation, UPI mandate reference, amount blocked, demat client details and copies of any correction request. These records let the intermediary, bank and registrar reconcile a missing mandate, an incorrect debit or a delayed release. Once the allotment result and bank release or debit are correct, retain the final contract note or allotment communication with your investment records.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsBottom line
To apply for the Jio Platforms IPO with UPI, use an eligible SEBI-registered intermediary, enter the applicant’s own PAN-linked UPI ID and demat account, submit the bid using only the final price and lot information, and approve the NPCI mandate before the official deadline. The amount is blocked in your bank account, debited only for shares allotted and released for the unallotted portion. Because the October 14, 2026 RHP extract still contains placeholder dates and pricing fields, wait for the completed official issue documents before acting.
