Standard installation workflow
- Record the core version. In Drupal, open Reports > Status report and note the exact core version. A site on Drupal 10.2, for example, does not satisfy Chatlio 1.1.0’s stated
^10.3lower bound even though both versions are in the Drupal 10 family. - Create or configure the provider account. Sign in to the hosted service, create the site or property, and configure the chat widget there. The provider account supplies the embed code, widget selection, or Widget ID that Drupal will load.
- Back up configuration and code. Commit your
composer.jsonandcomposer.lockchanges and export Drupal configuration before changing production. Installing a module changes the codebase; enabling it and saving settings changes active configuration. - Install the compatible module with Composer. 2. tawk.to: widget selection plus extra settings
tawk.to release 3.0.3 states support for Drupal 10 and 11. The integration requires a tawk.to account and exposes a widget-selection page rather than asking you to paste a complete script into a generic block.
Install and configure tawk.to
- Run
composer require 'drupal/tawk_to:^3.0'from the Drupal project root, using the current project instructions for the version you select. - Enable the module.
- Log in to tawk.to and make sure the intended property and widget exist.
- Open

Security-policy qualification
The Alive5 project page says the project is not covered by Drupal’s security advisory policy. Before production use, decide how your team will monitor vulnerabilities and review updates for an integration outside that policy.
4. Drift: stated Drupal 9, 10, and 11 compatibility
The Drift project states Drupal 9/10/11 compatibility and directs administrators to configure the widget in Drift, then enable account configuration in Drupal. The project information shows a June 2022 update, so its stated version range should be confirmed against the current module release and your site before installation.

Follow the vendor’s documented plugin installation and account-connection steps, then verify that the plugin still receives security and compatibility updates. Do not install a Drupal 8 plugin on Drupal 10/11 merely because the provider name is familiar; a major-core mismatch can leave the module unavailable or unsupported.
How to control which Drupal pages show the widget
Visibility rules are often more important than installation. A site-wide launcher may be appropriate for a documentation site, but a store may want chat on product and support pages while excluding checkout and payment screens.
Path rules
Start with a short allowlist of paths such as /support, /contact, or a product-detail pattern. Add exclusions for administrative routes and transactional pages. Test both the exact path and a path with a trailing slash or query string if your rule syntax distinguishes them.

Roles and audiences
If the integration supports roles or audiences, test as an anonymous visitor and each authenticated role that should see the launcher. A rule intended for customers can accidentally expose the widget to editors or hide it from logged-in customers if role precedence is misunderstood.

Check that the provider account is active, the embed code or Widget ID is complete, and the current page satisfies the visibility rules. Test an unrestricted page first, then add conditions one at a time.

The widget appears on excluded pages
Review path syntax, role or audience precedence, and cached output. Clear Drupal caches and test in a private window. If a theme or custom block also contains the provider script, remove the duplicate source.
The widget appears twice
Search the theme templates, custom blocks, tag-management configuration, and the Drupal module settings for a second copy of the provider snippet. Keep one integration path and remove the others.
