To add another language to a YouTube live-stream replay, upload a prepared audio-only dub in YouTube Studio on a computer: open the video’s Languages settings, add the language, choose Add next to Dub, select the file, and publish it. This adds audio to an existing video; it does not change the audio being sent during an active broadcast.
What you need before you start
YouTube’s manual multi-language audio feature lets you upload your own dubbed track; it does not translate or create the recording for you. You can record the dub yourself or arrange for a dubbing provider to make it. YouTube’s current Help page says access to the feature requires Advanced features. YouTube’s multi-language audio guidance explains the feature and access requirement.

- A prerecorded stream saved as a video on your channel.
- A prepared audio-only file in a format YouTube supports. YouTube says the track should be roughly the same length as the video.
- Access to YouTube Studio on a computer and to the feature’s Advanced features eligibility.
- Permission to use all material in the secondary audio track. YouTube may remove a secondary track if it detects copyrighted content that differs from the original audio.
The workflow does not require a particular microphone, interface, headphones, or encoder. You need a finished audio file, not an encoder sending a live signal.
Upload a language track to the replay
- Sign in to YouTube Studio on a computer.
- Select Languages from the left menu, then choose the archived livestream video.
- Select Add Language and choose the language of the new audio.
- Next to Dub, select Add.
- Select the prepared audio-only file. Check that it is in a supported format and roughly matches the video’s length.
- Select Publish.
The added track is associated with the existing video. It is not a second video upload, and it does not start or modify a live broadcast.

Replace an existing track or automatic dub
If an automatic dub already exists for the language you want to upload, delete that dub first. To replace a manually uploaded track, delete the existing language audio from the video’s Languages page, then upload and publish the replacement. YouTube documents these steps in its multi-language audio Help page.
Manual audio versus automatic dubbing
These are separate options, not two names for the same feature. YouTube’s guidance states: “Not automatic dubbing: Multi-language audio lets you upload your own dubbed audio tracks.” Automatic dubbing generates translated tracks for eligible creators, and availability and supported languages can vary. See YouTube’s automatic dubbing information for its separate feature.

| Option | Who creates the language track? | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Manual multi-language audio | You or a dubbing provider prepares the audio file. | You control the recording you upload, but must arrange and prepare the dub. Remove an existing automatic dub in that language before uploading your own. |
| Automatic dubbing | YouTube generates translated tracks for eligible creators. | Eligibility and language availability can vary. It is a distinct YouTube feature, not a way to upload your own recording. |
Choosing languages and setting expectations
YouTube suggests that multi-language audio may suit creators who already get views from multiple geographies or frequent comments in other languages. Its guidance recommends focusing on one or two languages and translating video titles and descriptions as well. YouTube reports that creators who uploaded multi-language audio tracks saw over 25% of their watch time come from views in the video’s non-primary language. The Help page does not state the statistic’s publication year, and it is an aggregate observation—not a forecast for an individual channel.

An active broadcast uses a live-streaming workflow: an encoder sends the stream URL and stream key, and the creator manages the broadcast in Live Control Room. Adding a language track to an archived stream instead uses the video’s Languages settings in Studio. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions for a broadcast; they are not the upload steps for dubbing a replay.

- PLUG IN AND HEAR SOUND IN SECONDS - USB Type-A connector with a 3.5mm stereo headphone output and a separate 3.5mm mono microphone input. No drivers, no software, no external power - the adapter is USB bus-powered and is recognized as a standard USB audio device.
- WORKS ON WINDOWS, MAC AND LINUX - Driverless on Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/7/8, Linux and Mac OSX, and compliant with the USB Audio Device Class 1.0 specification, so any system that supports class-compliant USB audio will see it. Select it as the sound output and input device after plugging it in.
- TWO JACKS, TWO JOBS - The green jack is stereo OUT for headphones or powered speakers; the pink jack is mono microphone IN for a 3.5mm mic. It does NOT support 4-pole headsets on a single combo plug, it does NOT power passive speakers, and it does NOT add surround sound - it is a stereo 2-channel adapter.
- FOR LAPTOPS AND DESKTOPS THAT NEED AN AUDIO PORT BACK - Adds a headphone and mic port to a laptop, desktop, or mini PC whose onboard jack has failed or was never there. Managed and work-issued computers can block new USB audio devices by policy - check with your IT department before ordering for a company machine.
- SABRENT SUPPORT AND WARRANTY - What is in the box: one USB audio sound adapter. Backed by a 1-year limited warranty, extended to 2 years when you register within 90 days on the manufacturer's website.
Common problems and fixes
- There is no Languages option or Add control. Check that you are in YouTube Studio on a computer and that your channel has access to Advanced features, which YouTube lists as a requirement for multi-language audio.
- You cannot add your recording for a language. If an automatic dub already occupies that language, delete it first. If replacing a manual upload, delete the existing language audio from the video’s Languages page before adding the new file.
- The audio file is rejected or does not fit the replay. Confirm that it is an audio-only file in a supported format and roughly the same length as the video, as YouTube specifies.
- A secondary track is removed. Review its rights and contents. YouTube says it may remove a secondary track if it detects copyrighted content that differs from the original audio.
- You are trying to change the audio of a broadcast that is currently live. The archived-video upload process does not do that. Use the encoder and Live Control Room workflow for the active stream; add a dubbed track to the replay through Studio after it exists as a video.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your broader goal is to keep prerecorded videos running as a 24/7 YouTube stream, that is separate from adding a dubbed track to an archived video. StreamNeo runs uploaded videos or playlists from the cloud: upload a recording, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; the stream plays at the quality uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, for one flat price per slot. It can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo, or start your free first day.
