To control multiplayer access for Game Center games, open Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > App Store, Media, Web & Games > Game Center > Multiplayer Games. Choose whether to allow play with everyone, friends only, or no one. The setting applies to games that use Game Center features, not necessarily to multiplayer modes run through a game’s own account or service.
Change the multiplayer setting

Open Settings and tap Screen Time.

Tap Content & Privacy Restrictions. Turn restrictions on if they are off. If you are managing a child’s device through Family settings, select the child and enter the Screen Time passcode if prompted.

Apple documents this Screen Time control for iPhone and iPad. Menu wording can differ by software version, so use the closest matching labels shown on your device. Apple’s iPhone guide to content restrictions and iPad’s content-restrictions guide describe the controls.

Choose the right access level
| Setting | What it allows | When to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Everyone | Multiplayer with anyone in games using Game Center features. | When there is no restriction on who can join multiplayer games. |
| Friends only | Multiplayer limited to Game Center friends. | When multiplayer is acceptable only with people already connected as friends. |
| Don’t allow | Blocks multiplayer games that use Game Center features. | When you want to prevent Game Center multiplayer altogether. |
These choices do not necessarily control every game’s online play. Apple says its restrictions apply only to games that use Game Center features. A title that uses its own account, servers, or parental controls may still offer multiplayer; check that game’s settings or support information if play remains available. Apple’s parental-controls guide explains this limitation.
Stop invitations from nearby players
If the specific problem is invitations from people physically nearby, use the separate Game Center control: open Settings > Game Center and turn off Nearby Players. Apple says nearby players in the same game can use Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to invite you to multiplayer. This setting addresses nearby invitations; it is not the same as setting the general multiplayer access level to “Don’t allow.” Apple’s guide to managing a child’s iPhone or iPad lists both controls.

Use separate restrictions for other Game Center activity
The multiplayer choice does not replace Game Center’s other restrictions. In the same Screen Time area, Apple lists controls for adding friends, connecting with friends, screen recording, nearby multiplayer, private messaging, changing profile privacy, and changing an avatar or nickname. Adjust the specific control that matches the activity you want to manage; restricting friends or messaging is distinct from restricting multiplayer. Manage the setting for a child
Parents can manage a child’s Screen Time restrictions from the child’s device or through Family settings. Select the child in Screen Time when prompted, then use the same Game Center restriction path. Apple notes that some restrictions may be set according to age, and that syncing parental-control settings across Family Sharing devices depends on software versions. As a result, defaults and labels may not look identical on every child’s device. Apple’s parental-controls instructions describe the family controls and version considerations.
