Reliance Industries’ 14 October 2026 exchange filing says Jio Platforms Limited filed its Red Herring Prospectus (RHP) that day. The public issue is scheduled to open on Wednesday, 21 October 2026 and close on Friday, 23 October 2026. At the 19 October 2026 publication date, the issue had not yet opened, so confirm the final price band, lot size and mandate deadline in the final issue notice before submitting.

What you need before opening the application
UPI applications use the ASBA process. Instead of transferring the entire application amount immediately, your bank blocks it in the account connected to your UPI ID. The funds remain unavailable for other payments while the issue is processed, but the debit occurs only for shares actually allotted.
- A demat account: The demat or beneficiary account must be active and capable of receiving equity shares.
- An eligible bank account: The account must be with an SCSB (Self-Certified Syndicate Bank) or another UPI-enabled bank accepted for IPO applications.
- An eligible UPI ID: It must be linked to the bank account from which the mandate will be authorised. The UPI application or bank must appear on the current eligible lists maintained through SEBI’s process.
- PAN and demat details: Keep the PAN, depository participant or beneficiary details and the exact name on the demat account available while filling the bid.
- Sufficient cleared balance: The account must have enough available funds for the maximum bid amount, including any amount calculated from the selected quantity and price.
- Access to the authenticated UPI app: You must be able to review and approve the mandate in the app itself. Never approve a request based only on a phone call, text message or email instruction.
SEBI’s enabled-bank and UPI-app lists can change. Check the current list before relying on an app that has worked for another IPO.
Where you can submit the Jio Platforms bid
The RHP permits several application channels. The important question is not which interface looks fastest; it is whether the channel is permitted, correctly connected to your demat and bank details, and able to show the mandate and application status clearly.

| SCSB or bank app | Check that the bank is on the eligible SCSB list and that the account selected for the application is the same account attached to the UPI ID. | The bank’s IPO application history and the official registrar or exchange status channel. |
| Depository participant | Verify the DP’s eligibility and the beneficiary account number before the bid is submitted. | The DP’s application record and the registrar’s official enquiry facility. |
| Syndicate member | Use a permitted syndicate member and review the bid-cum-application form for PAN, quantity, price and UPI information. | The acknowledgement supplied by the intermediary, then the registrar or exchange channel. |
| Registrar | Follow the registrar’s issue-specific application process and ensure the demat and UPI details match. | The registrar’s application and allotment enquiry page. |
These routes are alternatives, not separate quotas. Submitting through more than one channel can create duplicate or otherwise invalid applications under the issue rules, so use one correctly completed application for each intended bid.
Step-by-step: apply through UPI
1. Open an eligible IPO application screen
Sign in to the eligible bank, broker, DP, syndicate-member or registrar application screen during the 21–23 October issue window. Select the Jio Platforms IPO exactly as it appears in the live issue list. If the issue is not visible, do not use a similarly named link from an unsolicited message; verify availability with the intermediary through its authenticated app or official support channel.
2. Select your investor category
Choose the category that matches your status. A regular individual bid generally uses the Retail Individual Investor category when the total bid is no more than ₹200,000. An individual bidding above that retail ceiling may fall into the non-institutional category, subject to the RHP and applicable law. Eligible Reliance Industries public shareholders can use the RIL Shareholders Reservation Portion if they satisfy the RHP’s record-date, holding and other conditions.
3. Enter PAN and demat information
Enter your PAN and demat or beneficiary account details exactly as recorded by the depository. A spelling difference, incorrect beneficiary number or PAN mismatch can prevent proper processing or credit of allotted shares. If your application screen pre-fills these fields, inspect them rather than assuming they are correct.
4. Enter quantity and bid price
Enter the number of shares and the bid price shown in the final issue notice. Where the issue permits it, an eligible individual investor may select the cut-off option instead of typing a price; the live application screen determines whether that option is available for your category. The available RHP extract does not establish the final price band or lot size, so do not calculate a bid from unofficial figures or bracketed placeholders.
5. Provide the linked UPI ID
Type the UPI ID associated with the bank account that will provide the blocked funds. The RHP requires UPI bidders to provide this ID in the bid-cum-application form. Check every character before submitting; a mandate sent to a different or inactive ID will not complete the application.
6. Review the application summary
Before pressing submit, verify the issue name, investor category, PAN, demat account, quantity, price or cut-off selection, UPI ID and total application amount. Save the application or acknowledgement number displayed by the intermediary. This number is useful if the mandate appears late or you need to trace an application later.
7. Submit the bid before the published closing date
Submit the application no later than Friday, 23 October 2026, while the intermediary is accepting bids. The precise time by which the UPI mandate must be approved is not confirmed in the available RHP extract. A bid entered shortly before the closing time may fail if the mandate reaches your UPI app after the intermediary’s cut-off, so submit early and rely on the final issue notice and the live application screen for the exact deadline.

