You can prepare additional videos in vMix’s PlayList or List, but vMix’s documentation does not guarantee that changing either queue while it is on air will be interruption-free. First distinguish a vMix playback queue from a YouTube playlist: vMix selects and plays your production inputs; YouTube’s live-stream setup connects that production to the broadcast. If the stream is already live, test the exact edit in your vMix version and setup before relying on it during a production.
First, identify which playlist you mean
A YouTube live stream is the broadcast connection; the videos going out over it are controlled in vMix. vMix provides two relevant features:

- PlayList sequences vMix inputs. You can set playback duration, transition, transition time and starting position for an item. It also has Next and Previous controls, plus Manual Mode, which stops automatic advancement until you click Next. vMix PlayList help.
- List plays video and audio files as a single vMix input. Its editing tab provides Add, Edit and Remove, with Auto Next and Loop options. vMix says this approach can avoid loading all videos at once. vMix Help 28 user guide and vMix List and PlayList scheduling article.
Choose PlayList when you want to sequence separate vMix inputs with per-item settings. Choose List when you want multiple media files managed as one input. Neither feature is the YouTube stream connection itself.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minutePrepare a vMix PlayList
- Open the PlayList window by clicking the cog beside the PlayList control.
- Under Available Inputs, select the video input you want to include, then click the right-arrow button to add it.
- Set the item’s duration, transition, transition time and starting position as needed.
- Use the PlayList’s Next and Previous controls to move through items. If you enable Manual Mode, the playlist will wait for you to click Next rather than advancing automatically.
For a multi-file queue managed as one input, open the List editing tab instead, then use Add to include files, Edit to adjust an entry or Remove to delete one. Set Auto Next and Loop to match how you want playback to proceed.

Can you add videos while the stream is already live?
The official vMix instructions describe how to build and control PlayLists and Lists, but do not establish that adding or editing entries while a queue is running leaves the on-air output untouched. The YouTube setup guides explain how to connect vMix to a live stream; they do not describe inserting individual clips into YouTube’s live stream. See the PlayList guide, the Help 28 user guide, vMix’s YouTube Live guide and its Stream Now setup guide.
For a production broadcast, build or update the queue before going live where possible. If you need to change it during a live show, test the same operation off-air with the same vMix version and configuration. Check both the current output and the next transition before making the change on the production stream. Do not assume a queue edit is safe just because the live-stream connection remains active.

Keep queue editing separate from YouTube connection setup
vMix’s YouTube instructions cover connecting to YouTube Live, including using Live Stream Now or a stream created through YouTube Studio with a stream key. That connection is separate from selecting which vMix input is on output. If the YouTube broadcast is already receiving the vMix production, changing the playback queue is a vMix operation—not a way to add clips to a YouTube playlist or edit the stream key. Follow the connection steps in the relevant YouTube Live guide or Stream Now guide.
