To add BitTorrent Chain (BTTC), create a custom network entry in MetaMask or another EVM wallet. For live applications select BitTorrent Chain Mainnet; for development and testing select BitTorrent Chain Donau. Mainnet uses chain ID 199 and Donau uses 1029, so entering the wrong set of values can put you on the wrong network.
Adding a network only gives your wallet access to BTTC. It does not move BTT or tokens from Ethereum or BNB Chain. Assets must be transferred separately through a supported bridge.

What BTTC is and why an EVM wallet works
BitTorrent Chain is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). BitTorrent Chain documentation states, “BTTC is EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) compatible.” That compatibility lets an Ethereum-style wallet communicate with BTTC through an RPC endpoint. The same documentation says developers can use MetaMask or another EVM-enabled wallet to interact with the network.
Recommended Free Tools
In practical terms, an EVM wallet stores your account keys and signs transactions, while the custom network entry tells the wallet where to send those transactions. Your address and private key do not change when you switch between Ethereum-compatible networks, but balances and applications are network-specific. A token on Ethereum is not automatically available on BTTC just because both networks use the same address format.

Choose Mainnet or Donau before entering anything
Use Mainnet for live BTTC assets and production applications. Use Donau for testnet development, contract testing and other experiments. Keep the two entries clearly labeled in your wallet so test tokens cannot be mistaken for assets with real value.
| Setting | BitTorrent Chain Mainnet | BitTorrent Chain Donau |
|---|---|---|
| Purpose | Live network for production use | Test network for development and testing |
| Network name | BitTorrent Chain Mainnet | BitTorrent Chain Donau |
| New RPC URL | https://rpc.bt.io/ | https://pre-rpc.bt.io/ |
| Chain ID | 199 | 1029 |
| Currency symbol | BTT | BTT |
| Block explorer URL | https://scan.bt.io/ | https://testscan.bt.io/ |
| Asset value | Live assets may have real value | Testnet assets are for testing and should not be treated as real funds |
Do not combine the Mainnet RPC with Donau’s chain ID, or the reverse. Wallets use the chain ID to identify a network, and a mismatch can cause rejection or connect you to an unintended chain.
What each field does
The network name is a label shown in the wallet; using the full Mainnet or Donau name makes accidental switching less likely. The RPC URL is the endpoint the wallet uses to read balances, submit transactions and communicate with BTTC. The chain ID distinguishes BTTC from other EVM networks and is the most important value to check when a wallet warns about a network. The currency symbol tells the interface to display the native asset as BTT. The block explorer URL supplies a link for viewing addresses, transactions and contract activity on the matching environment.

- A MetaMask account or another wallet that supports custom EVM networks.
- The Mainnet or Donau values from the table above.
- The wallet’s recovery phrase or other backup method stored securely before making account changes.
- A clear decision about whether you need live assets or testnet assets.
Use the official BTTC values rather than copying a network request from an unfamiliar website. A malicious RPC endpoint can show misleading balances or send transactions to infrastructure you did not intend to use.
Add BTTC to MetaMask Extension
MetaMask’s documented desktop flow uses the network settings menu. The custom network form has five values: network name, RPC URL, chain ID, currency symbol and block explorer URL.
- Open MetaMask Extension and unlock the wallet.
- Open the network menu in the top-right area of the wallet.
- Choose Networks.
- Select Add a custom network.
- Enter the five values for either BitTorrent Chain Mainnet or BitTorrent Chain Donau from the table above. Use one complete set; do not mix rows.
- Review the RPC URL, chain ID, symbol and explorer URL character by character.
- Click Save.
- Switch to the new BTTC network and check that the displayed network name and currency symbol are the ones you intended.
Confirming the connection
After saving, the network selector should show the label you entered. A Mainnet entry should identify chain ID 199 in its details, while a Donau entry should identify 1029. The wallet’s native currency display should use the BTT symbol. You can open the corresponding block explorer from the wallet or paste a transaction hash into the correct explorer to verify that you are viewing the same network.
If MetaMask reports an invalid network
Reopen the custom network entry and compare every field with the official table. The most common mistake is entering 1029 for Mainnet or 199 for Donau. Also check for a missing character in the RPC hostname, an omitted trailing slash, or an explorer URL from the other network.

Add BTTC to MetaMask Mobile
MetaMask Mobile uses a different menu path from the Extension. Adding a network on one device does not automatically add it on the other, so configure Mobile separately even when the same wallet account is already restored there.