After submission, the bank or intermediary sends a UPI mandate request. Open the UPI app directly, locate the pending IPO mandate and compare the issue name, applicant details and amount with your application. Authorise it using the app’s normal authentication method. NPCI describes this sequence as bid submission followed by authorisation of the mandate request in the UPI application.
9. Confirm that the mandate is active
Return to the IPO application screen or UPI mandate list and confirm that the request is shown as approved, accepted or active—not merely initiated. Keep the mandate active while the issue is being processed. Do not cancel or reject a valid request simply because the money still appears in your account; the purpose of the mandate is to block it until the allotment process determines the required debit.
Investor limits and the Reliance shareholder portion
Retail individual investors
The RHP defines a Retail Individual Investor as an individual bidding for no more than ₹200,000. That threshold concerns the total value of the bid at the selected price, not simply the number of shares. Because the final price band and lot size are not yet stated in the available extract, calculate the final value only from the figures in the issue notice.
Rank #3
Individual non-institutional UPI bidders
The RHP also identifies individual UPI bidders in the non-institutional category for bids up to ₹500,000, or another amount prescribed by law. Select the category that matches the amount and the eligibility rules displayed in the final application form; do not select a category merely to obtain a preferred allocation pool.

Eligible Reliance Industries shareholders
Eligible RIL public shareholders may apply through the RIL Shareholders Reservation Portion using UPI, subject to the RHP’s eligibility and bidding rules. Reliance Industries’ filing says equity shares worth up to ₹2,500 crore are proposed for this portion. Holding shares alone does not remove the need to use the correct PAN, demat details, category and application route.
Employee reservation
The filing says equity shares worth up to ₹500 crore are proposed for eligible employees. This is a separate eligibility question from retail or shareholder status. Apply in the category for which you can satisfy the final issue documents, and do not claim an employee benefit unless the issuer’s rules confirm it.
What happens after you approve the UPI mandate?
The amount is blocked, not immediately transferred
Once the mandate is accepted, the bank places a block on the application amount. You normally continue to see the balance in the account, but the blocked amount cannot be freely used. Under the ASBA process described by NPCI and the issue documents, the bank debits the amount required for shares allotted to you rather than automatically debiting the full bid.
If shares are allotted
The amount corresponding to the allotted shares is debited under the issue procedure, and the shares are credited to the demat account specified in the application. Keep your application acknowledgement and mandate record until the allotment and credit are visible.
If no shares are allotted or the final debit is lower
If no shares are allotted, the block is released according to the issue procedure. If fewer shares are allotted than requested, only the amount applicable to the allotment is debited and the remaining blocked amount is released under that procedure. The exact release timing should be checked in the final issue documents and with the bank if a block remains after the stated processing period.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to check application and allotment status
- Start with the intermediary where you placed the bid and open its IPO, orders or application-history section.
- Use the application number, PAN or demat details requested by the official status service.
- Check the issue-specific enquiry facility operated by KFin Technologies Limited, the registrar named in the RHP, when it becomes available.
- Use the official BSE or NSE status channels identified in the issue documents for exchange-side information.
- Compare any allotment result with the debit shown by your bank and the credit shown in your demat account.
Status pages can update at different times. A missing result immediately after the bidding window does not by itself prove that the application failed; use the official channels and retain the acknowledgement until processing is complete.
UPI application problems and practical fixes
No mandate request arrives
First check that the UPI ID in the application is correct and that the app is connected to the same bank account. Open the UPI app directly rather than relying on a notification. If the request still does not appear, check the intermediary’s application status and contact its official support channel before the mandate deadline. Do not submit a second application merely because a notification is delayed.
The mandate shows the wrong amount or issue
Do not approve a request whose issue name, applicant or amount does not match your submitted bid. Reject or leave it pending and contact the intermediary through an official channel. A UPI request that names a different issue or an unexpected amount should be treated as a warning sign, not corrected by sharing credentials with a caller.

The mandate is pending near the deadline
Keep the UPI app open, confirm that your phone has connectivity and complete authentication promptly. The final issue notice—not an old IPO timetable—controls the cut-off. If the mandate cannot be authorised before that cut-off, the bid may not be considered even if the form was started earlier.
The app says the bank or UPI service is unsupported
Check SEBI’s current list of enabled SCSBs and UPI applications. If your provider is not listed, use another permitted route rather than attempting to bypass the eligibility requirement. The demat account and bank or UPI details still need to match the application.
You accidentally cancel a valid mandate
Contact the intermediary and bank immediately through their official support channels and ask whether a valid replacement request can be generated before the permitted deadline. Do not assume that cancelling and reapplying will preserve the original submission time.
Security checks that prevent UPI fraud
- Open the bank or UPI app yourself; do not use a payment link sent by an unknown caller or message.
- Confirm the issue name, amount and applicant details on the mandate screen before authorising.
- Never disclose your UPI PIN, OTP, debit-card PIN, password or banking credentials to anyone claiming to process the IPO.
- Use only official issuer, SEBI, BSE, NSE, registrar and eligible-intermediary channels named in the RHP and final issue notice.
- Be suspicious of promises of guaranteed allotment, priority processing or a refund that requires you to send money manually.
- Keep screenshots or downloaded acknowledgements showing the application number and mandate status, but store them securely.
Final pre-submission checklist
- The public issue date shown by the intermediary is within 21–23 October 2026.
- Your bank or UPI provider is eligible under the current SEBI-maintained list.
- Your PAN, demat or beneficiary details and category are correct.
- Your quantity and price use the final issue notice, not an unconfirmed online estimate.
- Your UPI ID is linked to the account holding enough available funds.
- You have recorded the application number.
- You will approve the mandate only inside the authenticated UPI app.
- You will keep the mandate active and monitor the intermediary, registrar and exchange status channels.
The Jio Platforms IPO’s UPI route is straightforward when the application data, category and mandate all match. The key unresolved figures at this publication date are the final price band, bid lot and exact UPI mandate cut-off; verify those items in the final issue notice before you place the bid.
