How to Adjust Notifications and Voice Controls on Android XR Glasses

Android XR glasses notifications depend on companion-app and phone settings. Google documents “Hey Google” and a frame tap for Gemini, while exact controls vary by model.

To manage notifications on Android XR glasses, check three places: the glasses’ companion app, the paired phone’s app and notification-channel settings, and the phone’s Do Not Disturb setting. For Gemini, Google describes saying “Hey Google” or tapping the side of the frame. Exact settings and controls vary by glasses model, and Google’s public documentation does not provide a complete retail-model walkthrough.

First, identify your glasses and their controls

Google describes two kinds of intelligent eyewear: audio glasses, which provide spoken assistance, and display glasses, which can show information. Voice is the primary interaction mode for both, with touchpad gestures and side buttons also possible; the available controls depend on the model. Check the instructions for your specific glasses before assuming a gesture or button does a particular job.

Availability can also vary by market and date. On October 3, 2026, Google’s product page described audio glasses as “Coming this fall,” display glasses as forthcoming, and other devices as expected later in 2026. Those statements indicate announced timing, not that a particular model is available to buy where you live.

Adjust which phone notifications reach the glasses

Glasses notifications are affected by separate settings on the companion app and phone. Google’s Android XR documentation says the companion app’s per-app notification toggles are off by default. A phone app can therefore keep sending notifications to the phone while its notifications are disabled on the glasses.

  • 【SMARTEST: YOUR SCREEN, YOU RULES — No Software Needed】 Your Screen. You Rules! Built-in VisionPair 3DoF lets you pin, resize, and lock a 174″ screen in mid-air — no software, no dongles, no drift. Full screen customizations built right into the glasses: Anchor, Smooth Follow, 32:9 UltraWide, Side Mode. Auto Transparency switches between immersion and the real world with one tap. Smart Re-Centering snaps your view back instantly.
  • 【BIGGEST: THE ULTIMATE IMMERSIVE GIANT — 174″ Screen, 58° FOV, 1200p】The largest virtual display in consumer XR. Period. A 174″ screen powered by Sony's latest-generation Micro-OLED panel pushes 1200p per eye at a class-leading 58° field of view with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Every frame is edge-to-edge sharp, silky-smooth, and jaw-droppingly vivid. It's like strapping an IMAX to your face.
  • 【SMARTEST: 9-LEVEL DIMMING + AUTO TRANSPARENCY — No Software Needed】 Another reason The Beast is the smartest XR glasses ever made. One tap shifts between crystal-clear AR and full cinematic blackout across 9+ electrochromic levels — no app, no software, just hardware intelligence. Auto Transparency adapts between immersion and awareness on its own. Bright office, dim plane, pitch-dark bedroom — The Beast reads the moment for you. No glare. No reflections. Just pure immersion.
  • 【BOLDEST: NEXT-LEVEL CLARITY & AUDIO — 1250 Nits + HARMAN AudioEFX】1250 nits of peak brightness — over 2× brighter than the competition — means you can actually see your screen outdoors, in sunlight, no squinting required. Pair that with HARMAN AudioEFX: deeper bass, wider soundstage, and crystal-clear highs tuned by the world's leading audio engineers. Other XR glasses make you choose between picture and sound. The Beast gives you both — cranked to eleven.
  1. Check the glasses companion app. Open the app paired with your glasses and look for its controls for notifications by app. Enable notifications for the apps you want to reach the glasses. The documented behavior confirms the app-level choices exist, but does not establish a universal menu path or label; consult the model’s current help for the exact location.
  2. Check the app’s phone notification settings. If notifications are disabled for an app on the paired phone, they will not be bridged to the glasses. Review the phone’s app notification permission and enable the notifications you want.
  3. Check notification channels. If the relevant notification channel is disabled on the phone, its notifications will not be bridged either. Review the channel associated with the type of alert you expect, where the phone exposes channel controls.
  4. Check Do Not Disturb on the phone. The phone’s Do Not Disturb state suppresses notifications on the glasses. If you expect an alert, check whether Do Not Disturb is active and adjust it as appropriate.

These are filters, not a guarantee that every phone alert will appear. Android XR’s developer documentation describes additional eligibility rules: a bridged notification needs high or maximum importance, a nonempty title, and must not be marked local-only. Ongoing notifications are excluded unless they qualify as Live Updates. These are platform criteria, not settings the glasses wearer can necessarily change.

Use voice or the frame control to access Gemini

Google’s May 19, 2026 announcement says, “Just say ‘Hey Google’ or tap the side of the frame to instantly access Gemini.” Google describes using Gemini to ask about what you see, get directions, manage calls, send texts, and summarize missed messages. The announcement establishes those two access methods at the platform level; it does not establish a setting for changing the wake phrase or confirm that every model supports the same options.

If you want to adjust voice access, find the instructions for your exact glasses model in its current companion-app help or device documentation. The available sources do not establish a shared Android XR menu path for wake-word configuration or other voice settings, so avoid relying on instructions for a different model.