- Open MetaMask Mobile and unlock it.
- On the Tokens tab, open the network dropdown at the top.
- Switch to Custom.
- Choose Add a custom network.
- Enter either the complete Mainnet set or the complete Donau set from the network table.
- Save the network and select it from the dropdown.
- Check the visible network name and BTT currency symbol before using a dApp or signing a transaction.
Custom networks can need to be added again after an app or extension is uninstalled, even if the wallet account is restored from a recovery phrase. Keep a private record of the verified BTTC settings so you can restore them without relying on an unverified prompt.
Use BTTC in another EVM wallet
Most EVM-enabled wallets expose a function named Add network, Custom network or Custom RPC. The labels and menu locations differ, but the network data is the same.
- Open the wallet’s network selector or settings page.
- Choose the option for adding a custom EVM network.
- Enter one complete BTTC row: network name, RPC URL, chain ID, BTT symbol and the matching explorer URL.
- Save the entry and switch to it.
- Verify the chain ID and network label in the wallet before connecting to a BTTC application.
Some wallets let you edit an RPC endpoint after saving; others require deleting and recreating the entry. If your wallet offers multiple RPC URLs, do not substitute an endpoint from a search result unless you can independently verify it against BTTC’s published values. The wallet’s own documentation is the right source for its exact click path and for whether desktop and mobile network lists synchronize.
Desktop and mobile synchronization
Wallets handle custom networks differently. Some synchronize network definitions through an account profile, while others store them locally on each installation. Treat the desktop and mobile configurations as separate until you have verified the network appears and shows the expected chain ID on both devices.
Compare wallets before choosing one
MetaMask has documented Extension and Mobile paths, but another EVM wallet may place custom RPC controls under a settings, networks or developer menu. Before committing funds, check whether the wallet supports the BTTC applications you plan to use, whether it allows RPC editing, and whether its desktop and mobile versions share network definitions. A wallet can support EVM accounts yet still require a separate manual entry on every device. The account address can remain the same while each installation has a different list of configured networks.
Optional shortcut: add BTTC through Chainlist
MetaMask documents chainid.network, commonly called Chainlist, as another way to submit a network-add request. This is quicker than typing the fields, but it is not a substitute for checking them.
- Open Chainlist and connect MetaMask.
- Search for the intended BTTC network.
- Review the displayed network name, RPC URL, chain ID, currency symbol and explorer.
- Select Add Chain.
- Read the wallet confirmation and approve only if every value matches the official BTTC table.
- Switch to the added network and verify the same details inside MetaMask.
MetaMask warns that it does not maintain Chainlist’s network data. A listing can be outdated, duplicated or incorrect, so independently compare the request with the Mainnet or Donau values above. If anything differs, cancel the request and add the network manually.
Move BTT or other assets onto BTTC
Network setup does not bridge funds. To move assets from Ethereum or BNB Chain, use the BitTorrent Bridge with MetaMask connected to the chain that currently holds the assets.

- Choose BTTC under To.
- Select the token and enter the amount.
- Review the receiving address and the transaction preview.
- Confirm that the connected address is the address you intend to receive on BTTC.
- Sign the transaction in MetaMask.
- After signing, open Bridge Records to track the transfer.
The bridge guide says the connected MetaMask address is the default receiving address. It also warns: “Please make sure you are entering the correct address as you are unable to edit or cancel the transaction once it is initiated.” Treat the address and transaction preview as a final review, not as an informational screen.
How long a bridge transfer may take
| Route | Published estimate | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| BNB Chain to BTTC | Up to 8 minutes | An estimate published by BTTC Support in 2025, not a guaranteed completion time |
| Ethereum to BTTC | Up to 18 minutes | An estimate published by BTTC Support in 2025, not a guaranteed completion time |
During a delay, check Bridge Records first. Do not submit a second transfer simply because the first one has not appeared yet; confirm its status and the destination address before taking further action.
Fees and approvals
A bridge transaction normally requires gas on the source chain, and a token may require an approval transaction before the bridge can transfer it. Read each MetaMask prompt, check the spender and amount, and make sure you are still connected to the intended source network. The presence of a BTTC network entry in your wallet does not remove source-chain fees or token approvals.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Verify that the wallet and dApp are on the same chain
A wallet can display BTTC while a browser tab or dApp remains connected to another network. Before signing, check the network indicator in both places. If a dApp asks to switch or add a network, compare its request with the official Mainnet or Donau values instead of approving automatically.
- For live use, the wallet and dApp should both identify BitTorrent Chain Mainnet and chain ID 199.
- For testing, both should identify BitTorrent Chain Donau and chain ID 1029.
- The native currency should appear as BTT.
- The block explorer link should correspond to the same network, not the other BTTC environment.
Switching between Mainnet and Donau safely
Switching networks changes which ledger the wallet reads; it does not transfer, convert or bridge anything. If you switch from Mainnet to Donau, a zero balance can simply mean that the address has no Donau assets. Likewise, test BTT displayed on Donau is not a substitute for Mainnet BTT. Select the network from the wallet selector, then confirm the chain ID before interacting with a contract.
When working with both environments, use descriptive labels such as “BTTC Mainnet — 199” and “BTTC Donau — 1029” if your wallet permits custom naming. Keep separate browser tabs or project configurations where possible, and check the explorer domain before interpreting a transaction result.

The network is rejected when you click Save
Compare all five fields with the official table, paying particular attention to chain ID 199 versus 1029. Remove a partially saved entry and recreate it if the wallet has retained an old RPC URL. Confirm that you have not pasted spaces before or after the endpoint.
The network was added on Extension but is missing on Mobile
MetaMask treats Extension and Mobile network lists separately. Repeat the Mobile path: Tokens tab, network dropdown, Custom, Add a custom network. The account can be the same while the custom network definition is absent from the other installation.

The wallet shows zero balance
First confirm that you selected the correct environment. Mainnet and Donau have different chain IDs and separate balances. Then check whether the asset has actually been bridged or sent to this address on BTTC. Adding the network alone cannot display funds that remain on Ethereum or BNB Chain.
A token is not visible after bridging
Check Bridge Records and confirm the transfer reached the expected destination address. If the transaction is complete but the token is not listed, use the wallet’s approved token-import function and obtain the token contract address from a trustworthy, official source. Do not import a token solely because an unsolicited message or dApp prompt suggests it.
A transaction is pending
Check the transaction on the explorer that matches the network you used: https://scan.bt.io/ for Mainnet or https://testscan.bt.io/ for Donau. For bridge transfers, use Bridge Records as well. Avoid repeatedly replacing or resubmitting a transaction until you know whether the original is pending, failed or completed.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →A dApp requests unfamiliar network details
Reject the request until you compare the proposed name, RPC URL, chain ID, symbol and explorer with BTTC’s official values. A familiar-looking network name is not enough; the chain ID and RPC endpoint must also match the environment you intend to use.
The explorer link opens the wrong environment
Check the domain against the network you selected. Mainnet activity belongs on scan.bt.io; Donau activity belongs on testscan.bt.io. A valid-looking transaction hash can still be confusing if it is pasted into the explorer for the other environment.
Bridge Records has no completed transfer
Confirm that you connected the wallet to the source chain selected under From, then verify the source transaction in the matching explorer. If the bridge estimate has not elapsed, wait and monitor Bridge Records. If it has elapsed, review the exact receiving address and transaction status before contacting support or attempting another transfer.
Safe operating checklist
- Label entries explicitly as Mainnet or Donau.
- Use chain ID 199 only with Mainnet values and 1029 only with Donau values.
- Bookmark or type the verified RPC and explorer addresses rather than trusting an unexpected prompt.
- Confirm the active network before sending, swapping, bridging or approving tokens.
- Inspect the recipient address and transaction preview because an initiated bridge transfer cannot be edited or cancelled according to the BTTC guide.
- Keep recovery material offline and never enter a recovery phrase into a website or support chat.
- When troubleshooting, check the matching explorer and Bridge Records before submitting another transaction.
Bottom line
BTTC can be added to MetaMask and other EVM wallets as a custom network. Use the Mainnet row for live activity, the Donau row for testing, and verify every field—especially the chain ID—before saving or approving a network request. After the wallet is configured, bridge assets separately and review the destination address and transaction preview before signing.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the BTTC Mainnet RPC URL and chain ID?
Use https://rpc.bt.io/ as the RPC URL and 199 as the chain ID. The currency symbol is BTT and the explorer is https://scan.bt.io/.
Best Value
What are the BitTorrent Chain Donau testnet settings?
Use the network name BitTorrent Chain Donau, RPC https://pre-rpc.bt.io/, chain ID 1029, symbol BTT and explorer https://testscan.bt.io/.
How do I add BTTC to MetaMask Mobile?
On the Tokens tab, open the network dropdown, choose Custom, select Add a custom network, enter the complete Mainnet or Donau values, save, and verify the displayed chain ID and BTT symbol.
Can I use BTTC in a wallet other than MetaMask?
Yes. BTTC is EVM compatible, so another EVM-enabled wallet can connect through a custom network or custom RPC form. Use the same five BTTC values and follow that wallet’s menu instructions.
Why does BTTC appear on my desktop but not my phone?
MetaMask Extension and Mobile keep custom network entries separate. Add BTTC manually on each installation; restoring the same account does not automatically copy the network definition.
Does adding BTTC move my BTT from Ethereum or BNB Chain?
No. Adding the network only connects the wallet to BTTC. Use the BitTorrent Bridge to transfer supported assets from Ethereum or BNB Chain, and review the receiving address before signing.
How long does bridging take?
BTTC Support lists estimates of up to 8 minutes from BNB Chain to BTTC and up to 18 minutes from Ethereum to BTTC. These are estimates, so monitor Bridge Records rather than submitting a duplicate transfer.
Can I trust a dApp or Chainlist network request automatically?
No. Compare the requested network name, RPC URL, chain ID, symbol and explorer with the verified BTTC Mainnet or Donau values before approving. MetaMask does not maintain Chainlist’s network data.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe Bottom Line
Enter one complete BTTC network row, verify the chain ID, and configure each wallet device separately. Mainnet is for live assets; Donau is for testing. Bridge funds separately and check the destination address before signing.
